Washing!

Mom is arriving tomorrow from California for DS first birthday! DP is going to Cornwall and then we'll all meet up Monday or Tuesday....

The BBH was good on DS last night

Just need to work on something reliable for DD. DP thinks the BBH is too small for her, but am not so sure...

4andnotout · 19/02/2009 13:58

I should be but im not talking to dp and im offically on strike, so no washing, cooking or tidying here today

Happy Birthday for your ds

How old is your dd? Is it for nights?

I'm wallowing, feeling sorry for myself while DP looks after DS. Operation Longies has been postponed until I stop vomiting. Blurgh.

mumoftoby · 19/02/2009 14:39

I should still be cleaning too but tired after working three 11 hour days! My poor DH - I always seem to be on strike from housework. Saying that the hoover is broken, so I have been sweeping and washing the floor by hand today.
4 - have you got anything nice planned for the afternoon?
ilmd you must be so excited about your mum's visit!

mumoftoby · 19/02/2009 14:40

Hopefully - poor you

lollipopmother · 19/02/2009 14:49

Bugger bugger bugger, washing machine broke last night, can't get anyone out until tomorrow, not looking forwards to the bill either.

Hopefully Sorry to hear that you're ill, I did enough vomiting during pregnancy to last me a lifetime, I don't intend to do it again unless blind drunk, in which case it's allowed as it's indicative of a good night

4 - Oh dear, DP in the dog house eh?!

lollipop how is your machine broken? is the water not draining away ? or is it not spinning?. if its the first it might be the outlet /pump is blocked, and thats very easy to fix...... turn machine off and unplug .the pumps are usually located underneith the drum ,(looks like black rubbery squareish thingy thats connected to pipes with clips). undo clips and remove the pump, have a wee look/ or fish inside with fingers.. you might come across blockage. have came across , hair slides ,clips ,most likely culprit is coins-( once got about £3 in change from my machine lol)check hoses - remove and run water through them- bath is ideal for this, if all is clear then its problaly your motor.replace hoses and pump remembering to tighten clips! i put extra jubilee clips on mine just o make sure its tight. if the drums not turning it could be the motor. hope this helps!

drlove8 · 19/02/2009 16:14

oh forgot to say, the best way to get at the pump is to turn the machine on its side!go in from the bottom!.

lollipopmother · 19/02/2009 16:21

DrLove8 - There's a bum love thread?!?!

Thanks for tips, machine has been slowly making more and more noise, ended last night with it so loud that DP and I both ran in to look at it at the same time (we were in different rooms). DP turned it off, we drained it, got the clothes out and the machine really smelt of burning, like when you burn the clutch in the car.

DD is now in a disposable because one came through the post today as a sample, she has a rash that hasn't shifted so I've used the nappy to get a load of Metanium on her as one last ditch effort before taking her to the doc. I think I may just buy a pack of disposables to see if it's the nappies giving her the rash, feel very sad though, hoping to God that it isn't.

OP posts:
drlove8 · 19/02/2009 16:29

machine smells of burning- im almost 100% that your motors gone! think thats really hard to replace and will be very expensive, you might be cheeper with a new machine, have you got insurance ? that might cover a replacement?. strange with the rash! the reason i started on cloth (late) was that dd4 had a rash that would not go away! tried every cream and disposible out there , but it kept comming back! with cloth her skin has stayed clear and i'll never put disp on her again!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 19/02/2009 17:00

lollipop could you try no nappy for a few hours? It helps to air them out... DD would get dreadful nappy rash, and sometimes would have to resort to a hydrocortisone cream. Wouldn't think it was the nappies giving her a rash, but some people swear that it helps wearing a disposable...

4not DD is 2.5, and it's really just the night time that's an issue.

Had a washing machine that actually made the clothes dirtier ... When we got the kitchen done last year, got a new one -- lovely Bosch that has a 15 minute wash although do nappies in the sensitive wash setting...

Am so looking forward to mom visit! She's also very kindly bringing a list of things for the kids. Stacinator, hopefully... along with a few aio bum genius...

swampster · 19/02/2009 17:30

Lollipop, I'm pretty sure my DS1's rashes and eczema were made worse/triggered by creams containing mineral oil. He used to get them all the time until I stopped putting anything with mineral oil and/or sodium laurel/laureth sulphate on him. DS2 on the other hang has a rubber arse and has never had a rash on it in him life! (touch wood)

swampster · 19/02/2009 17:31

other hang? HAND, even!!! DOH!

lollipopmother · 19/02/2009 17:34

I do at least 3hrs of nappy off time a day. I've tried Sudocrem, Metanium, Bepanthen, Canandula and Canesten. I use fleece liners, change regularly, I'm at a loss now really but I don't like using creams with my cloth so I think I'm going to get some dispos for one last try, then off to the docs to admit defeat.

Hi all. Was anyone here selling any tots nappies at all? Can't quite remember who's selling what. It's for a friend who needs some more.

4andnotout · 19/02/2009 17:48

annvan i have 8 size 1 tots £3 each plus post

lolipop dd4 has had really bad nappy rash since i used a new powder

ilovemydogandMrObama · 19/02/2009 17:52

I have 15 Tots Bots Size 1 - unbleached cotton. No stains and washed only in unscented powder.

£35.00?

lollipopmother · 19/02/2009 17:55

4 Oh dear, change back pronto, not worth the hassle the poor little mite.

Swampster I will try and be strong and put no cream on it to test your theory, I just feel really awful when it flares up because it looks sore although she doesn't cry when I wipe her or anything. I have noticed her scratching when she's not got a nappy on now, but I'm not sure whether it's just coincidence or not as she's only 5 months so maybe scratching is a bit beyond her??

Just remembered, lollipop, the thing that worked best for DS1 was Lansinoh nipple cream! It has A-mazing healing properties and gives a lovely waterproof bum.

littlelamb · 19/02/2009 18:45

Hi can anyone give me some advice? I think ds is allergic to a new washing powder I tried (back to Fairy for me) but I have 2 loads of nappies drying that I really want to wash again to get all traces of the powder out. Any idea as to the best way to do it? They're tots bots and I think the top temp you can wash at is 60, so should I just put them through a normal wash several times?

swampster · 19/02/2009 18:50

Managed to crawl to the Post Office today! Fluffy post on the way to mumoftoby, ceb80, and ILMD (2nd class snail mail). Rusmum, I don't have your address. Do you still want a blue BBH? £7.50 posted.

AnnVan · 19/02/2009 18:54

Thanks ILMD and 4 would you guys mind emailing her direct at [email protected] - she has 8 tots currently so needs a few more. I agreed to ask here, but don't really want to be a middle man iyswim. (after all, don't want a chinese whispers type situation). She does genuinely need them so I doubt she'll be doing any time wasting or anything, and she's in love with tots nappies.

jenbob · 19/02/2009 18:54

ilovemydogandmrobama - its me thats wants the tots bots nappies that Annvan asked for.

How can i get the money to you?

They are exactly what i want for dd3

ceb80 · 19/02/2009 19:07

oooh fluffy post for me then, thanks swampster
