4 sorry - shouldhave checked before I posted the pop-in arrived today thanks!

Wool users - do you find your LO is a bit... whiffy after a few hours in wool? I am loving DS in his longies, and after their first decent length stretch (4 hours, I'm not brave) DS is nice and dry, but there's a distinct aroma of wee around him. I'm thinking it would make his sheets etc smell after a few nights, and that can't be nice for him. Or will the situation improve after a couple more lanolisings? I've only done them twice so far.

Gah, keep forgetting to order new itti (and keep that talk of bleaching ittis down please, it's making me nervous!)

Can't believe I didn't think of puttin tights on DS! that would solve so many sock/sling problems.

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/03/2009 13:54

hopefully - does the wool smell after being used? Do you let it air out when you are not using it? How often do you wash? I haven't started using my wool yet - I am hopefully going to start tomorrow but have read a fair bit of info about it all.

I have just bought 10 preloved easy peasy bamboo inserts. Was £15 so not THAT much cheaper than buying new but at least I will be able to use the straight away, instead of having to keep prewashing loads of times! Then I can just stick the brand new ones in the wash when I do the normal washing and maybe use them in the daytime under MF after a couple of washes and not at night till full absorbancy is reached.

I am hoping I can try them out in my WNNN.

Hopefully · 17/03/2009 16:28

Soon2be the wool doesn't actually really smell, and doesn't at all after a quick airing. I've only used it twice, with a wash and lanolise in between, so perhaps it still needs to settle into life a bit more!

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/03/2009 16:43

Oh ok I don't know then. I hope DD doesn't smell when in wool . You should be able to use it for a week or so without washing I think.

I am going to give DDs wool wrap a go in the morning over MEOS and hope it goes ok! Once it has been done in lanolin a few times I will use for night time. Or if I get the one from TLEs then I will be able to use that one at night IF it fits as it might be a bit small. One thing I don't get though - is how does the wool breath when they have clothes over the top?

rusmum · 17/03/2009 17:19

I NEED SOME GOOD WOOL PATTERNs- lomgie- shortie and skirtie????

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 17/03/2009 17:23

DS was always in tights underneath trousers (or just in tights when at home), either cream or navy, as they are just perfect and warm. in fact, DD's wearing DS's old tights now! short socks are a waste of time ime

Lollipop, which inserts did you say you use with BBs?

Hopefully, that smell only at the beginning, so it'll get better.

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/03/2009 17:34

rusmum - are you on CNT? they have a whole forum section about wool and they have lots of links to patterns there? I wouldn't have a clue myself but I know there are lots of experts on there!

I need to stop this buying nappy addiction! I am buying several things a day at this rate!! My postman even commented on the amount of pasels this morning . I need to save the rest of the money for sorting out our night time problems really - waiting to get the UDNN to try that out as if it is good I will order a few more.

And sometimes, I can't even remember what I bought . I know I was looking into Nature babies onesize pockets and enquired about a few and honestly can't remember if I ordered any in the end!! How awful is that! Pregnancy and over tiredness has a major part in that though. I know I could find out quite easily though by trawling through the messages.

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/03/2009 17:55

Is anybody else having trouble getting onto Cloth nappy tree? I need to respond to messages on there but it won't load? all other internet is working fine.

TheLadyEvenstar · 17/03/2009 18:56

4andnotout · 17/03/2009 19:35

Thenatty I have a tartan inner aplix, mint green inner 1 applix 1 popper,1 blue inner,1 green camo inner.

My size 1 flexitots came today and are diddy and cute, cant wait to try them tommorow. DD3 is wearing the bbh so will see how it copes overnight.

Dp has upset me so much i will have free range on buying nappies now, he certainly cant complain.

swampster · 17/03/2009 20:03

[ponders] Do I want a dalmation Blueberry for 12 quid posted?

4andnotout · 17/03/2009 20:06

I have dalmation and it is lovely I have plain dalmation and pink dalmation, i really want a zebra one.

swampster · 17/03/2009 20:13

That's my decision made then .

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/03/2009 20:26

4 - I still haven't said anything to DH about how much I have spent on nappies. If he says anything I tell him he can't say anything till he quits smoking. And I just go on about how disposables are so much more expensive etc etc

I am looking forward to seeing what the postman brings me tomorrow! Hoping my BBOS comes because I am more excited about that one - will be my first soft nappy!

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/03/2009 20:28

4 - it is a zebra one I have on the way! From CNT!

TheNatty · 17/03/2009 21:38

good evening ladies

today was my first outing without my disposables. no leaks!
went through the whole of my stash of nappies whilst out cos she kept ppooing!! half of them taken off were practiacally dry.

does anyone else lift the poo out (if using liners) and replace the liner if nothing on nappy, then put it back on?
thought came to me today as most of the nappies were clean and hardly wet seems a waste.

or am i being scabby?
