Now then, you know this is normal practice across all parties AND entirely unrelated to your dreadful comment.

I maintain Rayner is a union-patsy and over-promoted.

Also, she made the ‘scum’ remark, not me.

Park24 · 02/11/2024 20:56

I think she's fantastic. She stands up for women's rights and it's fabulous to see a black politician not using their race as some victim mentality mechanism - she gets on with the job and sticks to her principles and values without all the race baiting done by left black politicians like Lammy and Abbot.

I hope they learn a thing or two from her. I'll be voting for her.

Papyrophile · 02/11/2024 20:57

I rather like Kemi Badenoch. I like the way she looks, she is ultra controlled and controlling (and that's fine by me). I take her academic credentials seriously. With IT engineering and legal degrees under her belt, she's clearly no intellectual lightweight. My preferred pick was Tom Tugendhat in the open stages, but the Parliamentary party said no.

Someone, several pages back, said that they thought Reeves was planning a spring onslought on welfare benefits and immigration rules. I shall watch that develop with interest. When the authorities manage to decide which of two bedraggled boaties is the qualified neurosurgeon and which the would be drug dealer, are you willing to submit yourself for the lobotomy?

The left wing racism on here has been utterly despicable. I am amazed the thread has stayed up.

Actually it has simply reinforced my view that the left is way more racist than the right.

The left sees through a prism of skin colour, the left wants people of colour to see themselves as oppressed victims where the left can be the "white saviours" so long as you vote for them, the left destroys ambition, resilience and hope amongst people of colour.

Clafoutie · 02/11/2024 20:55

Ok, I’m obviously not making myself clear here as people are completely misunderstanding what I am saying.

I’ll have one more go, then I’ll give up

In a previous conversation with another poster, someone said you couldn’t describe a party which has elected a black woman as extreme right.

I responded by observing that the extreme right often say ‘ we can’t be racist, we have black members’ When in fact, the extreme right has a history of racist views.

Staggeringly, for mentioning this, I’ve been told I sound racist! Which I have to say, as a lifelong, very active anti racism campaigner, really hurts. But maybe I wasn’t clear?! Oh well.

No.

You are basically saying Kemi is so thick and stupid she can’t see that a bunch of racists are using her as a cover to undertake ‘extreme’ far right agendas?? And you can’t see that this racist.

This is very bad. I suspect your faux innocence is rather misplaced.

The conservatives are not, and never ever will be extreme far right fgs, do you even understand what that is?

They want immigration in order to keep wages low. That's why immigration went up under the Tories.

And if they had said they were drastically curtailing immigration people would have called them racists.

So true.

Labour will ‘allow’ victims only, but not autonomy, strength and real power.

Which is why they have never elected a person of colour of either sex as leader of the Labour Party,

But they didn't.

I would say that's part of why they got voted out

I don't think Labour have an approach that will work with smash the gangs though

And Kemi can formulate new policy, I like that she says she looks at systems. Imo the asylum system is not working as is, it rewards profit, risk and deaths

Savingthehedgehogs · 02/11/2024 21:06

Well I am not letting any grubby racist take away my joy today, I am genuinely thrilled we have Kemi. She will revitalise politics and she represents a new start. A new chapter. I think she will do an outstanding job, she has all the qualities required to be a brilliant PM.

So take your jealous misery elsewhere,

@User37482

"Whats extraordinary is how much this has brought out the racists on the left and the right. There are people on twitter that they’ll never vote for a nigerian, here it’s a “she’s a token” and dawn butler has called her a white supremicist in blackface. Jesus fucking christ the racism spillith over. People aren’t even trying to hide it."

The reaction is genuinely shocking, I was genuinely pleased that she was chosen as I think she was the best candidate based on her character and actions and where her skin colour was completely irrelevant.

Sadly on this thread and particularly from the left the racism is blatant.

Yeah I don’t think about her race at all, I spend very little time thinking about mine either or other peoples. i’m often surprised by how much time people do spend on thinking about my race on my behalf.

I really dislike this undermining of her achievement on the basis of her race. You don’t have to like her or her policies but to act like she didn’t win in a fair competition on her own merit is deeply distasteful.

Papyrophile · 02/11/2024 21:09

Curtailing immigration is important. The UK is not large, only developed and relatively wealthy which makes it a magnet. We need to enough land fenced off to grow potatoes. There needs to be some wild space. Just because Jakarta covers 2 million hectares (made up figure) is no reason to think that Indonesian population density levels are sustainable here.

User37482 · 02/11/2024 21:09

Understairscupboard · 02/11/2024 21:02

Yes but the point the pp made is that they are far right because they oversaw massive immigration to make labour cheaper. I pointed out that is they had massively restricted immigration they would have been accused of doing so because they are far right racists!

Which one is it!? Where is the evidence for them being far right?

Very well said. One day her race really won’t matter as it will be common place, but for now why can’t we celebrate her achievement? I was in awe watching her speak - so deeply competent and articulate.

I wish I could agree with you. But I honestly doubt Rayner can come with anything even remotely clever.

She thinks calling voters scum is a good retort.

A Labour MP shared a social media post accusing Kemi Badenoch of representing “white supremacy in blackface” shortly before Mrs Badenoch was elected as the new Tory leader.

Dawn Butler appeared to endorse comments that also referred to Mrs Badenoch’s election as a “victory for racism”. The Brent East MP has since undone the repost and it is no longer on her profile on X, formerly Twitter.
