Salbysea · 28/04/2010 23:05

HEEEEELP!!!!!

just hung out a nappy load - cushie tushie is "crunchy" and fuzzy bunz: PUL separating/bubbling

fleece coolababy bit the dust a while ago - PUL separated completely and stuck to itself. thought it was a one off but now it looks like I'm hurting my lovely nappies

I only ever wash at 40 and never tumble dry

I do use onelife PURE nappy cleanser in some washes - is that it? if so, is there a better sanitizer or will they all do this? (tea tree irritates LO)

I deliberately avoided nappysan and thought PURE would be safe

mumface · 28/04/2010 23:11

I'm not too bad now thanks, babydrip.
Salbysea- oh dear sounds like it may be the sanitiser, not sure what's in that one. The only nappies that ever died on me were faulty ones (Itti and a cushie Tushie that seam came undone after a few uses)
I do have 'crunchy' issues with some Itti's though.

Salbysea · 28/04/2010 23:18

argh! and I just bought a new carton of it!

can anyone recommend a good sanitizer that they've been using for ages without probs?

I don't use it every time but thought it was a lesser evil than the odd 60 degree wash? esp with nappies like ittis and coolababys

babydrip · 28/04/2010 23:19

aww bless you mumface ((((hugs))))
eek sounds like a disaster!...i soak mine to!....oh btw does any of you know if you can tumbledry the fuzzibunz and the itti bitti?
dont worry if i dont reply...it means ive fell asleep! lol
love and hugs

Babybots · 29/04/2010 07:39

Nooooooooo dont soak pul lined pockets you'll wreck them! The sanitiser will eat away at them causing no end of trouble!

I add bio d to my wash but dont soak them in it. Hope that helps!

I wouldnt tumble the fuzzi or itti outers but you can do the inserts if you wish. Heats not good for the pul either - but the outers are very quick to dry anyway so shouldnt need tumble drying really.

hi all
due date today and nothing happening...
got a unrelated query, just opened a thread asking for advice on having cats and kids, any suggestions, comments,... will be greatly appreciated, thanks www.mumsnet.com/Talk/behaviour_development/955071-baby-and-cat-how-do-they-mix
i can't wait to start using my new nappies, have been practising with them, even dh says how easy it is, why people don't use them?

treedelivery · 29/04/2010 10:03

Our cat and babies mixed fine alle01/ The cat would have nothing to do wth them ans they were too noisey

The cat will now condecend to sleep on dd1's bed [age 5] but only just!

Have crinkly itti issues too, I think the 50 degrees and radiator drying have hurt them. Am resolved to be nicer to them.

Y'now how they say reuse the itti outer and also fleece, and that they don't need washing each time? Well mine pong!! Her fleece in paarticular is toxic in the am. Is this hte same for everyone?

Apologies for typos, my keyboard has had it.

mumface · 29/04/2010 11:08

Alle- Also got cats here, they just stay out the way of Connor they are scared of him and are only just letting lewis have a fuss. I did find them in the pram a couple of times before he was born but never after.

Tree- Have never used fleece again without washing, really retains whiffs. Never had an Itti outer fresh enough to reuse.

Have got some new seconds Tots bamboo easyfit on the way, they were so cheap and looked handy so I couldn't resist. Hope I like them now. Have tried a Tots pocket before and was fine with a good insert. (supposed to be saving for Dancing on ice on Sunday!!oops)

thank you all for cat tips, dad getting us concerned, so dh wanted to start looking for nets and stuff to keep them apart (baby and cat), but i don't think we'll bother, unless there's a huge problem, and we would be the only ones for what i read

Salbysea · 29/04/2010 12:02

but they really build up a nasty smell if I don't do an odd wash with sanitizer in it. No amount of rinse cycles does the trick

bagpuss · 29/04/2010 12:55

Hello all, long time no post! What have I missed? Sal, I never use sanitiser in my washes - just a tablespoonful of non-bio. Seems to do the trick with a 60 degree wash. Have just had a fluffy delivery of Bambootys and Itti SIO from C&C . Am in love with them but the bambootys are so tiny and cute and the Ittis (yes I know I said no more ) are so squishy and bright (purple and yellow btw).

Tree I can never re-use fleece either. Mumface, easyfits are nice on the whole - have never had a leak with ours.

Happy RNW to everyone and hope you are all well .

octothechildherder · 29/04/2010 15:02

Hello everyone! Nice to see folk

I used pure for years on my fuzzis with no problems - cant say for CTs though.

No nappy news here - the air closure slowing everything coming in down still for me booooooo!

treedelivery · 29/04/2010 19:44

Good to hear it's not my dd2 who has specalist stinky wee!

My magc-alls are leaking!!! I think it's a booster issure, or maybe the pul is giving. It's all over dampness.

What do you think?

I'm on the lookout for some great boosters, who uses some they would suggest? I have lots of microfibre, I think bamboo is what I need. I've been using the inserts from Ittis in all sorts of pockets, but I think I need to up the absorbancy a bit more on the whole.

treedelivery · 29/04/2010 19:48

Or is it the Bold!?!?!?!?!?

Better not be I just bought 10kg of it!! Maybe they need a break from it.

Nice to hear the nappy news, big hello to Bagpuss. Which bambooty you got?

Salbysea · 29/04/2010 20:12

treedelivery, I use what you're using already - coolababy microfibre inserts or ittis in pockets.
anything else I have is very bulky so I only use at night

babydrip · 29/04/2010 20:31

hi all my itti bitti delish and coolababy arrived today! both lush! even though i madew a misstake on the colour of the coolababy but its ok as babybots is very kindly going to change it!..cant wait to put babe in them (coolababy will have to wait until i get replacement) the itti bitti is sooooooo soft! cant wait to put babe in it and just gona have to show it off! lol!

treedelivery · 29/04/2010 20:35

Yay to new fluff babydrip - how exciting!!! What colours have you gone for?

Hi Sal. It's my magic-alls that are bothering me. I love them! They must work. I use the insert they come with but they need more now. Good thing is they are a fair sze nappy anyway, so could get more in there.

I saw some bargain bamboo inserts somewhere, where though...... They were 50p but the postage was £4.25 and what if they are rubbish!?!?! didn't recognise them so they could be waaaay off.

Salbysea · 29/04/2010 20:39

babydrip YEAY for new ittis

DH and I agreed this evening when getting DS ready for a bath that his brown "bear bum" itti is the cutest thing on earth!

make sure you pre-wash it, bamboo takes a few washes to become fully absorbent

treedelivery · 29/04/2010 20:40

Oh the brown one

DD2 in a cream cashmere cardi and her brown itti was one of the warmest softest shnuggly things I have ever held. Yum.

Salbysea · 29/04/2010 20:43

his itti was under his cashmere longies, and he's gone to bed in pumpkin pants - TRIPLE SNUGGLYNESS!!

babydrip · 29/04/2010 20:45

hehe thankyou pink!!! it is sooooo cute! oh i did wonder about washing it first! oops! will do thankyou... she probably wont be wearing that one until Thurs next wk! lol...as i want to be with her when she's got it on! how odd am i!!...i start my 'rolling rota' of shifts tomorrow, so nursery Fri, (mon bank hol) Tues and Weds and they dont allow reusables...dh will be doing main care over the weekend and i want to be the first to use it! haha!
