Trying to remember, was someone here looking for large Bumhuggers the other day? It's just that I've got one (old style, but still quite soft). Not really a good fit on Benjamin - so didn't know if anyone was interested!

mumoftoby · 20/03/2009 15:56

Hi Rchel - I was after a BH but Toby needs an xl really. I also need the new type really as I don't have a tumble dryer. Thank you anyway.

soon2befamilyof4 · 20/03/2009 20:03

Hello. Been at legoland all day and it was lovely! Sun shone all day! DD is a bit under the weather but the trip distracted her from it.

My laptop died last night and the charger decided not to work! My PC works but the keyboard was broken so I have got a spare keyboard from my Dad - isn't the same without my laptop!

With the BH - is the difference between old and new that the new ones have a pocket for extra stuffing?

TLEs - I got your wool wrap and BH today and DD is wearing it to bed! I boosted with a Petis Dessous bamboo insert so that adds 8 layers of bamboo to whatever the BH already has! With the wool wrap - is it ok with no grip/elastic at the top? The other one I has has like a drawstring bit at the top to keep it all together? I am not bothered, I am just wondering what to expect really. It is plenty big enough though, I thought it was going to be too small. It is bigger than the one I have so thought I would give it a go for night time.

Natty - My easy peasy order still isn't here!

I have found a few more Kushies all in ones that I will be selling and lots more bambino mio wraps.

I saw the message on here yesterday about using a GK anytimes as a swim nappy so I gave it a try and it worked fine! Much less bulky that the mothercare swim nappies i have - fitted more like a disposable swim nappies.

So the postman brought me today: Pink BG, Green anytimes, BH and wool wrap .

4 - What do you boost your BHs with at night?

4andnotout · 20/03/2009 20:07

soon i have loads of hemp boosters and trifold inserts for boosting bh overnight

thebluefoxategreensocks · 20/03/2009 20:15

soon: The difference with old & new style BHs is that the newer ones have a pull/flip out booster to help them dry faster and also the opening allows you to slip in extra boosting. The old style ones are all sewed up, though it's possible to cut a slit in the fleece layer and then you have a pocket for stuffing things in! I'd have never thought of that, but had a couple of XL ones before where the previous owner did it! Anyway, if you find you need another large BH, one is sitting here not being used! LOL

Oh yes, and you asked me to let you know if I found out how long of wait to expect from UD. I've been told they aim to have orders ready about 10-14 days from when they're placed. So I went ahead and ordered 2 french soy terry night nappies from them last night! I told them I was desperate to get them quickly, and I had an email today to say their supplier was out of aplix and had a delay of a few days to get it (which means they're unable to make aplix nappies!)....however, if I was OK with having coloured touch tape instead, they could make mine now! So I'm very excited! I don't mind having coloured velcro instead - Benjamin will be getting night nappies with orange velcro! LOL His favourite colour, so we'll all be happy! Glad I told them I was needing them extra quickly - having a hard enough time getting sleep at night with Benjamin's eczema - so a good nappy might help!

soon2befamilyof4 · 20/03/2009 20:47

4 - so how many layers do you use?

Rachel - thanks for the UD info. They haven't emailed me to say there is a delay or anything. Hopefully mine was ordered in time to miss the delay.

I did get an email to say that my lil stinkies have been delayed though.

4andnotout · 20/03/2009 20:50

If i use the trifold i just put the one outside the nappy under the wrap thats usually for dd3, for dd3 i pop in a fleece topped hemp booster.

soon2befamilyof4 · 20/03/2009 20:58

Ok thanks.

4 - We are planning to call our baby Thalia too, like your neice. Although we haven't decided on exact spelling yet as it seems there are lots of ways to spell it. I have never heard of anybody else with that name - only seen it in a book and loved it!

ceb80 · 20/03/2009 21:08

TLE Got nappies and woolies today thanks!

soon2befamilyof4 · 20/03/2009 21:10

Can somebody tell me the difference between BG v2 and v3? I have got one that the seller thinks is a v3 but I can't tell the difference? Haven't actually compared it properly as DD went straight to bed and nappies are in her room.

ceb80 · 20/03/2009 21:19

I think they are very similar but V3 has a wider opening for stuffing....hopefully someone else will correct me if I'm wrong (more than likely!)
It's quiet on here tonight.

ellielou02 · 20/03/2009 21:45

Hello Ladies I have started using my cloth nappies I currently have ittis and BGv3 I really like both of them and have some flexi tots on the way. Do any of you lovely ladies have any recommendations as to other nappies that I could build up my stash with?? I love the prettiness of the ittis, but the BG seem more practical IYKWIM.
Thank You

soon2befamilyof4 · 20/03/2009 21:56

Hello ellie! Welcome to the thread! I am sure we can help you find some really good nappies to stock up on! What sort of budget do you have?

ellielou02 · 20/03/2009 22:04

well not sure really looking at about £10-15 a nappy?

soon2befamilyof4 · 20/03/2009 22:06

Oh and Racheal - how much were you looking for, for the BH? I am unsure if I would be interested, it depends how we go tonight, although DD is a bit ill so might not be the best time to test but will give me a rough idea. Did you say it is the old style? I am tempted to do the cutting in the fleece lining to be able to add stuffing as at the mo, DD has it on with a bamboo booster over the top of the fleece which is a shame as the fleece would have kept her so much more comfy. I do have fleece liners but it is never the same is it?

ellielou02 · 20/03/2009 22:06

Oh where are my manners hello soon

mumoftoby · 20/03/2009 22:08

Hi ellie -I have ittis and wonderoos, but I like 2 parters too. I use fluffles quite a bit with either PUL or fleece over. Some wool is on its way to me so I will start using that over them. But fluffles are huge, not uited to some of DS2s clothes! They are fairly cheap on e-bay.

mumoftoby · 20/03/2009 22:09

sorry - should be suited not 'uited'!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 20/03/2009 22:14

People - someone needs to start next thread....

OP posts:
soon2befamilyof4 · 20/03/2009 22:15

If you can afford it then blueberry onsize (we shorten to BBOS here!) are lovely and come in loads of patterns and materials. They can sell for up to £20 a nappy BUT you can get them preloved in Excellent condition for £10-15 ish.

Or slightly cheaper - greenkids are fab too. I only have the "anytimes" which are very similar to bumgenious but come in more colours and have better inserts. (GKAT for short). They also do "minkitimes" which are soft and fluffy. I haven't tried these but apparently they are just as good as anytimes but slightly more bulky because of the soft fabric on top of the PUL.

These are my favourite pockets anyway I think.

If you are looking for something different, I still really like shaped/ 2 part nappies. I use motherease onesize (MEOS) a lot when we are at home, either with an Airflow wrap or more recently, a wool wrap.

I would always suggest getting one of anything though to see if you like it before investing in a few.

If you don't mind preloved nappies you can have great fund buying, testing and selling on the nappies.

ellielou02 · 20/03/2009 22:19

Thank you for you messages....so where do you buy pre loved? I have noticed a lot of you use wool wraps but pardon my ignorance would they not get wet?

mumoftoby · 20/03/2009 22:24

Ellie - I haven't tested it out myself yet but wool is supposed to be excellent when lanolised (this is taken from the Baby Beehinds website):

Wool covers require some extra care. In order for your wool cover to perform its best, it needs to be ?lanolised?. Lanolin is the natural oil found in wool that helps to keep sheep dry in the rain. The wool needs to have this lanolin replenished every couple of weeks to maintain its leak proof abilities. The best product to use during this process is ?Lansinoh?, which is sold at chemists. It is the purest form of lanolin available and is completely natural and hypoallergenic.
