DEI is not designed to give a job to anyone who has less qualifications over another person who has more qualifications for the job. It is designed to get people from minority groups into jobs for which they equally qualified but are under represented. The goal is that People of Colour will no longer underrepresented in certain areas of employment. If underrepresented in the job they are applying for, DEI insures that black people would get the job over the white person. Unfortunately, because of racial bias it was white people that were given that preference before. (Sometimes when the person of Colour was more qualified).

But Trump and his administration would have us believe that black people are being given jobs they are not qualified for, over white people that were more qualified. It’s absolute bullshit

To post that racism is limited to the minority in the U.K. is also bullshit. Racism is systemic and built into our institutions. As a result it’s possible to Participate in a racist system daily and be completely oblivious to your part in it.

And people are regularly racially profiled in one way or another.

I’ve referred to ‘Black people’ at times but am aware that it’s the same for other People of Colour.

This. I am not very familiar with US legislation, so I didn't want to mention it, but (to simplify) my understanding of affirmative action policies and DEI was that if there are two equally qualified candidates (one white and one ethnic minority) the employer had to give the job to the person of ethnic minority; NOT that the ethnic minority would be given the job with less qualifications.

urbanbuddha · 25/09/2025 03:20

It's lowering the standard for black people and others so that they can get into places where otherwise a native person would be there.

Define “native”.

OK I see. The claim that he was racist has got to be the most disingenuous thing I've ever heard. He was literally one of the most honest, hard working, virtuous men out there

Wow. You really are a big fan. "Literally one of the most honest, hard working, virtuous men" eh?

Circularmadness · 25/09/2025 06:07

@1dayatatime still not acknowledging the fact that Kirk fed you misinformation and you swallowed it and repeated it as fact? It matters because this is the problem with Kirk. He presents in a plausible “friendly” style but it’s largely propaganda. Propaganda is defined as “information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a particular cause, doctrine or point of view.” This is demonstrably what he was doing and you passed it off as fact. Michelle Obama did
NOT claim to to being a DEI hire. You said;

“So you clearly failed to understand what was said:
Michelle Obama stated that career wise she only got to where she was through DEI."
Charlie Kirk replied " yes we know" “

"The thing is they might be less qualified and still get the job because of their colour" that's the implications of the policy think about what Americans believe

DEI = didn't earn it
Black people are disadvantaged socially and educationally
So if you see a black person in a high powered job are they there because they are black or because they earned it?

That's the rhetoric coming out of america true or not that's what some people believe

Surely to god people don't still think the death of George Floyd was a murder? That poor police officer was one of the best, with a proven non racist track record always acting by the book. It would nice to see Trump give him a pardon.

For anyone who hasn't yet caught up, the documentary "The fall of Minneapolis" examines the stuff that really happened and interviews the people who were there.

Charlie Kirk’s misleading statement that George Floyd died from a drug overdose was fact checked and found to be false.

Charlie Kirk then posted ‘to be clear George Floyd’s death was a homicide.’ And went on to say that he regretted any confusion he may have caused.

Are you auditioning for Charlie Kirk’s job?

There were two autopsies performed on Floyd both confirmed homicide but somehow YOU know better than them?? 😂

Watch the documentary it seems to combine all the information that wasn't released to the public for whatever reason.

Not only that, it was filmed. It’s abundantly obvious he was murdered. I think someone’s trying to gaslight us.

The one that’s been widely criticised for very obviously editing the interviews of the witnesses and blatantly lying about police procedure?

yeah, totally reliable source of information 😐

Criticised by who for what particular editing. People who for a political reason may be trying to silence it. The evidence speaks for itself though. If there's any evidence you're claiming to be false then please do share.

Any video will be edited from a particular point of view. It’s not the objective truth. It can’t be, it has to take a (literal) point of view.
This is a discussion forum. How about you articulate your point of view instead of relying on what some call propaganda.

I have, I've pointed to a documentary that explains better than I can, but you're to afraid to watch it. As I said, what about it specifically would you say is propaganda?

It's the most objective truth and facts currently available, it's obvious there is much we didn't know and weren't told. Specifically the actual unedited takes, you know the ones on the news that brainwashed everybody and started black people rioting?

Alicealig · 25/09/2025 14:40

Clearly, then best not to critise something until you've seen it. Anyway I was discussing the video...

urbanbuddha · 25/09/2025 14:42

Explain how it equals murder if a police officer uses a restraint technique to the letter of the actual book in an appropriate situation, confirmed by his actual training instructor who was being interviewed?

The editing criticism was how they cut several people’s interviews down to short clips because the longer ones didn’t fit their narrative - which to be fair isn’t unexpected, I just remember it because the stuff I was seeing was more about how badly it was done 😂

The lies about police procedure were the ones in the same tack as his defence tried, that he was using a common police restraint method as trained, except it isn’t - the hold the documentary refers to isn’t what Derek Chauvin was doing, they refer to it as that repeatedly and interview other police officers and trainers about that hold … but he wasn’t doing that, it only looks superficially similar and the training manuals are very clear that the hold the film does refer to is a temporary one meant to be used until they can put a hobble on (which mind he discussed but did not do) and there’s sections on what to do to prevent respiratory distress, because it was a known risk (and again he didn’t follow that either) and what to do if it happened (which again he didn’t do). They didn’t show the training manuals though? If I remember rightly? Just the updated one after it was banned
