OOH who has taken the 3rd

ilovemydogandMrObama · 13/02/2009 22:27

Off the wall query. I have a bucket (ok, two buckets, one in each bathroom) for nappies, and lined with a mesh liner thing.

I've always taken my nappies out and put into washing machine, but was reading something and the impression I got was that the rest of the world just put the whole mesh thing into the washing machine...

Anyone?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 13/02/2009 22:31

I received the BBSS I got the other day, a bit disappointed, it's quite faded (it's the same as your first one) and the elastic a bit weak not having a good time with pre-loved recently... think I might sell it and get a new itti instead... oh, sent your parcel first rec del.

Mesh in the machine... Never occured to me to take the nappies out!
While we're on the subject, does anyone not have room in/near their bathroom for changing? wondering what we'll do when T is on solids and we actually have something to flush away. Will I have to balance it on the liner, take it downstairs to bathroom and flush, while balancing T on the other arm?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 13/02/2009 22:32

IL yes, just leave it open, the nappies come out by themselves during the wash

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 13/02/2009 22:36

Hopefully we have the smallest bathroom in the world (originally it was split and the bathroom side was as long as the bath, and the toilet side was so tight you needed to leave the seat up to open the door) and have no space in bedrooms, so my clever dad built me a changing table that fits on the bath, so I have toilet on one side and sink on the other IYKWIM. if you look at pics on the M album on FB you should see it, if that's s.thing you could fit/make (you're so handy I'm sure you'll enjoy a bit of carpentry)

4andnotout · 13/02/2009 22:38

I leave the mesh open and chuck everything in, i change dd3 wherever i can catch her bacically, i change her let her trot off and then take nappy to the toilet to dispose of contents DD4 is great as she cant even roll, so i can leave her anywhere and she wont have moved
DISCLAIMER 4andnotout is not a bad parent, she does not leave child unattended

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 13/02/2009 22:38

I really want a yellow itti... and a peppermint one.... (have hidden all surplus nappies as mum is coming tomorrow ....)

Hopefully · 13/02/2009 23:01

Sunflower I love that you equate the ability to bake a decent victoria sponge with being able to construct a changing mat to fit on the bath! Luckily DP is a yachtbuilder, so he might actually be able to construct something like that.
ps, I think M has the best neatly pencilled in eyebrows in the world. i think she gets up and plucks and pencils them before you get up.
4 I like your thinking. DS is so lazy I can leave him pretty much anywhere! Would probably drop poo off nappy even without having to balance him in the other hand though

I am trying sooooo hard to resist the urge to buy more itti bittis till I've at least tried the one I've ordered. It's hard resisting though!
A friend is lending me a couple of other nappies to try at night, but I've just realised that my wraps are going to be too small over big boosted nappies. Need to find myself some lovely wool asap.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 13/02/2009 23:16

hopefully I'll try and catch her and get her to do mine too!! sorry, just looked and you can only see the changing mat on the pics, if you want an idea then I'll take pics of all sides.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 13/02/2009 23:55

just found this

drlove8 · 14/02/2009 00:17

hi sunflower! got delivery of wraps today- wow that was fast! many thanks again. as soon as i opened the package, ds4 grabed the spotty and ran of with it shouting " its mine, its mine", caught him trying to out it on over his trousers , ...he's potty trained and doesnt wear nappies at all! think he just wanted a wee bit of the fabulousness for himself.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 14/02/2009 00:25

sunflower: ooooh, so lovely & bright & colourful! Who could possibly want to use Pampers after seeing a display like that!

BTW, anyone seen any cheap secondhand inserts for Ittis? Doubt they're really about, but I got 3 medium Itti Bitti Classics the other day (aparently they work just the same, but without the fluffy outer - just PUL). However, it's just the outers I got, as the inserts that the previous owner had were damaged/destroyed. They were less than 4 pounds each, so thought I'd risk buying them and if nothing else stuffing something else inside. But might be nice to have some decent official inserts! They're for bump anyway, so don't need them for a little while yet (not due for just under 7 weeks), but since everyone is talking about Ittis, thought maybe someone might have seen some about!

lollipopmother · 14/02/2009 07:17

Rachel - Pre-loved Itti inserts go like wild fire, you have to be in the right place at the right time when they come up, certainly there won't be any hanging around. If I see any I'll stick a word in for you though.

Sunflower - Oh FFS, I hate people who sell substandard nappies and don't tell you, so disappointing, some people just don't care that they're ripping you off I think.

Hopefully - I don't change E in the bathroom. Personally I would't do any balancing of anything, leave the poo in the nappy and take the whole lot into the bathroom!!

Elizabeth slept through again last night, would've been wicked except DP went out on the lash last night and phoned (PHONED!!) at 12:30am to say that he was bringing friends back to stay for the weekend. Well that's fine, except the house is a bloody tip, so I was then out of bed for the next two hours tidying the place up before they arrived - I had to BRUSH the carpets by hand because I couldn't get the hoover out!

OP posts:
Hopefully · 14/02/2009 07:55

Lollipop that is dedication! I would have told DP his friends could stay if they tidied the house for me in the morning. You are clearly a far better hostess than me. Maybe you can guilt him into breakfast in bed today?

Sunflower that display is so pretty!
If you get a chance to photograph the mat that would be great (could be quite a good solution for us), but no urgency - DP won't get into gear to do anything about it for ages.

rusmum · 14/02/2009 08:26

i think i really need to try an itti!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 14/02/2009 09:27

I think had I seen that display in the flesh, I'd have far more ittis!

hopefully will do

right, off to get the house half decent, mum's on the plane!

mumoftoby · 14/02/2009 10:30

Jesus Lollipop you must be absolutely knackered - I hope you got a fab valentine's present.

I am in love - my new ittis have just arrived. I can see my tots bots cotton and most of my fluffles being sold. Even my DH (who usually pretends to prefer the cheapest baby equipment)loves them. I just need loads of white t-shirts and more ittis and his summer clothes are sorted, i'll just show his beuatiful fluffy bum!

I would appreciate some help though please; Do you need to just wash the inserts before use or the whole thing? The vibrant colour won't leak onto the other nappies will they?

mumoftoby · 14/02/2009 10:32

Sorry - I have just re-read that and should have previewed prior to posting. I can spell, i'm just dopey!

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 14/02/2009 11:02

mumoftoby IME the Ittis don't shed colour in the wash - I just chuck the whole lot in

lollipop I'm interested in the orange BBOS Those bright colours just sucker me every time.

mumoftoby · 14/02/2009 11:44

Thanks Cyteen!

lollipopmother · 14/02/2009 13:51

Cyteen - If you're interested in the BBOS (it is VERY vibrant and lushious!) please email me on lollipopmother at yahoo dot co dot uk.

MumofToby - What is this Valentine's present you talk of . The itti's will gain absorbency the more that they're washed but tbh as long as you don't plan to leave them on long you can just use them straight away. I use my tri-fold boosters on their own with my own fleece liners anyway so they wouldn't be near the skin.

I spent this morning in A&E with one of the guests because last night she ended up doing a pissed up face plant in the middle of the road and somehow sprained her ankle, although both she and two nurses thought she'd broken it. An X-ray and two hour wait confirmed only a sprain.

Does anyone know how to get onto the Yahoo real nappy group? I am fairly stooopid when it comes to these things....

mumoftoby · 14/02/2009 14:04

Seriously lollipop - 2 hours midnight cleaning and a morning in a&e - you deserve something fantastic! If I were you I would treat yourself on his paypal etc! But then again my dh would prefer that to having to pick a present.

Hopefully · 14/02/2009 15:21

OMG my itti bitti has arrived! I think I'm in love too...
Now wondering where I can scrape together enough money to buy a few more! Have bought a couple of preloved night nappies of various descriptions, so have convinced myself I'm saving money there, which can now be spent on itti bittis.

Lollipop you are practically a saint.
