ds2 is 14m and 30 lbs

TLES - cellar nappy stash. Thats hardcore! {fgrin]

Hello to Heather new to post, I haven't got the baby to play with my nappies yet so I pop in now and again.

Forgot to pick uo the swing I reserved today. Pregnant mush brain. Had panic attack and bought 8 baby grows too. I can't really remember what tiny babies need!

I do know I need some buckets for these nappies!! Live in tall thin house so thinking one on every level. Can't get over cost of such drab things as nappy pails and wash bags. I wanna buy funky wraps!

Must buy soda crystals and white vinegar [sp?] too. Should help cut down on washing spend.

Tree lol at hardcore!

Why not just go to the 99p shop and buy a bucket with a lid??? much cheaper and does the same!

treedelivery · 12/12/2008 19:09

I will!! Felt I ought to be buying some wonder product, but actually a bucket is a bucket isn't it.

EssieAStarInBethlehem · 12/12/2008 21:06

Hi all!
Yes, good news on the pop-ins - they're doing fine now and we had a whole night with no leaks. Daytime leaks at the leg have occurred, but not necessarily because of the nappy; more because of user error.

I'm happy to sell my doctored pop-ins: they're perfectly usable pop-in nappies, just without the internal flap. (I could sew it back on; it would be used for a tiny baby.) The problem is only a problem with small boys. (I mean small in size or young, as I'm not too clear there! ) I can explain all and put plenty of pictures. They'd be fine if you just wanted to try them.

lollipopmother · 12/12/2008 21:19

What bit have you actually cut off then Essie, is it the flap inside the nappy that protect the poppers?

babyjjbaby · 12/12/2008 22:29

lolipop can u email me [email protected] re boosters please

essie how much for one pop in

leeloo1 · 12/12/2008 22:59

Hi TLESinChristmasStockings - another new poster here.

Do you have any wraps left - I'm hoping to try ME ones, pref Airflow, with my totsbots nappies, but can't afford to buy new ones.

TLESinChristmasStockings · 12/12/2008 23:06

Lee what size do you need hun?

Essie3 · 12/12/2008 23:45

lollipop yes it's the front flap that covers the poppers. The problem is that because Iestyn is a teensy little man (13lb at 6 months...!) the flap is low on him, and he wees on the flap which is waterproof, and then the wee is all redirected out of seams, rather than going on the soaker. We've had 2 dry nights and mostly dry days too (we were having small leg leaks in the day - the wet legs were mainly due to the soaker being bunched up). Once he's on the next popper setting this won't be a problem.
If anyone wants to buy the doctored ones, I can sew the flap back on if you like. Baby for a doctored pop-in...£5? No night booster alas because I only got 5 when I bought in bulk.

Essie3 · 12/12/2008 23:51

Tree I live in Tooting and I've seen some dead cool buckets here.
Earlier this week I saw a bucket that actually looked identical to expensive nappy pails, but I can't quite remember where that was.
We also have candy stripe coloured ones with lids (they look like sweets!), and ones like plastic dustbins with clips to hold the lid on. Rarely more than £4.99.
I was using the large bag I got with my pop-ins, but they made Iestyn's room smell, I thought (they don't close up tight enough - the small one is great, but the big one doesn't work because it's waterproof fabric and a drawstring which doesn't draw properly on the waterproof bit). So I changed the laundry basket into a nappy bin, and it's ever so smart! (Gosh, I'm sure I didn't pay £8.80 for it.)

Essie3 · 12/12/2008 23:51

Just re-read that, all about buckets. I need to get out more!

treedelivery · 13/12/2008 00:50

lol at Essie3. Get out more and buy more buckets!!

We live in a shrinking mummy world. Am loving the candy stripe idea.

thumbElf · 13/12/2008 00:58

Tree, me duck, I have the best nappy pail ever - it is a large brewing pail! the lid fits very tightly, as it would have to if you were brewing beer in it - and it takes exactly a full load of washing. Comparatively cheap, I believe, in relation to these specialist products (although I have to say I was given mine ) - here is one example.

thumbElf · 13/12/2008 01:00

relatively cheap for the size of it, I meant!

treedelivery · 13/12/2008 01:02

Your just making beer and pretending to fluff nappies! You've been sprung

Went out into the big wide world of mumsnet but got jumped up and down on. Staying in nappy happy land - bugger that!!

thumbElf · 13/12/2008 01:10

oh tree! who jumped on you? I'll go and bash them for you [fierce emoticon]

LOL at beer making - I wish! Actually, no I don't - it would be wine - especially now DH has given up the alcohol (since mid-September - he's doing very well!)

Did I mention before on this thread that I use my mum's stash of Colostomy wipes as nappy liners? they work very well, much softer than the paperish ones you can buy. Just in case you happen to know anyone who has a colostomy, they usually have faaaar too many wipes to use, and also little tiny scented bin bags for disposal (I only flush the pooey ones).

wenceslasmyeducation · 13/12/2008 09:58

VeeBee3 I have a ton of Little Ewes that I use as changing mat liners. I found them too bulky to use as a nappy, very difficult to fold round DS.
BBM advised that Lollipop terry squares had lasted well and I am very pleased with the dozen I bought. I will probably need to use boosters with them soon, but then the material is where you want it, not bulky round the hips.

ilovemydog · 13/12/2008 10:08

I just have a standard hardware store bucket (with lid). It was £2.50. Makes me laugh though - if one goes across the street to the posh baby boutique place, it's the same bucket, but they have it fitted out with a net (for display purposes only!) and charge £7.50

Think best liners are Bambino Mio - very transparent and flushable! (and have had clogged drains after DP thought it wouldn't be a problem to flush wipes!)

up2myknees · 13/12/2008 10:25

hi all!

treedelivery · 13/12/2008 11:51

Was going to go research and buy buckets but weather is so urgh might stay on couch. Work tommorow

Maybe shopping - take mind off it. TKmax STILL have 'the nappies'. Wonder when the sale starts, could really do with them going half price!

thumbelf - dh doing very well indeed, are you teetotal to support him? Or big fat NO to that?

4CALLINGBIRDSandnotout · 13/12/2008 11:56

Morning all
essie im just waiting for an e cheque to clear but then i'd definately be interested in at least 2 pop ins, i have a 7 week old girl so will i need the flap in or not

thumbElf · 13/12/2008 12:28

big fat no, tree! He wouldn't go teetotal when I was pg, so now I haven't either. How childish, some will murmur, but in fact he is doing fine, he even brings me my evening spritzer! I think he relishes the challenge, tbh.

Essie3 · 13/12/2008 12:59

4callingbirds how big is she? If she's teeny, you might need to fold over the flap (there's a photo of that on my profile, but you may not be able to work it out! I might have to make a diagram) but otherwise the flap serves no purpose. If you do want to fold over, I can sew the flap back on, and the difference will be that you'll have a seam on the flap. No biggie?
