If you wanted to be really anal I suppose you could unravel the wool, measure the length and weigh it, which would give you a gram/metre or ounce/yard ratio, which you could use to figure out the type of yarn. Or you could knit a 10cm by 10cm square and use the number of stitches/rows and the needle size to work out what weight of wool you have (you'd have to take an educated quess at the needle size to start with) Best bet would probably be to go to a knitting shop and ask them which ones they think are pure wool, and roughly what weight they are (double knit, aran, sock weight etc). If you google yarn weights there are various pages with some info.

sooon I only have one wool wrap so limited expertise. I have wrap style one that I bought, andI realy love it. I use it exactly as I would a normal PUL one

hello tree congrats on the baba! - heres a cure for colic- its called colief- you get it in boots , its about £10 and it works!it contains enzimes that colicky babies are lacking, and helps the babies digest easier... can be used for both bottle -fed and breast-fed babies. was recomended by the midwife for my pre-term twins.... one side effect though...... very stinky farts in baby! .

soon2befamilyof4 · 06/03/2009 20:32

rusmum I THINK a m/l is just half way between the medium and large iyswim.

If anyone is looking for cheap woolies, have a look here:

I bought some secondhand ones from this lady before and they're fab! She's just found more, brand new ones which her mum knitted. So thought I'd pass the link on!

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/03/2009 21:40

Rachel did you get nappies yet?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 06/03/2009 21:43

oops yes, arrived yesterday! Thanks! Sorry didn't email you yet to let you know - been busy week!

swampster · 06/03/2009 21:52

I'd already PMed about the bottle green tiny longies - if they go to someone else I will hold you personally responsible, rachel!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 06/03/2009 21:55

soon2befamilyof4 · 06/03/2009 22:55

ohhh, might have to register with ukpl specially!

soon2befamilyof4 · 06/03/2009 23:05

Looking at the woolies on there - is a soaker just like a wrap? Looks like one but thought it was an odd name?

soon2befamilyof4 · 06/03/2009 23:09

And anybody know how to work out the measurements? DD is asleep so can't do anything with her and want to reply now before it all goes. She is 14 months and weights about 22lb at a guess, wears ME airflows on the smallest setting? Seems to have skinny legs but a big (not huge) tummy? Any idea what size I would need? And I want something for my new baby too for when she is a few months old. This wool lark is confusing!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 06/03/2009 23:33

swampster: If you'd already PM'd her (before I posted a link), then surely it can't be my fault if someone else gets them! Right?! LOL I really want the tiny longies at the top! The soaker I got from her which I like best is aran weight and it's just wonderful. So I really prefer that for wool! Makes it so much more reliable, even without too many lanolisings!

soon2befamilyof4 · 07/03/2009 08:36

Rachel - I hold you responsible for me just spending the very last of my funds!! Have got to hide it from hubby - he will go mad! BUT I have got 2 lovely woolies on the way for my DD and 2 lovely ones for my new baby! at £5 each I thought it was an excellent time to try them!

Now I just desperate to get some night nappies. TLEs - I am still interested in your bumhugger. I need to sell something in the next few days to get some money in paypal!

Any ideas where else I can sell? I have put them on ukpl, cnt, here and my local netmums.

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/03/2009 08:44

LOL Soon, i will send you the ones I have and you pay when you get sorted ok! Hell we all have to help eachother.

Rachel am glad they arrived ok!

rusmum · 07/03/2009 09:04

TLES still got bambineos for you!! will hold onto them dont worry!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 07/03/2009 09:37

rachel, I'd done so well not buying nappies etc for ages, and now you made me buy a soaker!!!

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/03/2009 09:59
