Great to have another female leader.
I wish her all the best.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 02/11/2024 11:16

She’s an excellent choice.

Lou7171 · 02/11/2024 11:17

Congratulations to Labour

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 02/11/2024 11:17

Now THAT I did not see coming. Shock

TooBigForMyBoots · 02/11/2024 11:17

Yeeoooo.Grin

Zonder · 02/11/2024 11:17

The last two were had to choose between but the fact that it came down to those two is crazy.

OhVilja · 02/11/2024 11:18

Why not? All the polls predicted it.

Marvellous choice - she’ll be great!

Biscuitsneeded · 02/11/2024 11:18

Well, at least now they remain utterly inelectable for the foreseeable future...

Rummly · 02/11/2024 11:18

The first black female leader of a mainstream political party. Quite a thing.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 02/11/2024 11:18

Indeed Rummly - historic in fact

You'd be surprised.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 02/11/2024 11:20

I think they have just made themselves considerably more electable by selecting Kemi.

She won't thank you for mentioning her race...

I think they have just made themselves considerably more electable by selecting Kemi.

Why?

Babadookinthewardrobe · 02/11/2024 11:21

Because I think she’ll make a much better leader than Rishi.

the80sweregreat · 02/11/2024 11:22

The chairman mentioned her race when he announced her as the new leader.
I imagine she must be happy to be described as such.

Screamingabdabz · 02/11/2024 11:22

Wow. Historic moment whatever your politics. Well done her and I hope the Tory party support her. The country needs a strong opposition.

ImNunTheWiser · 02/11/2024 11:23

I hope she can be strong in holding the Labour Government to account. My initial feeling is she was the best candidate in that regard. It is extremely important, for everyone, left and right, that that happens. I never felt the Labour Party in opposition did that job well.

Rummly · 02/11/2024 11:23

skippy67 · 02/11/2024 11:20

Oh FGS. 🙄

Based on what exactly?

She’s an excellent choice

She’s the least bad choice, politically. For other reasons though, pleased for her personally.

daisychain01 · 02/11/2024 11:24

There was loud applause, whooping and cheering from Kemi Badenoch's supporters as she was announced as the new Tory leader

they'll be sharpening their knives to stab her in the back just as they do with every other leader eventually. Whoops today, plotting and scheming tomorrow.

Suo · 02/11/2024 11:24

She is intelligent, analytical, tenacious and unafraid. She is not always very politically astute. She has the potential to be incredibly good.

cheezncrackers · 02/11/2024 11:24

Well I like her. She's a strong, eloquent woman who has a record of standing up for women.
