It's humbling to look back at the last year and see how our LO's have gone from helpless newborns to action-packed pre-toddlers.

BRING IT ON!!!

Happy birthday to BG's DD. Hope she has a lovely day.

I had a bit of a crap night. DS did a giant leaky poo whilst sitting at his high chair having dinner and I thought it might be a portent. At 4.15am he started making small noises and I went into his room to find the cot covered in puke and his sleeping bag full of poo juice. Cleaned him up, threw soiled clothing in a bucket of water and vanish powder and put new clothes on him. Took him into bed with me. Half an hour later the FUCKING CAT starts puking on the stairs. I shout to DH to sort that out. Half an hour after that DS pukes milk on me. Luckily it is mostly just on my pyjama top and one pillow so I change my top and chuck the pillow on the floor. Fingers crossed only one small vom since getting up and a contained-by-nappy poo.

I don't think I'll be trying him on the Aloo Gobi I made last night.

I thought so too IC. So the pead. was really talking nonsense. BTW it made no difference at all, BF or FF, DD2 stayed on the same line.

DD2 slept through again (awake at 6h), but I was awake during the night and early too. hope your night goes better. teething?

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/02/2011 08:30

Sorry you had a crap (literally) night, Bc - although your pay-off did make me LOL!

Fingers crossed it was a short-lived thing.

I think clear fluids for 24 hours are usually recommended for tummy bugs.....??

I'll stop whinging about my own nocturnal fun now. I had it easy....

Good news, Shro!

DD's definitely got a tooth coming through, but it doesn't look swollen or anything and she hasn't been unduly bothered by teeth so far. However, if it hasn't cut through by tonight, I will administer some paracetamol if we get another nocturnal awakening that looks like it's going to be a long one...

CS don't you think the dentist did it on purpose, so you reschedule when the baby is older than one. I remember when having DD1, they barely check me up, said they couldn't do that and that because I had the baby with me, please come back in 4 months (i.e. "when the baby is older than 1 so you can pay me")

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 03/02/2011 08:35

Xposts Sorry about the night BC I would have been furious at the cat Grin bad timing

BabyGiraffes · 03/02/2011 09:25

Happy birthday to my darling daughter Smile. dd1 was very cross that the baby slept until 8 because she was ready and waiting to 'help' open cards and presents... Grin

Stangirl · 03/02/2011 09:43

Happy birthday BG's DD!

BC your DS makes my DD's illness pale in comparison. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

I was spooked because DD had never been ill before but she stopped being throwing up over her new nursery key worker yesterday morning and didn't have diarrohoea (sp?) at all. she woke at 10:30pm and again at 5:30am but a bit of formula each time sent her back to sleep. This morning she's managed a bit of toast, slivers of banana and guzzled her formula and hasn't thrown up. she's still sleepy though and grumpy when awake. She's on the mend - but she's got her innoculations this afternoon.

SconesForTea · 03/02/2011 09:44

Happy birthday BG's DD2! Grin

Shock Sad at BC's terrible night.

Like the name change, Schrodinger!

We're off to our first, first birthday party today - the first of many. I spent 12 pounds in Smiths on cards yesterday Shock

BabyGiraffes · 03/02/2011 09:51

Blush The first present dd2 unwrapped, dd1 piped up 'That's from Christmas!'... live on camera. Lovely. Hope the baby will forgive me in years to come that I rewrapped two things Grin.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/02/2011 10:43

Grin at BG's DD2

You can't get anything past them, can you?!

Very relieved to hear your DD's on the mend, Stangirl.
I must confess, I was totally having a nosy at your pix on FB. They made me feel very nostalgic for my rave/party/Glaso days.....!

Stan No, no he's only been sick twice, so I think your DD had a rougher time of it. He's napping now.

BG Hahaha re "That's from Christmas". Love it.

Meant to say DH and I had a really nice evening out on Tuesday at the Japanese restaurant. I had a lychee/ginger/vodka martini. It was very nice.

BabyGiraffes · 03/02/2011 11:06

Birthday? What's a birthday?

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/02/2011 11:29

Lovely!

Nice looking guitar in the background too, BG - who plays, you or DH? Or both?

OP posts:
BabyGiraffes · 03/02/2011 12:32

IC dh plays and writes his own songs... Oh and dd1 spends quite a long time strumming, too (although last time she also did a bit of re-tuning Grin)

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/02/2011 12:40

Cool! Another songwriter...!

DD has also shown an interest in the guitar, although her strumming technique needs practice Smile

IC nose away. We took DD to Glasto last year for a whole week. It was ace. She loved it. Noise, music, colour and people everywhere. It was her second festival (well third if you count the Rage Against the Machine All Dayer). Her first was an All Tomorrows' Parties event in April where she saw The XX and Iggy Pop. The only reason we're not going to Glasto this year is that I don't want to risk going into labour on site.

BabyGiraffes · 03/02/2011 13:26

IC Love your review of parenting books. I'd like to add another for slightly older toddlers/children 'The idle parent' (Tom Hodgekinson)... Grin Didn't totally agree with him but it does make you think that 'over-parenting' is not good either for our little darlings.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/02/2011 13:31

Blimey, you're brave Stangirl! We took DD to two WOMADs last year, but the first was held in a town so we had a hotel room and the second is within 15mins driving distance of my PILs, so we wimped out of camping and stayed with them.
DD LOVED WOMAD - as you say, all the colour and activity was brilliant for her.

Ooh, thanks for the recommendation, BG!!

Well we did cheat a bit - we were in the normal family camping but had backstage passes (DJ mate) which made it a lot easier getting between the main stages and gave us more room to chill out in the heat of the day. I had also spent the previous Glasto (when I was in the early stages of pregnancy) waylaying people with little babies and asking them how they were coping - so I had researched. Last time round I spoke to people with 2 small children and toddlers - so I'm ready for the next one. The main tip was to get one of those double bike trailers and trick it out so the 2 kids can be rolled about during the day and have somewhere to kip at night. I will be doing mine in leopard-print throws, fairylights and lots of plastic fruit.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/02/2011 15:20

In case I forget Happy birthday to BG's DD (lovely pics) and also Stonesbaby for tomorrow.

Being picked up for the airport in 5 hours, much to do so will probably post loads Grin

BC that sounds tough (and made me gag a bit) but you did manage to write it in a funny way.

Our night was OK, every 3 hours. It's the mornings we're really struggling with, from 5am, she is clearly still tired but won't go back off. This is normally when I catch up on sleep so is having an impact on me.

ChestnutSoup · 03/02/2011 16:33

Happy Birthday BG's DD2! My DD1 would have made the same copmment abou the present... are they the same age, I wonder (my DD1 is 4).

I think I've put a recent photo of DD2 on FB, but the group thing is new to me, so maybe not!

ChestnutSoup · 03/02/2011 16:34

PS. Hope all those poorly are getting better. And good luck with the journey PA.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/02/2011 16:54

Bon voyage, PA!

Big sympathy on the sleep, too. I think virtually all of us can empathise with your pain there....
