Will this do everyone?

OP posts:

Clara meant to say I will try to message you tomorrow with the answers to your questions (not sure I can accurately remembe rbut will try)

FreakoidOrganisoid · 07/05/2012 21:54

Oh yes and I start work next mon, but am going in twice this week too. Will be doing nvq3 in childcare as well as a load of other certificates (first aid, safeguarding, food hygiene...) The money is a bit of a worry as am currently going to be worse off but hopefully will improve once I'm qualified.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 08/05/2012 12:39

FO good luck with the job!

Stranded yey to DD2 going to school with big sis.

I m not entirely happy with our choice, it is further away than the nearest school (which has a shit rep and did not do well in the latest OFSTED report), so a good 25min walk there. None of his preschool friends are going either.

Just fucked off with everything generally. DH constantly whinging about his job and constantly blowing stuff out of proportion, and dropping hints that I need to find a job - well there isn't any fucking jobs! Oh and constantly going on about "you need a business idea, you need to run your own business" like it is that bloody easy.
DCs are hard work atm, DS constantly playing up and DD being mega whingy as well. And house prices around here are getting lower so we are sinking further and further into negative equity. We are now over paying the mortgage to try and pay it down faster.

skidd · 14/05/2012 17:00

helloooo just marking my place to catch up later....

FreakoidOrganisoid · 27/05/2012 18:58

Ok I'll put my hands up and admit that I have been neglecting my mn friends now I have a bf Blush

Work is going well, children seem to have taken to me well. Hall is massive though and I'm struggling with having to shout so loud! Not really sure what I'm doing still, feels a bit like all I do is get everything out of the cupboards, play for a couple of hours then put it all back! Hopefully will get more used to doing the observations etc soon. The other two seem to spend hardly any time playing and a lot of time doing paperwork but I think that's mainly because they are manager and deputy manager and I'm the only bog standard play worker.

Other than that not much to report, had ds' starting school meeting last week so found out his teacher (same as dd had Smile) and starting dates etc. Only 3 weeks of half days . I was going to take the dc with me as didnt have a sitter but then bf volunteered to babysit. Of course they played him up massively, it was early for them to go to bed anyway and they were so overexcited that they just went a bit crazy. I was really embarrassed especially when he told me some of what they'd done (grabbing each others bits Shock, throwing the cat downstairs Angry...) But he suggested a day out with them today so he can't have been too put off.

strandednomore · 29/05/2012 14:42

Hi - me again, marking my place although no point really because we are off on holiday to Florida this week so I will have lost my place again by the time I next log on! Glad the job is going well Clairey, things like observations will get easier in time. If you fancy a move to Cheltenham they're looking for a play leader for dd2's preschool!!! Also really good to hear how well it's going with your bf - sounds lovely and how nice to have rampant sex again (sigh).
Sorry to hear things are a bit meh with you BT. I feel your pain about "starting your own business" - as if it were so easy! And even if it were, no guarantee you would get much of an income from it. There might be more work in the antenatal/parenting area soon as the Gov is putting money into it but no guarantees, it's all a bit up in the air at the moment.
Otherwise as mentioned off to Florida this week, I should be more excited than I am - I will be but still got a few chores to do, packing etc. Nearly there though! Think I will have a glass of wine to celebrate tonight, that'll get me in the mood!
x

FreakoidOrganisoid · 01/06/2012 16:40

Ds has chicken pox. Worst thing is I took him to work with me this morning as we were having a jubilee picnic so have exposed 24 kids to it!! He is completely plastered, all inside his mouth etc too. Amazing how quickly they have come out, from no spots this morning to covred head to toe now. Am finding it quite fascinating watching them all appear.

buzzybee · 04/06/2012 10:16

Hello all!!! Have been lurking but not posting. Life seems rather ho hum at present. I think it's just the on-set of winter really. Anyway nothing very exciting to report to you all in that far off land of exciting celebrations and Olympics :) I have booked a trip to Vietnam for Nov - did I mention that? Florida sounds nice Clara!

But listen to me ... BT sounds a bit grim for you too. Maybe it's just this age - I can't wait for DD2 to start school, but she's got a whole 8 months more.

Poor DS Clairey, I hate the thought of Chicken Pox even. And I guess that means a few days off from the new job? It all sounds a bit different from how day nurseries work here - all our staff are called teachers and do pretty much the same job except for the head teacher who spends more time in the office. If you're at all interested this is our website www.daisies.co.nz

Skid - no wobbly teeth here yet! Have you got the bullying sorted?

Oh and Clara are you still looking for those birth stories?

FreakoidOrganisoid · 04/06/2012 13:01

It is pretty horrible buzzy, he still had really smooth and soft baby skin and now its all rough and bumpy and he's just so sore with it.

Bloody cat is pregnant (yes my fault I know Blush), she's only 11 months herself so it could all go wrong, she probably doesn't have the right instincts yet to know what to do.

Went to a wedding reception with bf last night, our first card with both our names in and people kept calling me his other half which was a bit scary!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 04/06/2012 13:15

Buzzy it is half term here so am not having to take time off at the moment, that will happen in 2 weeks when dd catches it! Your website looks really good, I guess it's a bit more like a private nursery here than a pre-school but with more focus on teaching. Staff ratios look really good, there are just three of us for 24 children

KaraStarbuckThrace · 06/06/2012 08:56

FO - sorry to hear DS has Chicken pox!! Hope the poor little fellow is okay. Had DD managed to escape it? HAs she had it already? Glad things are going well with the bf Smile
Buzzy - your website is great and your nursery looks amazing! I love your cloth nappy policy :)

Things are looking up, think I mentioned I have been doing Kleeneze, going to jack it in as I cannot devote enough time to make it worth my while, I am not earning very much and yet seem to spend a lot of time on it to get few orders. So am jacking it in. And DH has had an interview with a company only 20mins away from home! They interviewed him last year but there was another candidate available straight away, but they then approached him for a second interview which had on Friday and it went really really well. He hopes to hear by next week!
IT'll be a car allowance rather than a company car (which will be odd as he has had a company car for 11 years) but it will save us a boat load of cash in tax and also means we'll get more visitors as people rely on us to do the visiting due to the free fuel!
Really, really hope he gets it. It will me that most days instead of leaving at 6.30am he can leave at 8am, and be home by 6pm instead of 7pm!

skidd · 11/06/2012 12:24

hello

It has been SUCH a long times since I've been on here - life is so manic atm

clairey - glad it's going so well with BF and new job - all sounds fantastic. Sorry about DS's chicken pox, hope he's feeling a bit better

BT - job sounds really promising - will cross my fingers for your DH

buzzy - sorry you're feeling a bit meh. I had that before DD started school - she was so ready and unstimulated by boring me. Agree website looks amazing

clara - enjoy Florida! Glad NCT course is going well - sounds like you're really enjoying it

All OK here, very busy and working nearly full time now. DS1 has his assessment starting this Thursday but he has been fantastic the last few weeks - everyone has been commenting on how much more outgoing and happy he is - so they might laugh us out of the assessment! Blush but also Smile

buzzybee · 24/06/2012 02:07

hey skidd
Yes we do all seem to be trailing off on using this thread don't we?
I have been wondereding about BT's suggestion of migrating to FB. I was not keen initially as I quite like how this thread works but recently I have joined a "private" FB group which works quite well - and I think we all use FB fairly regularly don't we? I might set one up anyway as I think we run the risk of this dying completely and I'd actually feel quite sad about that after "knowing" you guys for over 5 years!!!!

Anyway - how did DS's assessment go?? Great to hear that he's been progressing in leaps and bounds.

How was Florida clara?

Are school hols over Clairey? Do you also not work over the long summer break? Has DS recovered from his chicken pox?

buzzybee · 24/06/2012 02:28

OK so here's the link to the new FB group.

www.facebook.com/groups/174622129335588/#!/groups/174622129335588/

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/06/2012 21:03

Last two weeks have been a nightmare! I've literally been at work or stuck in with pox girl. Arranging childcare was a massive stress but in the end i only had to take two days off.

Bf has been away too Sad Dc eent to london over half term as xh had family over(between ds recovering and dd catching it!), bf and i went to cornwall to stay with his parents! Was bit scary but they were lovely, really looked after us. Hopefully they liked me too! But then was hard going from having spent 4 nights with him to him being away.__

Buzzy yes I get the summer holiday off. Its unpaid but they average my pay over the year so I get paid every month.

Skid how did ds' assessment go?

Bt did he get the job?

skidd · 12/07/2012 21:14

Hi all, if anyone is still reading this. I don't use fb much so would really like to keep this going if possible but obviously if everyone prefers fb then I will just have to start using it!

Wow clairey - sounds like things are getting really serious with your bf - have you declared love for each other yet? How fantastic that you have found someone so nice after everything that's happened. Very very Smile for you

DS's assessment went OK thanks. He hasn;t received a diagnosis (I don;t think - still waiting for the report), certainly not of ASD, but he has autistic traits and only time will tell whether they turn out to be nothing or whether he gets a diagnosis at a later date. So basically we're still in limbo but the positive thing was that they said he has sensory processing difficulties and they gave us some really good tips on how to deal with this which have made a big difference. He is doing really well atm so it feels like it's OK not to know for now at least.

How is everyone else (if anyone is there)?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 15/07/2012 17:21

Yes, DH got the job Grin he starts mid september!

Skidd yes I do check this thread occasionally. i won't forget you!

DS went for lunch at his new school, got a meeting on Monday to get more info in which I hope they tell us about uniform requirements and shit like that because I haven't a clue Blush

Am a bit pissed off at the school as I needed to feed DD in the hall where we were having lunch and they told me I would have to go to the parents room as the kids were all coming in to have their lunch Angry Apparently I might embarrass the older (10/11yo) boys!!! Hmm
