It's humbling to look back at the last year and see how our LO's have gone from helpless newborns to action-packed pre-toddlers.

BRING IT ON!!!

You've been busy!!

So a few random comments (hopefully I won't forget anybody)

mama Our car seat are 1. I use this one and DH uses this one. I just noticed how much they have increased in price since we bought them!!!

LBH I hope today went fine.

chinook Angry at your DH comment. DH one day was cross with me as I 'did nothing all day' while DS was home and sick. He hasn't made that comment twice Grin Sorry to hear about your probelms when sleep training.

BC well done on your reviving night.

bethy congratulations on DS2 steps. Good news on how he reacted to his first time at nursery, it's much easier when they don't cry when you leave them there, isn't it?

I want to go swimming with DS but never seem to be able to, the fact that the swimming pool closes at 2pm on Saturday doesn't help neither Hmm My DS has discovered that small objects can fit into bigger ones but can do the shape sorter yet. I'm impressed of your LO capable of doing the animal sounds. DS laughs when I read him an animal book just by saying their names Confused . He can now do kisses (aah)
We had to lower DS mattress again so now it's at the lowest setting as when standing in the cot he was pushing himself up! Shock

StoneBaby · 11/01/2011 19:23

Oh, forgot to ask. Does any of your LO fascinated by your washing machine? DS can seat in front of it while it's on or he'll help me filling/emptying it by put his head in it!

BabyGiraffes · 11/01/2011 19:42

Stone yes to the washing machine. Took a picture the other day of dd2 standing in front of it and very excitedly pointing at her sleep bear going round and round... (She seemed to think it funny rather than traumatic Grin)

BabyGiraffes · 11/01/2011 19:45

IC you can probably find instructions online... Are you trying to adjust the height of the straps over her shoulder or the overall length of the straps? (Just remembered that dh and I nearly took our first car seat back to the shop because we couldn't work out the latter Blush. Parenting is such a steep learning curve, isn't it. It took us literally hours to put together our pushchair, not to mention the cot, the highchair... Grin)

LittlebearH · 11/01/2011 19:54

Hello all...wow, loads to read! Well I survived and so did DD.

When I arrived to pick her up she burst into tears and was happy to have a long cuddle. My best bit of the day!

She has cried on and off all day but ate well and didn't throw up. She is teething badly, looks like some top teeth are due. Childminder has written copious notes and DD can do her shape sorter too and liked putting things into the stacking cups today. She has also been to baby group.
She had 3 little sleeps but was very over tired at bed time tonight and took a while for her to stop getting up. I minded less about this as I only had her for 2 hrs today.

Hoping for a decent night..getting ready at 5am without making any noise is hard....

DD does kisses...(open mouth headbutt) she kisses her reflection in the mirror as well.
SB Love pic!! DD is rather fond of the washing machine and tumble drier.

Yesterday I left my underwear drawer open, she emptied the contents one by one flinging them over her shoulder. V amusing to watch!

Hmm we have been dicussing car seats here too. Hoping we can get one compatible with the easyfix bases me and DP had put in our cars....

Am shattered, will write more to each of you soon. Thanks for all the comments and support..DP has been nicer last couple of days. Think he realised that I am struggling with work etc. He cooked dinner tonight.

PenguinArmy · 11/01/2011 19:55

DD is running a fever again. My brother is staying and he came with a cold, so guess it isn't too surprising. Fingers crossed for the next few days. She was very clingy when I left for work:( I haven't got over my cold yet, so hopefully we won't have to deal with both at the same time.

We have a monster of a car seat which will do all the time we're over here. I think the regs are different here, more strict. You can go to the police stations here though and they'll check it for you. Car seats here are designed to go in your car and never leave, which is a pain for us as we only use hire cars.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 11/01/2011 19:55

Hah, you're not kidding BG!

I can't see what make the damn thing is, or I'd be straight on Google...

Actually, it's the former we'll need to do, although not yet so there's no urgency.

Did that last sentence make any sense?!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 11/01/2011 19:57

Glad it went okay, LBH and that your DP is being more pleasant to you.

Aw, bummer PA - let's hope it passes quickly (and you don't get it as well).

IC we should all award ourselves an honorary 'baby gear' degree Grin

NonSense2 · 11/01/2011 20:08

PS, That was me...BG... just experimenting

BabyGiraffes · 11/01/2011 20:11

And I'm back. Still like my baby giraffes... Grin

BabyGiraffes · 11/01/2011 20:14

Another PS... IC my dd1 would like you to know that we have the same banana toy in our car

StoneBaby · 11/01/2011 20:16

1 person I know is expecting for April, 3 work colleagues for June and DH just told me a couple of friends are also expecting! I'm getting broody with all those bumps around Smile

DS fell at nursery on a baby walker while trying to stand not holding as a result he has a black eye and a bruise on his cheek Sad he looks like he's been in a fight Grin DH as a proud father took a picture to show people Hmm

LBH glad to hear you're getting more support from your DP. DS kisses the same way as your DD

InmaculadaConcepcion · 12/01/2011 07:12

BG, tell your DD1 Banana Toys Rule!!!

Aw, StoneBaby, your poor wee boy...! Grin at your DH's pride....

Stangirl · 12/01/2011 08:04

Stonebaby aw! poor thing. When my DD fell off the sofa she ended up with a small bit of blood at the corner of her mouth which made me cry. My DP tried to cheer me up by saying it was about time "we drew first blood". I cried more.

Just about to buy next size up car seat and have found a second hand one through friend of friend for £35. Didn't want one of those that you fix to a base so it's just a monstrosity that you strap in with the safety belt. Never had all this nonsense in my day - i used to sit on the front seat on my knees with my face out the window and my tongue hanging out like a dog for when we went fast. oh well, I guess it saves lives.

BTW I was at the Tate Modern yesterday and the ground floor cafe was great for DD. They put us in a quiet corner with lots of room for buggies and i just let her crawl all over the floor. The staff were lovely. Increasingly I find it tricky because DD hates being restrained so I can't have leisurely lunches anymore - so it's good when i find a venue where i can let her roam.

BabyGiraffes · 12/01/2011 08:21

Stangirl we had a Beetle when I was a child and I used to sit behind the back seat in the luggage compartment... Grin Ah, the days... My parents also just removed a front seat and put us babies in a moses basket in the footrest Smile

ChestnutSoup · 12/01/2011 10:11

Very quickly - DD2 slept through last night!

Oh, and stan my office is right next to the Tate Modern - the grey and black stripy building next to Blackfriars bridge!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 12/01/2011 11:07

CS Yay!!

BabyGiraffes · 12/01/2011 18:16

Is there an 11 month growth spurt or something? dd2 had her dinner and then three rice cakes plus two slices of bread...

PenguinArmy · 12/01/2011 18:36

if it's anything like our house perhaps the wind was just blowing in a different direction :)

PenguinArmy · 12/01/2011 18:38
InmaculadaConcepcion · 12/01/2011 18:55

Good news, PA.

Has she been especially active, BG? She's carbing up for something - has she entered the local half-marathon or something? Grin

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 12/01/2011 19:02

I swear BG if your DD beats me in the marathon, I may just walk off in a hump Grin

CS I will however keep my fingers crossed that this lasts for you

Bearcrumble · 12/01/2011 19:25

CS Great news on the sleeping! I used to work about 5 minutes from you. I was in Enterprise House, just behind the OXO tower.

Also SG one of my best new mum friends is the front of house manager of all the Tate cafes/restaurants (she was there yesterday morning for a KIT day) so I will pass on the praise. Thank you for telling me about Ricky Gervais - I take back what I said.

LBH Glad first day back wasn't too bad.

PA Glad to hear DD doesn't seem to be coming down with anything nasty.

DS slept from 6.30-5am as usual last night but then went down again after boob until 8.15! AMAZING. Then I thought he would skip morning nap but he got tired around 10.30 - I tried to keep him awake as we were at baby gym but had to throw in the towel at 11 and walk him in the pram for a bit while he napped (about 35mins). Then he did 40 mins in the afternoon and went down awake but without fuss at 6.45.

So glad because the night before was horrible and I was consequently in a miserable, low mood all day yesterday - particularly in the afternoon.

StoneBaby · 12/01/2011 19:54

Giod to hear nights are improving for most of us Smile
