Even more Trump.

There may be 4 years of this.
Try to keep it lighthearted and not snide, please.
It's Christmas.

'Trump can scrap the climate change plan, but it is only because he would rather feather the nests of the fossil fuel industry. '

It is not. Trump is a businessman, not a "career politician", he wants business and prosperity, not to shut down coal fired planst that Ed Sillyband, the geek from Oxbridge wants.

Trump is Presient of the united States, the era of the geeks is over, now we are in for business and growth and no more wars

'Perhaps you'd care to explain the most obscure meanings.'

Yes, there are riddles upon riddles, but I try to remain humorous and not hostile and demanding of other posters or accuse them of writing "meaningless" posts

I am going to take a break because I have other things to do. See you later and keep it real and lighthearted

"not financial market stuff "

Who do you think the financial markets make money from? How do you think firms raise capital for investment? If American firms do well people will want to buy their stock on the markets, they will have to do deals on currency for buying materials, there will be fortunes to be made.

You really don't understand this.

The "plan" to deindustrialise the worl is just gibberish. Carbon taxes are not part of some conspiracy, neither is global warming. You constant references to Orwell are disturbing because it shows you don't understand what is happening or what the books were about.

Trump is more Orwellian than anything else, he is paradoxical as are his words to his actions

Inkanta · 03/01/2017 17:48

'Perhaps you'd care to explain the most obscure meanings.'

No. Obscure I don't have a problem with.

claig · 03/01/2017 17:51

'"not financial market stuff "'

casino capitalism that Vince Whatisname from the LibDems talked about, Soros and the billion he made from the UK with the ERM thing etc etc

'You really don't understand this.'

You're right, I don't understand it. Maybe you can explain it all to us and I will read it when I come back and learn what it is about

So why do you have a problem with me?

I've merely questioned Claig's arguments, and done so well I think.

BertrandRussell · 03/01/2017 17:57

"Claig's delivery is different and easier to read because she doesn't get angry or earnest."

Might it just be that you agree with Claig so you don't actually have to think about what she says- you can just skim read it?

What's wrong with earnest, anyway? This is very important stuff. It's not a "laugh" or a game. It's our future.

Inkanta · 03/01/2017 17:59

Darth - you seem to want to want to keep talking about this. It's not the content - it's the attitude and intensity. Craig's taking a break. Why don't you all take a break and then come back refreshed.

DarthPlagueis · 03/01/2017 18:00

Um, what makes me earnest?

Why is my stuff difficult to read?

Sandrina99 · 03/01/2017 18:02

Being multi-millionaire makes you elite in terms of disposable cash and assets but does not preclude Trump from wanting to save his country from the abyss. He is not of the political class, the political elite hate Trump and Farage because their comfortable scratch my back and I'll scratch yours insider games will now be interfered with by Trump. They will have to find other ways to make extra income.

Being a rich person does not preclude you from wanting to improve the standing of America and Americans. There are many fifth columnists there, ditto in UK, and I recognise the smell of them on MN too.

Inkanta · 03/01/2017 18:02

'Might it just be that you agree with Claig so you don't actually have to think about what she says- you can just skim read it?'

I do like a lot of what Claig says that's true. She is always strives to be polite and respectful though and I admire her for that.

Just heard about this, it was on Fox last night, but I haven't watched Fox for ages. Assange on the Sean Hannity Show

"Julian Assange Says He’s 1,000% Sure Russia Didn’t Hack the DNC’s Emails
...
Asked whether he could tell the American people “1,000 percent” that the emails did not come from Russia, Assange confirmed his stance.

“We can say, we have said, repeatedly over the last two months that our source is not the Russian government and it is not a state party,” he said.

...

During the interview, Assange added that he believes the Obama administration is trying to undermine Donald Trump’s presidency.

“They’re trying to delegitimize the Trump administration as it goes into the White House,” he said. “They are trying to say that President-elect Trump is not a legitimate President.”

A business brain is very much needed to be in government. They work differently, find solutions far quicker and are keen to get things sorted out amicably without either side losing face. That is the kernel of any agreement ........ all players to come away satisfied that they found agreement within acceptable parameters and no one left with tail between their legs. That's business. You go in knowing what your 'bottom' line is, you negotiate as high as you can but never fall below the bottom line. OK, you were not successful in getting the best $, but then again you didn't have to go below your bottom line either. In business that is a WIN.

DarthPlagueis · 03/01/2017 18:11

." He is not of the political class, the political elite hate Trump and Farage because their comfortable scratch my back and I'll scratch yours insider games will now be interfered with by Trump."

Sorry but that's just not true.

Trump is political class, he's one of the ultimate of the political class. A donor who has given money to anyone who will further his ends, someone who makes deals with cities and their governance, who uses the laws of property, tax and finance to get around things. He has just appointed people to the cabinet who have been donating to his foundation for years. Who has met with many Presidents whilst they were in office. Who has a key position in the media which makes it easy to get his voice heard. Trump covers all of the establishment bases.

Farrage is political establishment too, an MEP who has been backed by millionaires, supported by the right wing press which is owned by no dom tax avoiding bilionaires, partying at the ritz with MPs, Lords, etc.

I'm sorry that its inconvenient for you, but its just not true.

lljkk · 03/01/2017 18:11

Trump's alter ego.

DarthPlagueis · 03/01/2017 18:12

Inkanta, Claig is certainly not polite, all the brainwashed stuff?

I think there is bias at work here.

But its funny that you don't think Trump and Farage are elites.

BertrandRussell · 03/01/2017 18:31

"She is always strives to be polite and respectful though"

Wow. Cognitive dissonance defined!

Sandrina99 · 03/01/2017 18:33

It is in the interests of the political elite, in tandem with Soros et al, to have USA decline in terms of quality of life, income, overcrowding, and high immigration levels from countries whose cultures are opposed to Western life.

Just like UK, the American-born person is struggling as they watch migrants arrive and be given housing and full welfare. To denigrate your own but support incoming sounds crazy, does it not? It's suicide, surely? More like homicide, and it is being orchestrated deliberately.

Did you know that our foreign aid is dispersed to Pakistanis by plastic ATM card? How very modern, take a look.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4082734/Queue-UK-s-1bn-foreign-aid-cashpoint-Just-thought-couldn-t-worse-cash-doled-envelopes-ATM-cards-loaded-money.html

Ontopofthesunset · 03/01/2017 18:36

Sorry, Sandrina, could you explain why it's in the interests of the political elite to have the USA decline in terms of living standards? I didn't quite get it from your post. Not sure what it's got to do with that Daily Mail article either. Is Trump going to stop Pakistanis being paid Forrin Aid with ATM cards? This stuff is so confusing.

DarthPlagueis · 03/01/2017 18:40

"Just like UK, the American-born person is struggling as they watch migrants arrive and be given housing and full welfare. To denigrate your own but support incoming sounds crazy, does it not? It's suicide, surely? More like homicide, and it is being orchestrated deliberately."

Yeah see thats rubbish.

fullfact.org/immigration/migration-and-welfare-benefits/

The American data is pretty similar.

Actually falling living standards are the fault of neo liberal policies which people like Trump and the backers of Brexit fully embrace.

The Mail's hyperbolic trash on International aid is even worse. You're objecting to families getting £34.50 every 3 months? Your realise its £1 bn over 5 years?

Sandrina99 · 03/01/2017 18:47

The Pakistan ATM link is not connected to what I was posting, except maybe to show the erosion of the UK's priorities. I remember a number of political journalists on TV explaining that foreign aid is typically paid as a bribe to allow (in this case) UK to trade with Pakistan. It has fuck all to do with humanitarianism. Pakistan has chosen to distribute some of this bribe to the poorest, and use its own wealth on their nuclear programme and space R&D.

DarthPlagueis · 03/01/2017 18:51

So you object to it being used for humanitarian reasons?

You think international aid is going to stop?

What's the point of linking to it?

BTW £250 million quid a year for this program is well worth it IMO.

Sandrina99 · 03/01/2017 18:54

Trump and supporters of Brexit are not neo-liberals. Both are highly critical of the ideas of globalisation. I thought you understood that. It is the globalist elites who are foaming at the mouth at Trump's election and UK's Brexit decision. Someone used the term regressive liberal - and that is exactly what Trump is opposed to.

DarthPlagueis · 03/01/2017 18:58

JRM, Liam Fox, Boris Johnson and Gove et al are all great supporters of globalisation. All would have signed TTIP. Banks et al all support globalisation too. What do you think the "free trade" deals are about that we are supposed to benefit from?

Trump benefits from globalisation by being able to move his capital around the globe freely without limits, to make whatever deals he likes. His supporters have benefited from it too.

Its one of the reasons that you who supported both have all been duped, you've been told you will be protected when actually they going to give you more free trade.

Or to give it its other term. Globalisation.
