Even more Trump.

There may be 4 years of this.
Try to keep it lighthearted and not snide, please.
It's Christmas.

So Bertrand you have finally obliquely got the answer you were asking for. The thing you want to say but are being prevented from saying is to ask the question what it is you want to say but can't. Though I'm not sure whether that's due to political correctness.

It's a rum old world, but who cares as long as the elites are sobbing into their copies of the Guardian?

claig · 21/12/2016 10:08

'I'm sure it would be helpful to you if everyone were appreciative of trump and trump fans'

Not just me, it seems to be a sentiment shared by people all across the world.

"erudite and appreciative of Trump"

Oxymoron

Took me a few moments to work out how to do that. It was to OnTop :)

In other news. Pantsuit Nation in turmoil after book deal. Feminist Hillary 'teh shill' supporters are upset and feeling betrayed. Looks like the left can't resist hurting one another

Lweji · 21/12/2016 10:17

It would be helpful if it was intelligible, erudite and appreciative of Trump and Trump fans, but even it is anti Trump and patent Blairite baloney that is OK as long as it is not snide and personal.

Attacks and pisstakes of Blair are entirely fair game.

Notice how you have used a snide comment and somewhat personal in putting erudite with appreciative of Trump and baloney with anti-Trump?

And then you supposedly want to avoid snidey comments and personal attacks?

And that is a genuine question.

And this is supposed to elevate the level of debate?

Also genuine question.

claig · 21/12/2016 10:19

'And that is a genuine question.'

The answer is it was a joke. It was not a snide attack on any poster, but it was on Blair and that is well known as being fair game on a Trump thread

OP posts:
Lweji · 21/12/2016 10:20

What is the difference between this "joke" and a snide comment?

claig · 21/12/2016 10:22

'What is the difference between this "joke" and a snide comment?'

A world of difference and importantly it is not a snide comment about any poster

OP posts:
Lweji · 21/12/2016 10:22

Clearly the erudite and baloney was in relation to what posters write here. So, it's an attack and a snide comment about the posters, not about Trump or Blair.

Surely, if I had posted about only posting erudite comments regarding the left and Trump baloney, you'd have thought that was a snide comment about Trump fans. No?

In all seriousness, just to be clear.

You know, Kitten, the thing Bertrand is not allowed to say but she wants to say. She's been reprimanded for repeatedly asking what it is. So now we know it is, in an increasingly meta referential world, the very thing she was asking all along.

I must admit I'm scratching my head too.

We are entering a world of parallel definitions where discuss means praise and some snide personal remarks are more equal than others.

claig · 21/12/2016 10:25

'Surely, if I had posted about only posting erudite comments regarding the left and Trump baloney, you'd have thought that was a snide comment about Trump fans. No?'

No problem because it is not about any poster, no personal attack on anyone. Taking the piss out of Trump fans and Trump and anything he says is fine because although he is the best thing since sliced bread, he is not infallible

No, Blair's world is finished. Now we are in the Age of Trump

Ontopofthesunset · 21/12/2016 10:29

My point exactly claig. We are in the world of Trump where if aTrump fan or Trump says it it is true, fair game or a joke depending on the whim of the speaker but if a Trump opponent says it it is thin-skinned Whitney snidey wailing and personal.

claig · 21/12/2016 10:30

Ontopofthesunset, do you have meta referential evidence for that epistemological assertion?

OP posts:
Missswatch · 21/12/2016 10:32

I browse The Donald sub and inform people what is going on. These forums don't have to revolve around you

Lweji · 21/12/2016 10:33

I really wish you, claig, would decide if you want a banter style thread with shots fired and jokes all round at everyone's expense, or if you want a serious debate with intellectual honesty.

It doesn't work only one way. And if you want to use that type of expressions and jokes, don't be surprised if the posters on the opposite side of the debate also use jokes and demeaning expressions, which you always use in relation to people.
Blair certainly has his faults, but he's not a clown nor the devil, as Trump isn't. You don't often see "Trumpite baloney" constantly used as an expression on these threads, or similar.
People point out serious issues with his policies, with the way he's preparing his administration and with the way he's conducting himself. In general, we don't impart cheap shots at the right, the alt-right, or "people movement" or whatever.

You may notice that quite a few of what you consider snide comments is a replication of the style used here by Trump fans, but you seem to prefer to ignore it and get upset when it's used in relation to you.

And if we ask questions it is because we want to really address the issues, not throw statements around, particularly if not supported by any evidence other than X said.

But, if you want banter style, then don't complain when you get it.

Lweji · 21/12/2016 10:34

Ontopofthesunset, do you have meta referential evidence for that epistemological assertion?

Yes, these threads. And Trump's campaign.

derxa · 21/12/2016 10:36

placemarking

Kaija · 21/12/2016 10:40

No personal attacks eh? Interesting.

If you repeatedly use, say, "Blairites" as a term of abuse, attacking Blairites in general, and then repeatedly call a particular poster a Blairite, that would have to be a personal attack, wouldn't it?

Missswatch · 21/12/2016 10:40
