I’ve seen these threads on here before and now I’m interested in hearing the replies for my own child.

I drew the aeroplane, my child did the rest - colouring in, extra squiggles on top, selecting the colours and where to put them. It’s felt tip.

How old so you think this child might have been?

Once we get a few replies I will come back and share the reasons I’m asking.

A) 6 months old
Or
B) 14 & they are considering art GCSE

Nobody ever needs validation if their child is colouring/ painting/ doing maths/ writing poetry at the expected age

Smartiepants79 · 21/07/2025 20:01

Around 4 or 5. Possible older if motor control and colouring are not their thing.

13 and a half

It really doesnt matter the age, some kids are artistic - some arent.

It would be easier, for everyone, to just say in the opening post, "This is by my 7 year old, i'm worried about motor skills. Is this within the realms of normal for her age or concerning."

4.5-5?

Thindog · 21/07/2025 20:08

i think this is an older child, maybe 10 or so. Younger children tend to colour in by circling, not the side to side strokes here. Also the windows are very neat for a young child.
Colouring in is, in my not humble opinion, a very low level skill. Pencil control can be practised in more creative ways that stretch a child's imagination rather that just occupying them. Let them draw their own picture.

About 6?

TomatoSandwiches · 21/07/2025 20:10

I still colour like that so at least 480 months.

It’s a little neater in the lines than my 4.5 year old can do, so I’ll pitch it at aged 5.

Alifemoreordinary123 · 21/07/2025 20:12

5/6

Ohthatsabitshit · 21/07/2025 20:12

One of mine could have done this at 3-4 and one at about 6. They’re both functioning adults now and neither colour in for a living.

1AngelicFruitCake · 21/07/2025 20:13

I’ve seen older 3 year olds colour like that or even neater. I’ve known 5 year olds to colour less neatly. I’d say anywhere between 3-6

My nearly 4yo would colour in like this.

My nearly 7yo's colouring would be much messier.

18 ? Is the plane dive bombing to the ground or did you post it at a 90 degree angle ?

PurpleFlower1983 · 21/07/2025 20:24

I would say 5.

WooleyMunky · 21/07/2025 20:26

4 or 5
