Is there anyone here who doesn't 'do' the whole Father Xmas thing...

...or the tooth fairy / Easter bunny etc?

DH and i were discussing whether to do the Father Xmas thing with our kids (they are very small at the moment), and we don't really see the point. We DO celebrate on Xmas Day, but we aren't religious. We do have gifts and a special meal, but we don't really buy into the heavily commercial side of it all.

If you don't do it, do you get much bother from family / friends? Does it cause problems with school friends who 'believe' in him?

(and please, i am NOT critising anyone who DOES do it, i'm just wondering how parents who don't find it)

Yes, I love seeing what other people do too.

There's also the whole thing of reconciling yours and DH's traditions which may not be the same. In Dh's fmaily, FC brings all the presents - to my mind, this is odd - how do you thank people, relatives may miss pleasure of seeing child open gifts etc. My family, however, were so obsessed with children saying thank you that the pile of presents you got in front of you was the pile for you to GIVE out, not the ones FOR you.
On another note, When I was 7 I found reindeer footprints outside our house (in the middle of a city) and my parents have always denied doing it ................

Morloth said:"I just don't see the correlation Cory, we do read fantasy stories (in fact I would say 85% of my book collection is fantasy) - but we don't tell him that trolls are real and are going to come into his house at night."

Of course trolls will not be coming into our house at night!! I inherited my fathers troll-slaying capabilities, and they would be far too frightened to venture anywhere near our house, given my extensive training in monster extermination and my impressive magic powers (not to mention DHs super powers..)
