Ok, I’m obviously not making myself clear here as people are completely misunderstanding what I am saying.

I’ll have one more go, then I’ll give up

In a previous conversation with another poster, someone said you couldn’t describe a party which has elected a black woman as extreme right.

I responded by observing that the extreme right often say ‘ we can’t be racist, we have black members’ When in fact, the extreme right has a history of racist views.

Staggeringly, for mentioning this, I’ve been told I sound racist! Which I have to say, as a lifelong, very active anti racism campaigner, really hurts. But maybe I wasn’t clear?! Oh well.

You are suggesting that she won because there is a co-ordinated campaign to elect a black leader to avoid accusations of being racist? Was there a whatsapp group for the 60’000 people odd people who voted for her, how did they co-ordinate this?

Yes I think racist parties can have members from ethnic minorities. I really bloody doubt they would be voting for one as leader. Most of the comments I’ve seen approving of her are about how she reminds them a bit of thatcher. She is speaking to their values. The actual racists would never vote for her.

Dymaxion · 02/11/2024 21:15

Good luck to her, reckon she will age about 20 years in the next four trying to keep the Conservatives united !

Clafoutie · 02/11/2024 21:16

Savingthehedgehogs · 02/11/2024 20:59

No.

You are basically saying Kemi is so thick and stupid she can’t see that a bunch of racists are using her as a cover to undertake ‘extreme’ far right agendas?? And you can’t see that this racist.

This is very bad. I suspect your faux innocence is rather misplaced.

The conservatives are not, and never ever will be extreme far right fgs, do you even understand what that is?

No.

Please go back and read the conversation I was referring to.

It is unbelievable the extent to which a post can be misunderstood. We’re on the same side regarding racism fgs!

I’m disheartened you believe me to be faux innocent. Honestly, you have completely misunderstood what I was saying.

I guess this happens online talking to strangers. But in view of my past and my experiences I’m finding your comments really hurtful, so l’m out.

Lonelycrab · 02/11/2024 21:18

trying to keep the Conservatives united !

<hollow laugh>

Thats just the trick, isn’t it. Just ask call me Dave. He knows alll about that

Never. She was addressing the benches opposite.

Exactly. If people are going to level criticism it should at least be accurate.

Understairscupboard · 02/11/2024 21:11

I was replying to your point "And if they had said they were drastically curtailing immigration people would have called them racists."

I didn't mention them being far right.

Sorry I’m just a bit confused, yeah they lied about controlling immigration. The conversation I was having was about whether their immigration policy indicated that they were far right or not so I’m not sure what your intervention was about.

It has been corrected - do you condone the use of such language?

Papyrophile · 02/11/2024 21:23

Kemi looks to me like KS's biggest frightmare. She arrived at 16, from Nigeria, worked shifts in fast food restaurants, and has used her talent and abilties, plus charm to be chosen as leader of the (mainly very stuffy) TORY party. My hat is doffed to her, and I think she is on course to lead the Conservative Party for 15 or 20 years.

rainingsnoring · 02/11/2024 17:53

You still haven't been able to explain what she stands for, except that she is anti immigration. They all are, apparently!

I shared an article she wrote about why women need single sex spaces upthread. Others have shared a selection of her votes in parliament. There are a number of interviews with Badenoch on YouTube. She has held a number of ministerial posts and has spoken in parliament on many occasions. She's not really keeping it all a big secret.

The poster who said Rayner called voters scum has not corrected it.

Surely the Tories on the benches vote as well?

Good idea, before you are banned. We are most definitely not on the same side. I can’t see how your comments can be anything other than deeply offensive.

Great win for labour !

I agree, the anguish and anger on here is testament to the threat she represents. It’s because she is going to be very very difficult to beat.

Same. I think Labour pp wanted someone like Cleverly or Tugendhat who would be insipid and not do much

The reaction is better than I expected

Certain posters are ‘prolific’, and are initimately familiar with the MN rules.

They are also quick to report others.

Savingthehedgehogs · 02/11/2024 21:33

This is a great moment for the conservative party, so much so that even Labour voters have acknowledged how special this moment is not just for Kemi but our whole country.

15 or 20 years of Badenoch as leader of the Conservatives?! 😂

I bet Keir Starmer will be pissing himself laughing if THAT happens. Because that will keep Labour in power until the 2040s. She won't last though.
