oooohhh berry plush!!! new obsession there i think,...am loving the northen lights, and the fusia, and the animal prints....dd4 would look like pebbles flintstone in them! lol ...got to have them....., now where has DH hidden the credit cards

AnnVan · 18/02/2009 08:03

Rusmum noooooooooooo! don't do it! I'll be the only one left using two-parters

ilovemydogandMrObama · 18/02/2009 08:10

Bedwetter Pants seem to have wet the bed

Anyone?

Need something reliable for 2.5 year old for night time as she's potty trained during the day....

AnnVan: No, you won't be the only one - I mainly use two-parters! They're fab and by far the most reliable! And now that I'm in love with wool, it has to be a 2 part system!

ilovemydog: afraid we've not yet had any problems with leaking bedwetter pants. Then again, perhaps my 3yo daughter doesn't wet them completely when she does have accidents? Were they new ones? The ones I had were rather older secondhand ones, so possibly more absorbant with lots of washings? Not really sure what to say....tho you can get large Minkis (like Minki Yo-Yos) which you can stuff with as much as you need for nights. But so far, we're yet to have any leaks with them. Are they close fitting enough around her legs? And none of the terry fabric from inside was hanging out at all?

ilovemydogandMrObama · 18/02/2009 09:10

Rachel Um, I didn't know they were supposed to be washed She has them on for 12 hours, and this morning her PJs were wet, and sheets and duvet etc...

The good news though is that DS was dry wearing his BBH.

Maybe I'll swap them around.

AnnVan · 18/02/2009 09:35

Phew!

I do feel lonely in the face of all these ittis and BBOS etc though.
Did everyone see the dispo nappy thread? I mean I've got no probs with people who use them, but how much can you really say about a dispo? 'it's paper, it absorbs wee, I throw irt in the bin'

swampster · 18/02/2009 09:43

Actually, it is mainly plastics and chemicals and weirdy gels. If you've eve used a nicotine patch you should know just how effectively we absorb chemicals through our skins and think twice before putting that sort of cocktail next to a damp bum 24/7. Rant over.

AnnVan · 18/02/2009 09:47

swampster I agree, I don't use cloth primarily for environmental reasons, but because there's no harmful chemicals in it, it looks nicer, feels nicer and costs less. The landfill bonus is a perk.
I remember that when I was little there was a big scare about those fake tattoo things that transfer, because it was found that it was easy to put drugs on them that would be absorbed through the skin. And of course it's mostly children that get those things.

Hopefully · 18/02/2009 10:15

I bet we could convert about 25% of the dispo users by linking to the itti bitti website...
Seriously, I do think it's an interesting discussion in some ways - I, for instance, find dispos more of a pain. We only get a bin collection once every 2 weeks, so the thought of poo hanging round for 2 weeks grosses me out totally!
The misinformed argument that reusables are no better, based on that ridiculously misleading report that assumed we all boil wash and iron our nappies also annoys me - I don't get cross with the person who's based their opinion on it, but with the report writers for turning so many potential reusable users off with misleading conclusions.

4andnotout · 18/02/2009 11:27

Have just added loads of nappies on the for sale board, if anyone wants anything let me know an i'll do a deal

rusmum · 18/02/2009 12:04

rachel have decided to stick with 2 parters!!!!!!

I will not be swayed!! LOL Fancy gettting into wool but dont know where to start!

AnnVan · 18/02/2009 12:10

rusmumyaaaaaay!!
About wool - I managed to get holdof a stacinator wool wrap, and I really like it! The Swaddlebees ones look quite good as well.

cyteen · 18/02/2009 13:54

Ann don't worry, I still love my 2-parters as well although I do have quite a mongrel collection of 2-parters and AIOs now, lol

speaking of which, lolli the BBOS arrived today, it's gorgeous! thank you.

agree re. the dispo thread, i mean, they have their place, we still use them sometimes, but i find that Pampers absolutely stink even before you put them on - horrible chemical smell. plus they have repeatedly leaked poo of late whereas even the compact Ittis seem able to cope with DS's bottom explosions.

speaking of which...

back later

AnnVan · 18/02/2009 14:17

cyteen I think our boys really are in sync! They're internet poo buddies or something

Hopefully · 18/02/2009 16:19

lol at internet poo buddies.

I stripped DS at baby group today so everyone could admire his itti bitti. Mostly I got slightly worried/sympathetic looks... . I'm sure they were secretly jealous.

Hopefully · 18/02/2009 16:52

Ooh, and I am going to buy wool tomorrow to knit some longies. Can't find any nice preloved ones, and seems insane to spend £25 on new ones when I can knit my own for (probably) less than half the price. I'm not an amazing knitter, but this pattern looks simple enough for me. I'm hoping the shop in town will have some nice wool, otherwise I'll have to order some online.
So, do I use up my unused lansinoh for lanolising? I've heard you can...

thebluefoxategreensocks · 18/02/2009 17:06

Hopefully: oooh, love that pattern - wish I could knit! But working on some crochet longies at the moment, but only done nearly half on one leg so far!! Love Arran weight wool (tho have to make sure the pattern you're using is for that thickness of wool) but some shorties I have which were made from Arran are fab - think I'll stick with that weight of wool, as sooo bomb proof! BTW, what size woolies you looking for, and only longies? I might have a spare pair of shorties - but they'd be a large/xl in size.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 18/02/2009 17:09

btw, not yet made up my mind if I'll get rid of any of my woolies yet - but just trying to see how many I end up using, etc. Still can't get the Disana ones up to be 100% waterproof - don't know what the deal is! But bit disappointing...I've done them 3 times so far (tho rinsed them after the first time, so maybe that doesn't count?) ... just have to wait for some more wool cure/lanolin stuff to come in the post (hopefully lady is posting it tomorrow), as my current bottle ran out!

lollipopmother · 18/02/2009 17:30

Hopoefully - If you're getting your own wool you need to get Aran weight as Rachel said, I've heard Blue Faced Leicester is good for wraps. If you get normal wool it won't work. I think you can use the nipple cream, but I would go to either Bibs n Bots or Bums N Roses to get scented lanolin and wool wash, scrummy!

OP posts:
Hopefully · 18/02/2009 18:21

Lollipop thanks for the links - might get some yummy lanolin/wash if I have joy with the knitting/initial lanolising. Trying to keep the cost down initially in case it's a total disaster!
Have been perusing the wool board on cloth nappy tree for tips, I'm raring to go!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 18/02/2009 18:27

Any ideas for non leaking night pants/nappy for 2.5 year old?

swampster · 18/02/2009 19:22

ilove... Minki Yoyos?

lollipopmother · 18/02/2009 20:45

Cyteen - Oh good, glad you like it, I'm always a bit apprehensive when I sell nappies as I know some peoples 'GUC' is another persons 'absolute rubbish!'. It's a totally gorgeous colour though isn't it, no getting away from it. My DP nearly fell over when I said I'd sold it!

OP posts:
Hopefully · 18/02/2009 20:51

Rachel, thanks for the offer, but DS is only just under 15lbs, so XL might be a teensy bit big on him, even with a night nappy!

TheLadyEvenstar · 19/02/2009 09:32

rusmum, I can afford the nappies now!
Rachel I am hoping to get to the post office today and post your nappies. How many tots do you want? I have somewhere in the region of 60 lol and also have 19 size 1 tots as well.

I also have a few pairs of wool soakers which are too small for Zachary.
