Are there any other people who think we have been fed the biggest lie in regards to sovereignity of Britain.I think the current gas chrisis shows, how dependant Britain is on China and Russia and Europe.

Dont ask. I'm in Scotland, we didn't vote for this shite.

rrhuth · 07/10/2021 16:56

I'm particularly enjoying the burning of culled British pigs and the importing of cheap European pork to fill the gap.

A heartfelt thank you to the Vote Leave liars, their supporters and to all Brexit voters.

Zeropointzero · 07/10/2021 17:06

@ssd.Have you got a spare room Grin

Grin
Babdoc · 07/10/2021 17:11

Sorry to burst ssd’s virtuous bubble, but even a third of SNP supporters voted for Brexit! Scotland does not have a “block vote”, we all vote individually.

StillWeRise · 07/10/2021 17:11

and someone will be along very shortly to tell us to get over it and that the people have spoken....in 5...4....3....

ssd · 07/10/2021 17:19

Well I've never been called virtuous before Grin

Porfre · 07/10/2021 17:20

A big ball of shite

AlexaShutUp · 07/10/2021 17:21

I'm in England and I didn't vote for this shite either. It's a pile of crap, as we knew it would be.

LarryTheLurker · 07/10/2021 17:33

I see you have absolutely no idea what sovereignty means. Our dependence on imported gas is a direct and sole consequence of our government's ludicrous refusal to allow the fracking of the tens (or even hundreds) of billions of pounds worth of shale gas under our feet, and their closure of the Rough gas storage facility in 2017.

The gas supply situation is nothing to do with Brexit and would be exactly the same if we were still ruled from Brussels by unelected foreigners.

As for your abuse of Leave voters, grow up or emigrate.

branchlight · 07/10/2021 17:37

And the fact that employers seem to be talking of needing to raise wages to get staff does make it look like immigration was deflating wages. Its actually quite a good thing if wages rise in certain low-paid sectors.
Should help to address the in-work poverty problem we have in this country.
( I voted remain btw, have no skin in this game!)

ssd · 07/10/2021 18:01

Grow up or emigrate

Now there's a sensible answer Grin

Zeropointzero · 07/10/2021 18:22

...and here they are,our little brexiteer englanders.i do hope, scotland will vote for independence and rejoin the EU.I will then swiftly move to scotland and leave the little englanders.

The raising of wages sounds, superficially to those who do not understand economics, to be a positive thing.

But every economist on both left and right has explained, at length, why it will not make people better off.

If you have to pay staff more to make goods, or transport goods, or work in shops selling goods - what happens to the price of the goods? They go up. Therefore everyone ends up poorer - as in able to buy less - in real terms.

It doesn't matter what the number of pounds you receive, it matters what you can buy for those pounds.

We are heading for inflation, not a wealthier population. In work poverty is going to get worse.

Try not to believe the bullshit this government is telling you.

This a million times over. I'm rubbish at economics but this is just so blindingly obvious. I just don't understand why people thought they'd be better off.

Well we've properly taken back control haven't we ....

TooBigForMyBoots · 07/10/2021 18:56

I haven't got any sovereignty that I know of.Confused Do you get it automatically or do you have to apply for it?

rrhuth · 07/10/2021 19:01

You buy it by making six figure donations to the Tory party I believe Angry

Not quite as easy now since FOM has ended.

rrhuth · 07/10/2021 19:03

This video clip from last night's Newsnight covering immigration, productivity, investment and wages is very good: twitter.com/BBCNewsnight/status/1445869220751937538

In the Brexit debate remainers failed to communicate the economic realities of leaving the EU. Sadly we are now going to have to live through them, and we will all be poorer.

FreshFreesias · 07/10/2021 19:18

@Zeropointzero I don’t understand why you want Scotland to rejoin the EU, thereby losing its independence and freedom to make decisions that benefit Scotland.
Mind you, Wee Jimmy is making such a hash of things, I guess the EU couldn’t do much worse.
Maybe it’s time that corporations started paying workers a decent wage, rather than exploiting foreign labour.
But it’s funny how snobbish Remoaners don’t like the terrible reality of paying their cleaners and other low paid workers more.
“Who will make my coffee in Pret”, etc, etc.

FreshFreesias · 07/10/2021 19:20

@rrhuth Not quite true. HGV drivers and other exploited workers wages are increasing.
Don’t you think working people deserve a fair wage?

jgw1 · 07/10/2021 19:22

But Jeremy Corbyn.
rrhuth · 07/10/2021 19:22

But it’s funny how snobbish Remoaners don’t like the terrible reality of paying their cleaners and other low paid workers more. This is bollocks. The point is the higher wages borne of staff shortages, will not benefit anyone due to inflationary pressures. Every pound will buy less.

It was leavers who voted for increased poverty. If you still can't understand the economics of Brexit, that is your problem.

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 07/10/2021 19:24

@Zeropointzero I don’t understand why you want Scotland to rejoin the EU, thereby losing its independence and freedom to make decisions that benefit Scotland.

The majority of us in Scotland didn't have a problem with being in the EU before, and we would still prefer to be in it than not.

Many of the EU 'decisions' did benefit Scotland, and as we can clearly see now, the decisions made by WM most certainly do not.

Independence from the UK ASAP, then back in the EU ASAP and we'll try to forget brexit ever happened.
