I'm not OK with wars.

Without the USA, Israel would be attacked on all sides & then you really would have war.

I'm not OK with wars.

Sure it’s not a good outcome but leaving Israel to attack without support is also a huge issue

You can envisage the next steps I’m sure

But this morning as I have linked above there has been blasts beside the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen.. This is how things spread.. What have the Danes done exactly for this to be carried out?

It's almost as it terrorists are bad isn't it. This isn't just about targeted attacks on people directly linked, they have a very clear agenda.

Whitenoise1 · 02/10/2024 09:33

@Salmoney Denmark of all places. Denmark as far as I'm aware are very neutral?

But Biden is actually demented though? Literally. He is completely senile and has been for years. You can't possibly be questioning that? Whoever has been governing the US the last few years I dont know exactly, a group of high ranking gov and military officials I suppose, but its certainly not Joe Biden. The man hardly knows his own name.

But Trump is actually demented as well. His incoherent spiteful rants are lapped up by his supporters who are as crazy as he is. He wants to be President to keep out of jail and to settle scores with his enemies. He is a danger to women and minorities.

WickedWineWitch · 02/10/2024 09:38

Yes we will likely see more terrorist attacks on UK soil, partly ideology and partly funded by players like Russia as a method of warfare. It's all horribly depressing. I don't know if we can have a World War in the same way as before now that nuclear weapons exist but perhaps cyber attacks etc would co-exist with what would have to be limited conventional war (if such a thing can even happen between major powers.) what an absolute bloody mess. I can't worry about climate change when old men are threatening to blow us all up anyway

I have no idea I am not a politician.

🙄what a strange reply. By that token, why start a thread on the topic. Hypocritical.

WickedWineWitch · 02/10/2024 09:39

If Trump gets in we might find that we have yet another dictatorship to add to the current axis of upheaval. And who would ever have thought it might be the US

Wallaw · 02/10/2024 09:40

Whitenoise1 · 02/10/2024 09:18

All these western countries are banging on about climate change but surely these wars are absolutely disastrous for our planet..

Both things are bad. I'm simply pointing out that if you're worried about the safety and stability of the world, assuming you live in a western democracy, climate change is likely to be a greater threat to that safety and stability - certainly that of our children - than WWIII.

A thread with many opinions from the op

Yes, cyberwarfare and the utilisation of mis and dis-information is a very worrying threat.

He never got quite to dictator level during his last term. Who knows not beyond the realms of possibility..

Who were the US and Soviet Union colonies of in the Second World War? Or Japan?

The Soviet Union had a mass of satellite countries it controlled with a fist of iron. That´s why it threw a fit when Ukraine was moving towards the West. It´s what they call their area of influence...
Japan invaded quite a few countries around it, like Korea and Eastern China to have precisely that. And really, the U.S. has it´s backdoor also, and in decades past it put and took out governments in those countries as often as they wanted. It was a more "modern" colonialism. You don´t really need to invade countries nowadays, you control their economies through other ways and reap the benefits.

Personally I got my kids learning Mandarin and Arabic 8 years ago. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em and we all need to look after our own.

Of course you have 😂Great strategy, very forward thinking 👌

I'd rather teach my kids to resist oppressive toxic regimes and people and chose beat 'em.

Not necessarily. Look at the explosions in Copenhagen this morning. Noone knows where there could be carried out.
Copenhagen seems a very unlikely place but it happened & thankfully there was no injuries.

They´re not attacking Denmark, their attacking targets IN Denmark, could be any other country if there are active terrorists with a clear target. Could be Spain, Finland, Argentina, who cares? Certainly the terrorists don´t. You cant buy security by keeping a low profile any more, as this proves.

There are, unfortunately, terrorists everywhere. In the US, and increasingly the UK, homegrown far right domestic terrorism is becoming a problem.

Oh, please.

For goodness sake, what do you mean by that? Have you seen any footage of Biden at all the last few years? It's elder abuse that they let him continue for so long.

Whereas we couldn't possibly ever be at risk from Jihadists living in the UK. Oh no, not ever.

No it'll be the old codger down the road who reads the Daily Mail 🙄

I saw the debate and definitely saw signs of cognitive decline or something very wrong. I'm a US voter. He wasn't my first choice for the nomination in 2020 but I think that while I don't agree with all his policies, he has for the most part been a very good president. I was in favour of him stepping aside as I didn't think his health was acceptable for a second term.

However, I have also read a lot of carefully sourced reporting, watched news conferences and listened to interviews and speeches over the last four years. I have listened to him speak in detail on many subjects, including extremely nuanced issues of foreign policy with incredible command of detail and understanding. I've been listening to Joe Biden in some form or other for probably 30 years, he's always been a stumbler and rambler and prone to gaffes.

What I have not done is confine my knowledge of him and his presidency to social media reels.

Of course they present a risk and have for many years. I'm simply pointing out that risk of that type comes from many sources.
