College, Uni, OU or anything else. How's it going? The good the bad and the obscure.

My Head is spinning...even though it was only a half day...it was a long day...parking was shite, and it probably took me aslong to park as it did to drive there....
It was fab to see Uni-Buddies though and catch up wiht everyone and find out how their placements went, etc.....

So...anyway....people....POST!!!!!!!!!!!

LollipopViolet · 20/04/2009 22:44

FairLady, I'm an inbound call centre associate, you ring me I'm tolerating the job but dreading summer.

Went OK, spent the day in the library, handed it in, then went to see Flight 666 at the cinema with my mates Iron Maiden blasted through cinema surround sound....wow!

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 25/04/2009 11:08

gosh, first week back in Uni...and I survived

Lots and lots to do assignment wise this very short term....yikes......
wonder what notalone has this term and how the Placement went...
my Placement went brill and I got the highest marks in every part of my PPlat...speaking to fellow students, I was rather lucky with my Placement....some had very odd educators and some did not have a good time on Placement
We have our Case study Presentation in June, we have our Human Health MCT end of June, we have to conduct an Interview with an elderly, healthy person and than have to write up 3000 words on our findings, and stuff, we have to, in pairs, organise and do a half hour practical Groupwork session and than we have a Formative Group Presentation to do about Lifespan theories (our group has the age group 14-18....)....
so, will be busy!

LollipopViolet · 30/04/2009 11:21

Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Was supposed to be going for interview for a summer work placement, and the guy has just emailled me to re-arrange due to illness. I've been worrying about this for WEEKS! I wanted it over and done with TODAY!

Just my stinking rotten luck. Things like this ALWAYS happen to me.

tammybear · 02/05/2009 15:37

Lol I have been crap and not been keeping up to date here!!

Well things have been extremely hectic!! I have 10 days til my first of four deadlines. Things are very disorganised at uni, and I mean with our tutors and the course. Shall be complaining when I have time to figure out how to complain properly!

Our projects have been quite difficult. Currently trying to think of a way to advertise BBC Radio 3 and 4 in a modern living style and how to photograph African music as an album cover and how to photograph the system/city versus the individual/suburbia. Many headaches at the moment!!

But other than that, things are pretty good. I have my first photography job tomorrow. Doing a holy communion. Absolutely crapping myself over it!! Sure I'll be fine, but it's quite a big thing, and my first, so naturally gonna be nervous. Also I've spoken to another photographer who will be letting me know when he has some weddings coming up that I can assist with.

Also had an exhibition this Wednesday just gone. Seems to have gone well, and some of my business cards have disappeared too. Good news I'm at the moment just really looking forward to the end of uni so I can start doing personal projects and relaxing for once! So much I need to do round the house but just have no time at the moment.

Fairlady, so glad your placement went really well and that you have great marks

LV, sorry to hear you're not enjoying your job. I admire you for coping with that as well as doing your course. I don't think I can. And stuff like that always happens to me with interviews and stuff. Our date for our presentation was pushed back another week so we had an extra week to freak out over it. Good luck with the interview when you do have it.

FairLadyRantALot · 03/05/2009 20:51

sounds hectic tammy....but also sounds interesting...but shame things are not as well organized as they could/should be....

tammybear · 04/05/2009 10:54

Yeah, I wish it was better organised/run. Half the time, I dunno why I'm there.

But yesterday went okay. Was very nervous. Got some nice family photos. Didn't get as many of the guests though, so feel a bit disappointed, but hopefully next time, I'll be more confident with it.

FairLadyRantALot · 06/05/2009 09:25

glad the photojob went well enough, and I am sure next time you get more guests pictures, too

Well, we have interprofressional learning tomorrow and the day after....that will be fun....I suppose...

FairLadyRantALot · 08/05/2009 21:35

Well, that Interprofessional learning was a bit of a token effort and therefore a bit of a waste of time, tbh....

LollipopViolet · 12/05/2009 19:27

I've PASSED! We found out if we'd made it onto Level 2 today! I'VE PASSED MY FIRST YEAR! Gotta love my course for no exams lol!

FairLadyRantALot · 13/05/2009 18:11

well done you....
won't know until after the Human Health Exam and all these assignemtns if I have passed or not, lol...

tammybear · 15/05/2009 23:32

Well done LV!

Ah no FairLady, when is that all out the way?

I handed in my last WBL report yesterday, so glad that module is finished for this year. Very happy about that! Got two deadlines next Friday which are more scary really. So much work to do when I look at it on the surface, but I think in reality I'll get it done in plenty of time. Then an essay due in after half term, which seems silly as we are suppose to finish this year on 5th June, so dunno why we're gonna have a week off to go back for a week when all our deadlines are gone only to leave again til Sept for end of the week... Oh well lol.

How's everyone doing? Not long til end of the first year!

FairLadyRantALot · 16/05/2009 10:50

tammy, is it a studyweek, that week?
We have those around the times we break up but when we still got assignments to do, etc...
the Multiple choice test is on the 26th June....we do have a week or so of studyweek before, and don't have much attendance at Uni from this week on....I think...after we done the case study we are only Thursday and Friday in, but I might got that wrong...

FairLadyRantALot · 17/05/2009 15:22

Well...I finally finished my Case study proper, i.e. Powerpoint notespages, and stuff....funny enough in the end it has come to exactly 20 minutes, which is brill...will do lots of talking though and hope I won't freeze or mumble....wish me luck with this...am so freaked out about it...it's my first ever presentation, well, proper one...

FairLadyRantALot · 28/05/2009 17:16

Well, I got a B for my case study, which is good....but am a bit miffed because they said that of course certain things vary depending on setting and not to worry, blablabla, and than I was only given 1 point for Interprofessional Working, which simply, well.....there was no interprofessional working, hence well, I couldn't really say much about it, could I...indeed, I didn't include it because it simply didn't apply....bar where I mentioned that we got the referral form so and so and that patient was having further appointments with his consultant and a nurse...
hohum....next time I shall give precious time warbling on about somehting that didn't actually had any relevence...hohum...
but am happy enough with teh grade...not bad for my first ever proper presentation, I suppose...

FairLadyRantALot · 08/06/2009 13:07

have you all abondened ship here....
people, tell me how are you all getting on?

tammybear · 12/06/2009 12:47

Hello!

Sorry, it's been pretty hectic, especially the past week. I have officially finished my first year, but going in again for two days next week, one to speak to two tutors and find out my grades and how they thought my work was and what I could improve on next time, and two to help organise the end of year exhibition.

But I found out today, that I got an A for a major piece of work I thought I hadn't done all too well in, so I'm very happy!! I also got told by another tutor that I got the highest mark in the class and can talk to him properly next week about it. Another tutor said he couldn't remember my grade off the top of his head, but he remembered that my essay was very good, a pleasant read and I did well. Also find out more next week. So I'm very happy.

Had a nightmare yesterday. I was sent a letter from the council saying my council tax exemption was ending today, so I had to prove I was going to carry on in second year. I got a letter from the college, but then the council was saying that the hours put in the letter that I did did not work out as a full time course. It's been sorted out now, but it was a nightmare, they said I could have had to pay back 9 months worth of council tax! Pfft.

I also think I may have broken my little toe. I walked into my DD's sofa and it's pretty solid, so my toe swell up to twice its size, is now purple and my foot is partly blue :S I can walk on it, but it does hurt. Just topped my day off that did lol.

But anyway, enough about me! Well done for getting a B Fairlady! Sorry to hear about the complications with the interprofessional working part. But you're right, if there is no part of it, then you cannot include it! Have you finished yet?

FairLadyRantALot · 12/06/2009 14:47

Hi...oh glad it is going so well for you tamy
But ouch on the toe issue...you poor thing....

My course finishes on the 26th of June with a Human Health Multiple choice exam ...still got to hand in my Essay, as well....really need to get that done, actually ....done all my reading around, and found all the back up theory's for the things I want to include...so...writing it should not be that difficult...she says...lol...

can't believe my first year is almost finsihed...yikes

tammybear · 12/06/2009 17:52

This year has flown by! Can't believe I'm half way through my course, though there is a third top up year if I fancy doing it. Not decided yet, as I'll have to go to our actual uni which will be a nightmare with DD and school. Will have to see.

We had an essay due in at the beginning of the month, and I had completely forgotten how to write one. It had been 8 years since my last one, so took a while to get my head round it. Hopefully you'll find it much easier though, especially if you have everything you need to put in it Hopefully the exam will be easy enough too

FairLadyRantALot · 16/06/2009 18:27

Well...almost finished the essays now...happy wiht the first one, not quite as sure about teh 2. part of it...and currently I am still 100 words over the permitted word count...aergh...but well..I will sort it out later and print it all out and stuff...

Just found out my final grade for one of the modules , it is the Foundations for Practice Module, which is marked by Placement and that case study....and I got an A am very chuffed with that

should soon find out the Skills for proffessional practive grade...., and obviously Occ Being and Human Health will come a bit later...

tammybear · 17/06/2009 20:10

Oh congrats! Very happy for you! I'm sure you'll get the word count sorted no problems.

I've got most of my grades back except for one module. I've got an A, 2 B's and 2 C's. I'm very surprised by the 2 C's, as I had 3 weeks to complete a whole project that we should have had at least 2 months to complete (letter of complaint will be heading the colleges way due to their poor organisation) and the other was for my essay which I was also surprised about as apparantly some of my research was incorrect. Ooops! Lol. But only one person in our class of about 50 actually got a B for that essay. And I actually got a B for my presentation, which I am very shocked over. I always thought I was really poor at them.

FairLadyRantALot · 18/06/2009 09:30

seems like you are doing really well there....
we only have 4 modules altogether....assignement wise, so far I have all A's and B's....so, the only 2 things that could put a spanner into the works for finishing this year as well as it started are this essay and the exam....yikes...

FairLadyRantALot · 19/06/2009 18:53

Hi all...not that there is many "all" here...lol....
had an amazing day today...we went to LUMS, which is Leicester University disection hall, and it was brill ....had been in one before, when I did my nursing training...but it was still amazing...in a weird sort of way...
Fantastic to see it all life, just before our human health exam....

Also met my Educators for my next placement and they were fabulous and seem very lovely....am now looking even more forward to it

Also, wa able to speak to the Tutor that does a lot about Placement organising, and put my name forward to go to Canada (either Toronto or in Halifax somewhere)...so...hopefully that will work out...it would be an amzing experience Really hoping to get that...as Canada is a place dh and I have talked about immigrating to one day...but I have never been (dh was there often wiht teh army)...so...a placement would give me more of an idea about chances of working/getting to know the system, etc....and well, getting to know the country
But of course, there is a chance this is not going to work out...but we shall see

Wondering how JDB and Notalone are getting on, and everyone else...of course
