Back to normal nn Grin

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 10/01/2012 08:48

Grin gauchita, I was going for <a class="break-all" href="http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?q=cheese+and+pineapple+hedgehog&hl=en&rlz=1T4ACPW_enGB367GB367&biw=1366&bih=593&tbm=isch&tbnid=5PixDI0PtSts0M:&imgrefurl=futureartists.co.uk/event/future-artists-christmas-shindig-with-1980s-style-wedding-buffet-feat-cheese-and-pineapple-hedgehog-aka-giles-carol-singing-open-mic-really-bad-karaoke-and-dad-dancing/&docid=9ZSNkrh_R6CG2M&imgurl=evbdn.eventbrite.com/s3-s3/eventlogos/3024463/picture99.png&w=396&h=545&ei=MvkLT4uTCcXQhAeDnPytBA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=169&vpy=215&dur=1674&hovh=263&hovw=191&tx=103&ty=191&sig=109925426848940124429&page=1&tbnh=114&tbnw=93&start=0&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this sort of thing, kitch party food, or party food from my childhood Grin the 70's/80's were so sophisticated! Not quite so warm here today and a bit on the damp side, make the most of it now you're homeward bound pretty soon!

Gauchita · 11/01/2012 00:01

Ninja, Grin ha! The only thing I remember from the 80s is neon clothes, awful trainers and lots of neon accessories as well, lovely huh? I was a little girl but remember that clearly. Music was great, though Grin

Another scorching day here, 41 degrees. M took 3 baths Grin It was too hot for the pool even, as the sun was just too strong. Weather is changing this evening, we already have some wind and it's supposed to drop to 25

Hope everyone is well.

June2009 · 11/01/2012 20:01

Just marking my place, thread dropped off my threads i'm on for some reason ( didnt think it's beenthat long since i posted!)

Got a nasty cold so off to bed early; will catch up tomorrow. X

snowwombat · 11/01/2012 23:16

sorry girls, bloody hopeless and manically busy here, event sent DS to nursery on the wrong days Confused Blush.

gauchita 41 Grin sounds marvellous, except that it is too hot to get in the pool. Not long now. What are you doing with your last few days?
ninga Grin Grin Grin loved the catering for the home-coming. I could rustle up a fabulous prawn cocktail

june what is power lifting? Hope you feeling better soon

skillbo you ok? feeding frenzy settled yet?

zhen how are you feeling?

Gauchita · 12/01/2012 13:58

Hi ladies!

June, hope the cold is clearing now, it can be exhausting, esp. with a toddler around with lots of energy Y y, what's power-lifting?

Snow, oh I couldn't help but chuckle at your taking A to nursery on the wrong days That's so me Grin I have to think twice, believe me. What am I doing these last days? Clogging up my days as much as I can so that MIL from hell doesn't want to harass us every day. So far I'm "booked" till next Tuesday Wink Not long now!! thank f*ck Grin

Skillbo, lots of Brew going your way. Hope you're still getting lots of newborn cuddles and that J's doing well.

Zhen, how's work? When do you start ML?

Right, not so hot today, thank the Lord, Grin A friend and her baby are coming over in a bit so we'll be able to enjoy the pool in the afternoon. I'm desperate now to go home, ladies. Baaaaadly. Docs arrive this afternoon, according to the online tracking service

I've uploaded a couple of pictures of us.

Waves!

snowwombat · 12/01/2012 14:46

dammit, just lost a long message. double bugger as procrastinating from finishing some work.
Have at least got a chill on for dinner and almost finished by tax return. Kids asleep, but for another 10 minutes or so.

Tax OMG. Self assessment and paying half of next year's up front os a total bastard isn't it. I miss the PAYE systems. f**king hell, HALF of next year's predicted tax to be paid by the end of the month. The project will wind down next financial year and so I am sure I will get a refund at some stage- 18 months down the line I guess. Fuckers.

gauchita the new photos are stunning. You look incredible.

I did the shred for the first time. It was not as bad as I thought it would be, but I have no arm strength and struggled with doing pretend push ups. Tomorrow I am going to hurt.
june any advice on getting better at push ups? Just do more and wait?

Waves to all, someone stirring.

June2009 · 12/01/2012 20:56

Heya cold clearing slowly, not quick enough. C being quite difficult (or maybe i can't cope as well because i'm tired). She is a sweerheart really.
Why does my cleaner always let me down when I need her the most, for the past two months she's only been coming sporadically, so annoying.
I think you were thinking of bodybuilding gauchita :) i am not going to end up like schwarzy :) power lifting is just these three exercises (squats, deadlift and bench press) where you lift as much as you can. In competitions you get weighed and compete with your weight range iirc. Anyway just an idea for now since i am quite good at it and can't run so much because of spd twinges scaring me whenever I run too much or too fast.

Im sorry i caught up a little bit and instantly forgot who said what, on my phone and can't scroll!

Ah yeah snow, taxes are a bitch and paying half of next year upfront is infuriating. Their ads really get the best worst swear words out of me.

I simply have to go to sleep, talk soon!

Gauchita · 12/01/2012 23:08

Evening ladies,

Snow, ouch, you've mentioned the T word! I have to do my self-assessment and I'll have 5 days to do it before the deadline once I arrive. I tried to do it from here but don't have my government gateway thingy with me and DH is useless says he can't find it Hmm grrrr. How annoying that you lost your post! I love that pic I managed to take of the three of us, it was with my phone but the quality was quite good! Hope tomorrow you don't ache that much. The first sessions are a pain, literally.

June, oh, got it! Sounds interesting! I remember my days of body pump and lifting 30kg on the leg tracks, 20 on the chest ones, sniff My arms look OK, though, as D is a chunker Grin and only by holding him day in and day out I'm keeping them just fine Grin The rest, though, I need to do something, at least pilates at home! I'm 50kg atm (again, D has a LOT to do with that, man does he feed!) and I eat like a horse, believe me. People cannot believe how much I eat on a single sitting Hmm but then, BF does that, everything seems to go to the baby. But weight only has little to do with fitness, I think I should do some sort of activity.

DC in bed, I'm off to have dinner and then do some reading.

Waves!

June2009 · 13/01/2012 08:31

snow for push ups the best way to get better at them is to do one every couple of hours for a couple of weeks, (5 days out of 7 say) then increase it to two for a couple of weeks and you should see a difference.
gauchita I did bodypump every week for years, it really toned up my arms, no more bingo wings :) It's a brilliant class. And yes weight is a funny thing, lifting the kids totally does work your muscles :)

Gauchita · 15/01/2012 12:33

Morning ladies!

The official countdown has begun! Grin 9 days to go Grin

Hope everyone's having a nice weekend.

June, has the cold cleared now? Hope so.

Waves!

June2009 · 15/01/2012 20:24

9 days gauchita :D great!!!
My cold has cleared, really itching to get back to training but I think I need to wait to see how I feel tomorrow morning. That would be the sensible thing to do.

snowwombat · 16/01/2012 22:46

How are we juners?
Bloody freezing the last few days, frost has been hanging around all day.
A is having total disasters on TT front. Not interested. Too busy playing+not fussed about wet undies. Might revisit in another few weeks.
He has also developed a vair special angry voice, used at extra loud volume.it has a lovely growling timbre about it. He will not do anything he is asked , without argument and refuses to stay in time out. Oh what a fun day we have had. Truly entertaining.

Both kids full of cold. Mmmm snot. Lovely.

Might get some respite next week, possibly a trip away for a few days. Typical last minute bloody work, always so easy to arrange childcare, etc.

Anyway, enough of my whinging
gauchita almost there!hope days going quickly for yoy
june thanks for the push up help.can feel all my muscles, is a good feeling after so long without proper exervise.
ninja all ok with you?back to usual chaos?
zhenhow is the bump?would you like the book I mentioned downthread?
skillbo hope you ok+getting some rest

ZhenThereWereTwo · 17/01/2012 11:44

Hello everyone, I am living in chaos. Currently hiding out in bedroom while the biggest drill I have ever seen (metre long diamond drill) makes its way through my kitchen wall, the whole flat is shaking. Boiler getting ripped out tomorrow then probably next week or week after for whole kitchen and bathroom . I just hope they get it finished before DD2 arrives!

Sorry Snow meant to get back to you, would love the book, have pm'ed you my address :) Bump is growing nicely thanks. N also has a growly toddler voice that she puts on when she doesn't like something/doesn't want to do something, she copied it from a little boy at playgroup. Sounds like you will deserve one of these: Wine when this day is over.

7 days to go Gauchita whoohoo Grin Shame that you have to come back to go straight in to the self assessment, my mum has to do hers every year, I can remember as a teenager coming back to find her in the middle of a pile of receipts in tears.

Glad to hear your cold is better June

Ninja can I also join Peppa Pig support group please? Grin

Gauchita · 17/01/2012 11:56

Morning ladies!

I hear you, my friend! I guess I'll try again when we get home. Hope the colds clear soon, snot is a PITA. At least here it lingers for weeks, all you can see is a runny nose, grrr. Where would you be off to next week? US? BRA?

June, very sensible of you, yes, you would have ended up knackered after exercising with a cold. Hope you're feeling all better now. How's work? Has your cleaner returned?

Hope everyone's well. It's been quiet here, RL getting in the way right? Grin

I panicked yesterday when I called the airline to make sure everything was OK with the cot and all and they told me there was no cot requested Shock I bought our tickets through a travel agent (that was a first and last for me, thank you) and he hadn't done anything, even though he told me he had. There wasn't even a log of D's date of birth, not even his name, nothing! He had even given me middle row seats. Supposedly once I did the check in they were going to change them... well, no, he was wrong. Thank God the lady who assisted me was an absolute star and managed to get a cot. Unfortunately there was already someone on the seat next to me so M had to be placed in front of me but she said on the day there won't be any problem changing that Seems tiny but a 12.5h night flight with D on my arms would be a hard one, to say the least (8.5kg/18.7lbs!). So glad it's sorted now.

I have some great news, we'll be heading down South from 31/1 for five days! Our last trip to London was an utter nightmare so we want to make up for it Grin Ddad will be with us only for 10 days so he definitely wants to go, besides it'll be his treat Grin. Going by train and renting a flat as it was much much cheaper than a hotel for all of us. Anyway, let me know if anyone wants to meet up for a cup of tea somewhere! I can send the men off to trot with M somewhere and take D with me.

Off to visit step-SILs and their DC today. It should be fun, M has a great time running after all the children Grin

7 days!!!

Waves

Gauchita · 17/01/2012 12:02

Cross-post, Zhen!

Oh Gawd! That's some huge drilling there... is it for today only, though? Good to know things are getting fixed, though. When's your dd? Have you started ML already? Self assessment almost finished now (DH found the blinking PW). Last night was a PITA! No tears though, fortunately Grin

snowwombat · 19/01/2012 14:27

Checking in. How are we?
Good god zhen that drilling is horrific. I hope it gets finished quickly. Timing hey?Book sent today.
gauchita I hear you on the basinette saga. Similar thing happened with our seat allocation on way home. Kind person happily swapped seats. Not long now!
skillbo how are those early days treating you?
ninja how is everything at your place?
june feeling back to normal now?
< warning pathetic self serving rant ahead>
Feel completely overwhelmed with work and everything I guess. The logistics of childcare arranging for my trips are difficult. We still don't know where we will be living in 2months time. DH just job interview at the other end of the country but it is a permanent job,and st the end of the day, thay is what he wants.
Oh, and I'm going away Sunday for 3 nights to usa. Looking forward to work/uninterrupted 5mins to myself. At least I took A to nursery on the correct days this week Grin

Enough me, how are all of you? Anyone got into the new series of masterchef?I've got last nights to watch on the iplayer.

June2009 · 19/01/2012 20:01

Marking my place, cold not cleared after all and taking antibiotics now :s
Talk soon!

Gauchita · 20/01/2012 11:34

Morning!

June, oh no, that cold is lingering, what a PITA. ABs will do the trick, though, so not long now

Snow, the nature of your job (or at least of its logistics) is quite last-minute, as far as I can see... so I bet all childcare arrangements are a headache for you. How are things at home? Has DH had his interview already? How did it go? When would you hear back from them? Look at me now bombarding you with questions Grin Sorry! Hope you have a good trip to the US. I've never watched MasterChef, can't say I watch too much TV since D was born Grin

Zhen, all fixed now???

Last meeting with MIL from hell today. She's going on holiday on Sunday, she said she planned it that way to avoid going to the airport, as M doesn't like goodbyes. The cynical in me thinks something will happen, she'll have to move her trip and on Tuesday she'll be there but hey...

Hope everyone's well.

4 days!!!

June2009 · 20/01/2012 18:40

Would love to meet up gauchita, where abouts will you be? Can pm if you prefer or text me when you cone back, soooooon now :) i bet you're really happy and can't wait.
Accountant is supposed to be doing our tax returns, always at the last minute...

Snow hope you figure out the childcare, how do you usually manage? It must be hard to find someone at short notice. How's things with dh? I must have missed some posts, are you moving again?
Zhen, oh dear, drilling :( hope the works arent making too much dust :s
I have to go for now catch up soon x

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 21/01/2012 12:45

afternoon all Smile

gauchita, not long now, I'm getting all excited and it's not even me Grin Bet dh can't wait to see you and the dcs! No more mil either you must be so relieved. I'd love a meet up, logistics may not be possible depending on when and where but will try! Did you manage to get your tax sorted? Right, so we have the catering for your return sorted now snow's volunteered prawn cocktail to go with the cheese and pickled onions and I have the for you, make sure dh is waiting with a red rose Grin don't you just love the cheese total romanticism of the 80's! There was so much more to the 80's than neon the scars will never leave me with classics such as Shock especially that fake tache.

snow, prawn cocktail added to the menu, what do you think of my music choices Grin It's cold indeed, although my lot are currently all out playing in the garden, for once it's been dry and they won't be caked in mud. Oh wow, I hadn't realised this may be a temporary move, which end of the country are you likely to end up, will you be closer to any family or friends? I'm watching masterchef, haven't seen any cheese and pickle onion hedgehogs yet [disappointed] Grin some lovely looking food so far even though it's still early days, Greg gets on my nerves slightly, I don't think the contestants are that interested in his point of view, they seem more attentive to John who is the actual chef, can't blame them.

june, hope you're feeling better soon Smile I'm so glad I don't have to do tax returns, no one I know who does thinks it's a good system. How's the running going or is it off limits for a while still?

zhen, hope things have been slightly quieter at home and no more drilling, sounds like major works. E has a deep growly voice he uses, usually accompanied by much stomping around, he's very funny. Are you on mat leave yet, can't be too far off if not?

skillbo, hope all's well with O and J Smile

I'm feeling like I need a holiday, a bit of warmth and sun would do wonders right now, shame I'm broke post christmas Grin

waves to all Smile

Gauchita · 21/01/2012 22:49

Evening all!

Ninja, June, I'll send you a PM if you want Smile First I'll ask DH some details I don't have Grin

June, how are you feeling? Hope this cold has left you already!!

Ninja, oh man you've made me laugh! Arf at those songs!!! Hedgehog and prawn cocktail sound good though Wink I must be honest I can't wait but I'm so so so afraid of getting too excited... I think I'll only allow myself to get excited once I'm on that plane. Roll on Tuesday, huh!? If you go somewhere warm, don't come here, it's way too hot atm Grin

Snow, have a nice trip tomorrow!

Hope everyone's well.

Woohoo! Yesterday was the last outing with MIL. So blinking happy about that! My level of keeping it schtum was overflowing and I was going to lose it any moment. Her boycotting every single parenting decision, even the smallest ones, was really really getting on my nerves, to say the least. Vile vile vile woman.

Two relaxing days ahead, must finish packing and exchange some clothes the DC got that are either too big or too ugly small Grin

Tax return submitted as well, yay.

Off to have dinner and then read a bit.

Waves!

ZhenThereWereTwo · 23/01/2012 21:39

Had a hell of a day today.

Just got back not long ago from A&E with DD. I was on a bus with DD sleeping happily in the buggy which was parked in the buggy space. The bus brakes very sharply (not sure why as traffic was stop and start at lights) and the whole buggy went flying over on top of DD and she whacked her head off the floor/side of the bus. Bus driver didn't even stop and see if she was ok even though I was trying to right the buggy with DD screaming in pain and fear Angry, and no one got up to help me pick up the buggy. Got off bus and went to local walk in, only to be told to go to A&E, so then had to get on a train and walk to get to nearest A&E. DD has a massive purple bump on her head, but is ok and doesn't appear to be showing signs of concussion at the mo so just got to keep an eye on her for next 48 hours.

Hope everyone has had a less stressful time than me today, will catch up tomorrow when I am less tired.

Gauchita · 23/01/2012 23:46

Zhen, oh my God!!! I'm so angry on your behalf... I can't believe what happened.

Glad to hear DD is well, albeit shocked and with a bump in her head Sad How are you? Please take it easy tonight and tomorrow.

Angry I can't believe no one helped you! Shame on them.

Please make a formal complaint with the bus company. Absolutely unacceptable the way they treated you and DD.

Brew and a massive (((hug)))

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 24/01/2012 10:13

morning all Smile

zhen, hope Z is ok, what is it with londoners Hmm hope you're going to complain to the bus company.

gauchita, not long now, you may even be on your way already Grin Pm would be good, hope you get a chance to put your feet up at some point though Grin so much travelling around!

E is at preschool so enjoying a few minutes peace and quiet, so much to do but I just can't find the energy this morning. Doesn't help I got soaked when I dropped him off Grin Traffic round here is a nightmare, they're doing roadworks on the road parallel to ours and have closed it to traffic one way so we have all the traffic redirected down our road, dd3's bus was half an hour late yesterday because they got stuck in it. It's going to last a couple of months at least and when they've done that they are going to resurface the road there and then carry on a bit further into town, it's going to be chaos for ages [sob]

rather soggy waves to all Smile
