Berolina ?hope the new cot and co-sleeping went well last night. Funnily enough, I also sing Summertime to my DS as well, bless him, he is the only person who DOESN?T complain when I start to sing

Trib, good luck with the house hunting in Leeds

EYM ? what a gorgeous little boy.

Coop, I?ve been using wipes from about week 2. I just couldn?t be a**ed using cotton wool any longer. So saying that, I do still use cotton wool on DS?s face and neck. I asked my MW about them and her advice was try them once ? you?ll soon know if they are going to irritate the baby?s skin. My DS is fine with them.

Lynny, looking forward to hearing about it. Hope you did have some fun while you were away

I?ve been making it to the gym at the moment quite regularly. I just go and do 40 mins aerobic stuff 2-3 times as week, then when I can be bothered, I?ll do a few weight bits and bobs back at home. It makes me feel better about the enormous portions I am tucking away, followed by chocolate every night. Its not good . However, I cant seem to shift the flabby stomach look. I'm doing all the right excercises. Maybe it just takes time . Anyone else having this, or have you all got perfect pre-prgy stomachs now? If so, please do share your secrets...

charleypops · 14/09/2005 18:23

Coop - lol at poor dd2's leg stickers! I've been using wipes for ages They're always 2 for one at Mothercare, therefore irresistable - ALL my good intentions have disappeared somewhere....

EYM - Lovely pics! I'll have to upload some of mine.

Jonah - I've - still just under a stone to go, but it's taking absolutely ages. I think you're right, it does take time. Think all the excess is on my tum.

Cooperoo · 14/09/2005 18:44

Hello
Lynny - Hope you enjoyed some of your hols. Great to have you back though.
Jonah - I say it took us 9 months to get like this, we should allow 9 months to get back again. Any quicker we are doing well. I actually stretched this rule to 12 months when dd1 was 9 mths old lol and still never got back to where I was. So yes very wobbly tummy here . Am in my pre preg clothes, but they are rather tighter on me than they were. I am very impressed with all this gym attendance. I also maintain that you need lots of food to b/f (although perhaps cake is not the sort of food that is ideal!)
Bero - I liked that cot thing. Am I right in thinking it becoms a highchair too??
Both dd's in bed asleep. Since I last posted dd2 has rolled over, all apart from that pesky arm that gets in the way and also been really laughing at dd1 in the bath. I thought she had laughed once before but it was nothing compared to this ongoing belly chuckle. Was so lovely.
Well dh is out all night so I am all ready for bed and will be going very shortly. How nice to get an early night. I have given up on the dream feed as dd wakes up at 1.30 regardless so I can actually enjoy an early night now. Oh how times have changed. Once upon a time I needed dh here to enjoy an early night .

Charley - I think wipes are always 2 for 1 somewhere! When we moved out here I had been stocking up everytime I saw an offer when I was pregnant and we had a whole box packed that was full with Pampers Sensitive wipes .

evening all
Jonah - aaahhhh, our babies have best taste in music
Coop - yup, becomes a high chair, for later a child-sized bench, little desk, and there was sthg else I can't remember. dh is putting it together as I speak - we got back too late to use it last night. I've heard the 9 months rule too and it reassures me Glad things are going better.
lynny - nice to see you back.
eym - awwwww, lovely lovely pics.
Am rather upset atm due to a letter from my parents (all is explained on 'bit sad - parents' thread on Relationships) and ds is having a rare screamy day - overtired or wind, we reckon. Oh well.

eastyorksmum · 14/09/2005 21:32

MrsWednesday · 14/09/2005 21:33

Great pictures EYM! William looks really scrumptious.

I also had a peek at Bubb's DS and Coop's knees on the member profiles. Oscar is gorgeous and so are your knees Coop

Lippy, on the potty training I'd say go with what's easiest for you - my personal feeling would be to wait until after the holiday but I'm lazy (at 2.9 DS was practically begging to wear his spiderman knickers instead of nappies )

Lynny, good to see you again, hope your holiday had some good points as well.

Lots of knuckle-chewing going on here too (and not just his own!). DS2 lurches forward, usually headbutting whoever is holding him, in his haste to get them in his mouth . I'm impressed with all the rolling that's going on, DS2 has tried a couple of times but gets stuck on his side.

Another one with a wobbly tummy. I'm trying to remember to suck it in (supposedly 'training' the muscles to go back) but it isn't working. I also did a few sit-ups a couple of times last week but gave up because a six-pack didn't immediately emerge. Hope you enjoyed your class Lippy. Are you gym-goers just going in the evening?

Coop, I'm also using wipes (sensitive ones) because I found the cotton wool too much of a hassle. I went back to cotton wool when DS2 had a nasty nappy rash but I realised after a few days that the 3 or 4 Granny Smith apples I was eating every day was causing it, and since that point I've gone back to wipes with no problem at all. Missing the apples though - they kept me regular (sorry, sure you didn't want to know that!)

Thanks for all the kind words about my bad days, it's so reassuring to know I'm not the only one struggling. Things have been better but DS1 has been in nursery for the last two days (no doubt impressing everyone with his vast array of swearwords ). We'll see how the next few days go when it's the three of us again...

Right, off to bed. I need an early night after DS1 was up twice in the night, unfortunately not at the same time as DS2 who was also up twice, so I'm completely knackered today (DH has been working late for the last few days too, so I've had to do bedtime for both of them which isn't fun).

Lua · 14/09/2005 21:34

Hi all!

It does sound like our sweet newborns are no more! I'm impressed with your DD Coop! trying to sit up!
DS has been ratherlazy. He has turned a couple of times, but doesn't make a habit out of it... He has learned to enjoy belly time though and is absolutely mesmerized with the music mobile!
sfx - I really hope is not teething! DD had her first set of choppers at 5 months though!

Lynny- so good to see you back! How was your nana?

Lippy - you think your DD is ready, I'll give it a try - I find garden time walking without pant the easiest way. I knwo I would loose my patience with accident all over the house, IYSWIM.

Northern mums - pop over MrsW thread and let us know if you can come on the 27th.

sfxmum · 14/09/2005 23:11

night all
am so very tired, but also still quite tense and therefore unable to sleep.
dd was unsettled last night, woke up at 2.30,4 and 6, after that not much sleep was had. well day went ok but not much in way of naps. her feeding is also allover the place, for a while there, it was nearly every hr. guess i will wake up to leaky boobs.

bero- lovely cot, i got a bedside cot too but the thing is huge and i did not have the heart to put her there for the first month, i really enjoyed co sleeping, these days i still bring her o my bed after the early morning feed. glad baby ok, its always such a worry.

lippy and fellow gym goers, well done, do impressed i have yet to find the time, so miss running.
i put on about 3st so it will be a while, about half way there. keep saying to myself ' those ryvita with cottage cheese are delicious'

tribpot- happy househunting, so glad i moved just before dd arrived, i think there is still a box to unpack lurking around somewhere

coop-cradle cap stil going on, not too severe and i hardly put anything in it, it will go i am sure.
dd also trying to pull herself up. if i offer a steady hand she wobbles to sitting position. still the funiest is when she is on her belly turning around legs in the air, very cute.

lovely pics of babies, they always look so angelic.

oh yes baby cinema, they have it in town, its for mums with babies the movies are subtittled and i think its not as dark, and since everyone has a baby they are a lot more tolerant of baby noises, just waiting for a movie i might want to see.
charley- washing up, well, sorry, at this time dh does it all, i close my eyes and hope for the best. but none of my clothes are going in there

hope you all have a peaceful night

welshmum · 15/09/2005 09:44

Morning Junies all,
I seem to be losing all the weight with no effort at all - which is fab and all down to bfing - still very flabby in the stomach region though and I can't seem to get myself to the gym - would rather crash on the sofa and eat chocolate after putting the kids to bed. I have taken up knitting in the vain hope that it'll stop me eating it a bit - but I find I put off picking up the needles until the chocolate has all gone I am hoping to get to the gym this week but only to have a massage. During the day I do alot of walking (can't drive) so I count that as the excersize.
Sfx and Coop - what clever babies you have - trying to sit up already.
Sfx sorry you had a bad night - I find ds is changing his feed times at night and I can't rely on anything much. As long as he's in his wn bed at 7pm and not waking me too much I'm trying not to worry - I think he's getting more and more hungry.
Coop - I'm doing the olive oil thing for the cradle cap - ds doesn't have much but dd had loads and still has areas of it now, bless her - luckily you can't see it under all her wavy hair. I'm hoping it'll go with time.
I'm off to baby cinema later - Red Eye is showing - don't know much about it but I just love putting my feet up and chilling out with ds.
Dd had her first ballet class yesterday - she was over the moon with it and really did well (proud mummy alert) She just looked adorable in her leotard and tights - I felt quite tearful. Ds came with me and he was fascinated by it all - especially the piano music.
Wishing you all a good day - it's pouring with rain here.

Lua · 15/09/2005 10:29

Morning all!
Had a tough night myself. I think DS woke up 5 times! After the third time, I just gave up and put him in bed, which I guess just makes thing worst...But I was soooo tired. Its crazy isn't? Just last week he was going through the night with a single feed, and I was getting so excited. oh well! let's blame it on a growth spurt and hope is a phase

welshie - How old is your DD again? 3.5? I think DD would love the idea of ballet classes, but I wasn't sure when to start looking for it.
I'm with you in the chocolate front. I promisse I won't buy anymore chocolate, and then go out and buy 2 instead of one !
I am currently in love with the dark chocolate with hazelnut bars from Lindt- yummy!

Charley -did you recover the clothes? hope so!

Charley and MrsW - hats off to you for even trying the cotton wool. I never figured out the logistic of it! Have no problems using cloth nappies, and washing them, but never figured out how to have something moist when I needed, IYSWIM. There are though "eco" wipes , which I keepmeaning to buy, but DH always comes back with a 2 for 1 deal!

Hope you guys all have a nicer day than ungly Manchester!

sfxmum · 15/09/2005 12:04

morning all
lovely night. good morning so far. taking the recent disposition as a phase , no expectations. like you say, glad its easy to get her to settle when she does.

re cotton wool, it went the same way as re usable nappies, clearly hell is full of good intentions.

got family visiting today, let's see if i can interest them in some ironing, or maybe dusting

good day all

eastyorksmum · 15/09/2005 12:32

Morning mums hugsssss

just got back from baby clinic, and my doctor apointment, william is thriving weight 12 1b 3 lol
he was good bless him was waiting all thie time from 930 am good job i took feed ect, HV thinks maybe should get intouch with cruise you know maybe talk to someone about mum? I try not to cry to much because i think ill upset william, im thinking baout it anyway.

Doctors app went well hes re ferring me to breast clinic he thinks im been sensible hard decission to make but i think its best to be aware as all my sisters have now been to their docs too.

Welshie how lovely your litle girl first ballet lesson aww me and my sisters went to dance class when we were young tap and ballet we loved it.

Lua try and have a snap if you can, william did the same last nite he woke three times and he was in his cot, so im very tired today too.

sfxmum wow your little one pulling herself up how old is she?

Hey how brilliant some of our junne babies are trying to sit up, and roll over, well done . I know when i was running my baby rooms i always encouaged my babies to be active its amazing how quickly a baby develops, of course with lots of interaction too. Even at the begining of the day I used to include all the babies in circle time (singing nursery rhymes, reading stories)

charley i hope you got the washing sorted, i was going to say try glow white.

have a lovley afternoon mums xxxxxxxx

Cooperoo · 15/09/2005 12:38

Bero - That piece of furniture is obviously a complete bargain!
I am very of those of you with baby cinema. What a brilliant idea.
It sounds like I am the only one making such a longwinded job of nappy changes then, using both cloth nappies and cotton wool and warm water! I think perhaps I will dig out my washable wipes.
DD2 had her jabs today and this week it made me cry! Her little face was so shocked and she really went for it crying although she did settle fairly quickly with a little b/f.
On a nice note my HV said that my girls were lucky to have me as their mother . I thought this was lovely, although she probably says it to everyone I don't care. Made me feel I am doing a good job which we all need sometimes. She knows us quite well as she has looked after dd1 too and it is a small world living on this camp so we see her out socially too, so I did feel she wasn't just saying it IYKWIM.
On a bad note I went to have my dental x-rays today to be told that part of one of my teeth is loose and only held in place by a previous filling . How can I not have noticed half my tooth has fallen off! I have to have the filling out and the bit of tooth removed and the whole lot replaced with a whopping great filling and they won't do a white one . I am really not good with dentists (due to a complete arsehole who once gave me two fillings with no anaesthetic until I screamed) and burst into tears on the way home and was still sobbing when I walked in the front door. What a wuss! Had to pull myself together as dd1 was not in bed having her nap and so saw me. Ooops! She gave me such a big hug and kiss to make it better though.
My Next stuff has finally arrived and I am glad to report that it all fits....I am just not sure if I like it all. Perhaps something to do with my 'muffin top' belly and breastfeeding bras and pads. Grrrr.
Welshie - I am with you on the b/f for weightloss and walking everywhere. I am doing my 10000 steps a day easily at the mo (something to do with a toddler to chase I think). I need to work on the sit ups though and stop treating myself.
Lua - I am the same as you regarding buying biscuits and chocolate. I seem to panic if we have none in the house, and if it is here I eat it lol. Right have to go as am of to get my eyes tested and have to feed dd2 before I go.
Hope you are all ing and take care.

EYM -Sorry xposted. Glad all OK and William thriving. Crap about your wait though! Grrr. Keep us posted on the screening etc. Really am thinking of you. Think Cruse may well be an idea. It is sometimes good to talk to a stranger, especially one who knows what they are talking about. Take care xx

Hi Junies

Haven't posted since monday, so no hope of catching up . I have been lurking though. I've just been knackered and have recurring sinus problem, so have been to docs today and DH has taken day off work to help me out.

EYM william looks so cute!

On the cotton wool debate, we used it for the first few weeks for everything, but it was a real pain getting clean warm water each time! Moved onto wipes for bum at about 4 weeks. We still use cotton wool and water to top and tail in the mornings. As I mentioned, wipes are great and now get used for doing the dusting etc in my house - also good for a quick wash if dd won't let me jump in the shower in the morning !

On the development front, dd lifts her back and head clear of her vibrating chair now if she is being particularly nosey and is constantly pushing off the end of her changing mat with her feet as if she is trying to roll, so we will be keeping an eye on her. Have just started trying to put her on her tummy for 5 mins every day - I know we talked about this a while ago, but what are everyone elses LOs like on their tummies now? She either gets frustrated trying to push herself up with her arms, or kind of rolls around on her tummy with arms and legs extended (like a horizontal weeble ).

evening ladies!

lynny- what a dreadful fright, so glad all ok

my angelic little monkey has been asleep since 8, i fed her then left her in cot after cuddle, she was all smiles, sucked her fingers a little and was off, she woke up about 1/2hr later dad burped her and she was straight back to sleep.
we had a nice day, my aunt and one of my sisters came to visit they brought lovely clothes for dd and did me some housework

not meaning to overstate dd's abilities, she pulls herself up but not from flat position i usually prop her up on soft pillow. she also rotates out of changing mat and baby gym, when she is not wacking the toys with her rattle.
my favourite is her ability to scratch her head and play with her ear while i feed her. very monkey like i think you'd agree.

lets hope the night goes ok. at least have good chunk of evening to waste away however i please (checking on her every 10 min)

good night all
