If you are considering voting for someone else, or not voting at all?

New Pm and cabinet! They no longer represent me. If they took decisive action to enforce the For Women Scotland Supreme Court ruling I would perhaps start to have a little hope that women are a priority but I don’t see that happening. Same if they were to stop selling arms to Israel, but it’s not going to happen.

Upstartled · 30/10/2025 09:25

Grow the economy in a meaningful way - 2+% gdp growth and for that growth to be off the back of increased productivity and not uncontrolled migration, reduce unemployment - especially among the young, and for them not to mobilise against the supreme court ruling on sex segregated spaces. I have a long list of things that I'd like but that would be the minimum to swing it.

It would require a level of fiscal competence that is beyond them, for them to stop hammering businesses and to stop killing off aspiration through additional taxation - so I won't hold my breath.

I didn’t vote for them and there’s nothing they could do that would make me consider ever doing so. Keir Starmer is an awful awful human being.

He may be a shit prime minister, but I don’t see how he’s an awful human being…

tanstaafl · 30/10/2025 09:29

Have conviction?
I can’t shake the feeling Starmer is already thinking of his career after this term, likely Human Rights something in the EU/UN.
Drop Digital ID.

Crikeyalmighty · 30/10/2025 09:33

To be honest I don’t have an issue with them ( and I’m a Lib Dem voter) but certainly make moves towards at least an EEA type arrangement at minimum - Brexit has done nothing positive, and you aren’t going to change the minds of those who are all about sovereignity - but you might actually save some businesses and lower some costs and giveaquick boost to the economy.

JustReacher · 30/10/2025 09:45

Recognise what a woman is
Take the Supreme Court ruling seriously and make organisations comply
Get the police to do some actual policing and stop attending bullshit NCHIs
Deal with VAWG using the full force of the law
Take rape allegations seriously and improve prosecution rates
Realise that the employers NI increase has slowed down hiring
Consider that the workers rights bill will have the same effect as employers won't hire if they can never fire anyone
Realise that the renters reform bill will put people off being landlords as it will be very hard to get rid of a terrible tenant
Stop taxing us as much, over 50% tax
Recognise that the top 10% pay 60% of tax - don't make them all leave!
Sort out the NHS
Sort out the small boats

angelos02 · 30/10/2025 09:46

Stop there ever being a scenario in which someone that doesn't work earns more than someone that works full time on minimum wage. (unless there is a severe disability obviously). If someone that works is expected to live on that amount of money, why should someone that doesn't. Madness.

angelos02 · 30/10/2025 09:47

No benefits if you weren't born here - for at least 10 years and having paid in.

angelos02 · 30/10/2025 09:48

Don't bring in Digital ID's.

Swiftasthewind · 30/10/2025 09:52

This country is in shambles after 14 years of far right austerity. Fixing it will take decades which the greater public should be taking into account. This is a project and Labour have made a good job of plugging gaps in national debt, they just need to get on with the job and ignore all the incessant smears from bad faith operators.

EasternStandard · 30/10/2025 09:52

No digital ID
New PM and cabinet
And even then they might need to sit it out and think about how badly they’re doing.

hattie43 · 30/10/2025 09:54

Resign . The whole crooked lot of them .

Echobelly · 30/10/2025 10:05

They'd have to stop repeating bullshit right wing narratives and start refuting them and act accordingly. Eg the problem is not people on benefits or refugees, it's businesses and individuals who are profiting massively off underpaying people and underpaying tax. Addressing that would be a start.

Pay me back my £k of VAT for private school and drop it going forward so my child can stay in the school she loves for 6th form.

Edited

Well yes, I think that's a policy we could all get on board with, isn't it? Make private education affordable for this girl! No no, I don't mind about mine! I don't mind about all the others! But for the love of god allow this girl to have the education of her choosing!

Crikeyalmighty · 30/10/2025 10:08

Really don’t get the digital ID issue - we had them in Denmark it was no big deal and very useful in lots of ways- only person I know who objected turned out he was up to dodgy stuff and it made it harder -

Or they could improve the state option and make it SEN accessible and all areas comps as good as the London options.
Would have been better to do that first before taxing education.

They're not 'taxing education', they are closing a bizarre loophole which means private institutions have not been paying VAT.

The title of the thread is what they could do to make me vote for them. Taking the choice of what I do with my inheritance to help my child away from me is what has made me actively hate them.

it's a fair point re. thread title but to me, a bit depressing that voter intentions can be so entirely based on an individual's own self-interest. So if Starmer handed you back the tax you have to pay, you'd vote for them? It'd be that simple?

MrsFantastic · 30/10/2025 10:18

Contemporaneouslyagog · 30/10/2025 08:35

If they can deport one man quickly and give him £500 start going it for the others . I've never understood why Rwanda was do demonised a country . The British council have been supporting the government and investing with aid for several decades .
Also remember what a woman is and give us back our rights

This man wanted to be deported to avoid more time in gaol. They gave him the money to stop him from claiming asylum.

I want my child to have education, she can't at our state options, so they have taken that option away from her. Pretty big reason not to vote for them.

Precisely. Ban X, reintroduce the Islamophobia legislation and open secure and effective routes for refugees from Gaza. Do what you were voted in to do and ignore the clowns at GB News who will always pitch a fit no matter what you do. After 14 years of Tory austerity the country is crying out for a real left wing government to bring grown up policies to the table.

Another poster suggested reading this as parody and it’s way better.

Yeah I thought it was a joke
