GauchitaBell · 11/12/2010 15:05

Thanks, Bigcar! Xmas Smile

Oh, and thanks for the chickenpox tips!! Aw bless poor DS1 catching it after the very first day of school. Hmm, I'm starting to like the idea of two celebrations Xmas Grin

bigcar · 11/12/2010 15:15

it's typical, we knew after nursery he'd have problems settling in school, so to come down with it after the first day . . . [sigh] Of course christmas is fast approaching so that must warrant a night out too Xmas Grin

almost forgot, dd3 was a soldier in the nativity, pic on profile. She managed the whole thing much better than I expected, even picked up some of the signs, was lovely Xmas Smile

thanks for the new thread bigcar.Xmas Grin
gauchita poor M, how is she doing? Sad How are you doing? I put A in the bath a couple of times a day with his CP. Porridge oats in a stocking is v soothing on the spots and bicarbonate of soda does the same. We got some Piriton too and used that and Calpol or Brufen for the fever and general grumpiness! Happy birthday for tomorrow. Do not feel bad about expressing your frustrations! That is what we are here for!

bigcar I still haven't cut the mullet! We had an appt last week but then I had to go to hospital so we will try again this week. His curls are sooo cute but they really must go! What timing for DS1 getting CP!

june another Dec birthday! The list for DH sounds like a good idea. DH was planning on using his first week of pat leave for shopping etc and now I have stuffed that by having the baby next week! Not sure I am going to get any christmas presents. He can excel himself at times, so there may be some hope.

Christmas tree decorated, A was so cute, and a great help, he loved putting the decs on the tree. We got a lovely spruce, only a metre high but we can plant in the garden afterwards. Cards bought but have decided to wait until baby arrives to write them.

Happy Sat night, off for the guilty pleasure of x-factor whilst sorting out work invoices.

Actually, question for gauchita and june and anyone else self employed- did you get SMP?

AllSheepareWhite · 11/12/2010 20:12

Hi everyone,

Snow - A must have had such a good time decorating the tree, we won't be having one, but N saw one the other day at creative play and said 'wow, it's amazing!'. Maybe my mum will have one when we go to Dorset on the 20th.

BigCar - Thanks for the new thread. A night out, what a good idea will hint to DH :o N seems to be starting early with the tantrums, but as they get ignored she has taken to throwing herself dramatically on the floor and rolling around going 'ohhhh' to get attention!

Gauchitabell - sorry to hear about M, still enjoy your birthday, two celebrations sounds like a great idea!

June - Hope you enjoy your birthday and sushi, I love it too and am trying to get N into it at the moment, so far unsuccessful apart from edamame which she wolfs down :o

Am enjoying being at home with N at the moment, we have all been ill with chesty coughs. New job starting in Jan in lovely school so relaxing until then.

Hope everyone else is well (waves) :)

MrsMcJnr · 11/12/2010 22:05

Hey girls, remember me??

Sorry I have been away for so long but time has just flown. After we got back from our hols to Scotland in August I concentrated my energies on losing my baby (and boozing!) weight and now have 1lb to go until I reach my target weight, haven?t weighed this since 2000 and am so much happier!

I have also become a Flybaby and have been fluttering my way to a more organised house, again, that has made me happier!

Aaliyah is doing really well, 18m now and tall, blonde and curly with attitude. Terrible tantrums one day and all smiles the next, typical Gemini! Xavier is 2yrs10m and started nursery last week which is great because he does need the stimulation and the Spanish language skills but I miss him and am sad that the days of two babies at home all day with me the mistress of our days are over, even if they were hard at times. He is playing up a bit at the mo (as those on FB know!) but I guess there is a lot going on in his life at the mo.

How are all of you? No way I can catch up but hope to be back to stay now Smile

MrsMcJnr · 11/12/2010 22:15

Bigcar ? sorry to hear about the chickenpox Xmas Sad I had it over Christmas was when I was 13yrs old, not fun! Lovely about the nativity Xmas Grin

snowwombat · 12/12/2010 20:54

happy birthday gauchita Hope you enjoying your dinner and some nice champagne?

allsheep Yeah for finishing work. Sounds like the new school might be a lot easier than your old one. I love N's language- it is amazing! Hope your colds on the mend very soon.
MrsMc So great to see you back Xmas Grin. Well done on the weight loss and the flybaby too. Is it easy enough to start? How lovely that Z started nursery. Hope he settles in soon.
bigcar love the dd3 picture! You must be so proud of her.
june Happy birthday to you too. Was yours todaytoo? Sorry, must go check the old thread. Hope you enjoyed the sushi- yum!!

Nothing happening here. Baby jumping in and out of my pelvis. Hospital appt tom to see how things are going.

Last day of work tomorrow, finally!!
Must go and finish the invoices that didn't get done last night.
waves to all

MrsMcJnr · 12/12/2010 21:14

Hey Snowwombat Grin so you are getting close to meeting no 2 too! How exciting. A friend needed my carry cot for the buggy today and it felt strange setting it up. I am really starting to want another baby...

GauchitaBell · 12/12/2010 23:00

Hi all!

A quick message before going to bed Xmas Grin I had a lovely birthday today. DH spent the whole day with us, he brought some sushi for lunch and also a cake and my present Xmas Smile I got an iPad!!! Xmas Smile For the first time in AGES he actually remembered what I had said Xmas Grin I didn't expect it at all so it was indeed a surprise, well done DH Xmas Grin I couldn't have asked for more on my birthday really. I got so many emails and FB messages, both from here and from back home it was touching.

Snow, after tomorrow, you're putting your feet up, lady Xmas Smile Glad to hear things are going smoothly.

Allsheep, great to hear from you. Yay to school hols! I bet you're loving being at home with N Xmas Smile Well done N with her talking, a full sentence with subject and predicate! Xmas Smile

June, thanks for your message Xmas Smile Hope you had a lovely weekend.

Mrsmc, great to hear from you! What's Flybaby? Well done on the weight-loss front Xmas Smile I saw a pic of you on FB yesterday and noticed, you look fab!

I'm absolutely knackered, although we spent the whole day at home Xmas Grin I have an interpreting assignment tomorrow morning so I must go to bed Xmas Smile

Waves!

June2009 · 13/12/2010 12:57

hehe gauchitabell dh has been asking me if I want an ipad, do you like it?

snow I did not get smp in the end, I think something to do with the amount taken out (wages/dividends) needed to be the same so would only have been taken out by dh, pushing his earnings too high (to another tax band) or something along these lines - was actually working 5 days after birth anyway so didn't actually get a break to be paid for iyswim.

GauchitaBell · 13/12/2010 13:36

June, yes, it's very nice Xmas Smile M is watching a film on it right now Xmas Grin I'll MN from bed now Xmas Grin

Snow, right, I forgot to answer that question yesterday. I got Maternity Allowance. When I did all the research into maternity leave, etc, that's the option it gave for self-employed workers. Info here and here I think it came to about £400-odd a month, which might not be like a salary but every little helps Xmas Grin

Waves!

snowwombat · 14/12/2010 10:32

Wrote a long post and the computer ate it Xmas Confused.
Off to hospital this afternoon for the start of the induction. Baby unfortunately v high up so who knows how they are going to coax it out!
june and gauchita thanks for the info, looks like might be eligible for MA. Just need to get sorted.

Thanks everyone so much for your support. Will let you know when we have some news!
I can't believe there will be a baby by the weekend. V surreal.
x

June2009 · 14/12/2010 12:16

snow the very best of luck with everything, we'll be eagerly waiting for your news, your new baby will be here soon :D
take care!

GauchitaBell · 14/12/2010 12:25

Snow, oh how exciting! We'll be all thinking of you and sending good birthing vibes. Best of luck and take care! We'll eagerly wait for news Xmas Smile

June2009 · 14/12/2010 22:16

I hope snow has had her baby by now, inducing can take a while sometimes though.
mrsmc good to have you back :D hope everything is ok, I haven't really kept up with fb! Are you planning on having more children?
Well done on the weight loss, I know how hard it is. I lost loads (3 stones now) but still (just under) 1.5 stones to go.

gauchita How's M doing?
glad to know you had a good bday party, what did M. think of sushi?
I'm really looking forward to our sushi night this friday and some friends coming over on saturday. I'm ot sure what to cook yet, I fancy tacos and fajitas at the moment but they have been to latin america and I don't know how authentic "old el paso" (sp?) really is.
i just ordered Dh got me the ipad too ;) happy days! (should be delivered next week sometime).

allsheep It's nice to hear back from you, enjoy your holiday, and good luck with the new job :D Hope you get better soon, we've all got a cold at the moment, not too bad though.

Thanks for starting the new thread bigcar :) hope all is well, have all the kids broken off from school yet? Cute pic of dd3 on your profile :D

hmm, it's getting late I'd better go!
take care juners!

bigcar · 15/12/2010 14:11

afternoon all Xmas Smile

snow, wow, hope all's well and you're snuggling your lovely newborn Xmas Smile

allsheep, are you on your christmas hols now? Can't wait, my dcs all finish friday lunch time, snow permitting of course Xmas Hmm can't wait, no more school run for a couple of weeks [huge yay]

gauchita, how's M doing with the cp? Your dh done good then!!!!!! Wonderful pressie, good to hear you had a good time.

MrsMcJnr, lovely to see you back good to hear you're doing so well, fantastic weight loss. You got X into a nursery eventually then, that's great, what does he think of it all? You're not on your own with the broodiness on this thread Xmas Grin

june, lovely pressie for you too Xmas Smile and great weight loss for you too! Must get my backside in gear and do something about the size of mine Xmas Grin

we've put our decorations up and E absolutley loves them, he keeps turning the lights off on the tree though Xmas Hmm Oh well, let's hope the snow holds off for just a couple more days, any time after friday lunch time is fine by me! Waves to all Xmas Smile

OP posts:
GauchitaBell · 15/12/2010 19:49

Hi all!

Bigcar, oh we have something similar here but not with lights but ornaments Xmas Hmm I'm hoping the novelty will wear off soon Xmas Grin We're supposed to be getting snow as of tomorrow, boo hoo, hope not. HOpe it holds off for you until Friday so that school run is not too affected Xmas Smile

June, yay! Well done DH you for getting an iPad birthday pressie Xmas Wink You'll love it, so many things to do! M loves playing on an app called iplay&sing where she can "draw" using her finger and also play the piano! Soo cute! Download it, it's free! You're not going to believe this but M suddenly doesn't want water on her head during bath-time I really really hope this is not the beginning of some bath phobia Oh, M didn't have any sushi on Sun, DH arrived quite late (1ish) and she had already eaten and was not hungry Xmas Grin She did have some of the carrot threads with soy sauce though Xmas Hmm

Snow, hope things are going well and you're already cuddling the little baby!

Right, M's spots started fading on Monday, yes, you read right. Odd indeed. So we called the doc and he said it might not be CP after all Xmas Grin And I guess he's right as they've faded completely now Xmas Grin I must say I was a bit excited she'd caught it as it was something less to think about in the future Xmas Grin Oh well, maybe next time! Apparently it was a virus that gave her a rash. It's gone now so the virus was short-lived Xmas Hmm

Tomorrow is her last day of nursery before the Christmas break, then January will be her last month, we've already given notice of withdrawal Xmas Smile

On a different note, I think I went a little overboard with the Christmas gifts for M Xmas Grin They're all small things but now they're quite a few! Hope she doesn't get used to that Xmas Grin

Right, no French these days, the DVD suddenly stopped working and they're sending me a new one now. It's supposed to arrive this week. Off to watch some TV! Xmas Grin Ugly Betty is on tonight Xmas Blush

Hope you're all well Xmas Smile

Waves!

June2009 · 16/12/2010 06:16

heya, spoke to skies on fb and she says "hello" :) they're all well. C has started saying "uh-oh" as well.

I've been up since 5am, I lost sleep worrying about the size of mil's rocking horse that is being delivered today. I'll try and post a pic when it comes.
Is it just me or woulnd't you be a bit hacked off as well?
mil was sitting on the sofa the other day, looking out the french windows saying "I see it here in front of the window" and while it probably would be a lovely spot for it, this is also where my big lovely footstool - that we spent ages deciding whether to buy or not - is. And it's NOT going in the loft!

Isn't it a bit like buying someone a chest freezer? Yeah you could use one but, where are you going to put it?

Oh the other thing is that we looked up the one she said it was and it's suitable from 6y+ (!) If that's the case dh and I agreed mil has to take it to her house for the next 5years. Grin

I have to get over it and find see the funny side...

I'll keep you posted ;)

GauchitaBell · 16/12/2010 10:33

June, I think it's a great, and reasonable, idea that she takes it and keeps it if it indeed is for children 6+. After all, if it's that huge, C won't be able to play with it or "ride" it for the time being.

YANBU at all, btw. The chest freezer example is accurate, you can't just give someone something that big without asking them. Your footstool is going nowhere Xmas Wink

Alternatively, if you can't find a place for it you can always tell her C was terrified of it and you had to put it away in the loft for a while but actually sold it on ebay I would do that, but then I've been burnt before so I have no tolerance in this area whatsoever unfortunately.

I'm so sorry this didn't let you sleep well ((hug))

June2009 · 16/12/2010 12:14

riiiiiight, photo on the profile...

GauchitaBell · 16/12/2010 14:00

June, I can't access your profile. It might be because I have a new name now so you have to add me to your MN mates again Xmas Smile

June2009 · 16/12/2010 14:07

Just been on the site where she got it from and it's on 1/2 price sale at the moment, she's not going to be pleased with that!! (she paid full price for it).

The tag says not suitable for children under 36 months, the site says it's "from 6 yo approximately".

C saw it on when she got back from nursery, she got scared and cried. As expected really, she will probably get used to it eventually.

I'm a bit down about having a huge rocking horse in the house that I don't know what to do with and that the baby doesn't like and probably will have nightmares about.

Argh my mil is so inconsiderate.

GauchitaBell · 16/12/2010 14:27

Gulp, that's big, June... I'm so sorry Xmas Sad What did/does DH say?

bigcar · 16/12/2010 17:22

evening all Xmas Smile

june, bloody hell that's big Xmas Hmm I'd second the thought of shifting it to mils, after all she should have the full advantage of seeing C play with such a treasured toy Xmas Wink I'm sorry but I wouldn't consider having it in my sitting room, way to many opportunities to fall off the damn thing every time you turn your back, especially as you have those gorgeous wooden floors. And fwiw a chest freezer is at least practical Xmas Grin It's lovely that she takes an interest and wants to buy her a lovely present but wouldn't you check first with such a large gift?

gauchita, good to hear M's better. Hope the new french dvd doesn't get stuck in the christmas post. No snow here yet thankfully!

hope all's well snow Xmas Smile

waves to all Xmas Smile
