The fabric is showing through and these shoes are only a month old :( does anyone know how I could possibly fix them as I have twins and don’t fancy buying another pair of trainers I would rather try and fix
thanks in advance!!

@Cherlyynn Do you not get their feet measured and shoes that have different widths? They have obviously crawled around in those. So maybe cheap indoor shoes and fitted ones when you go out?

@TizerorFizz Genuine question but where can I get my daughters feet measured please? Clarks are shocking so I've been put off!

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 18:21

Literally got their feet measured in Clark’s and they were just getting annoyed as the girls wouldn’t sit still and I got their feet measured in SCHUH and the women couldn’t get a clear reading both places unhelpful

Measure them yourself at home with a gauge

I was going to recommend ShoeGoo too.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/04/2025 18:25

I honestly wouldn't worry. You'll drive yourself mad if you want perfect like-new looking clothing/footwear.
It doesn't look like normal wear through. More like shoes having been dragged on pavement. Was baby crawling on a rough surface?
FWIW I buy Vans velcro closure toddler old skool (no laces or zippers) and all have worn well with my now 3y/o and my very young toddler. They're not expensive and I buy 3-4 pairs in successive sizes during the Black Friday sale. I've been able to throw them in the wash on gentle as well.

We have nice trainers and kicking about in the park trainers. Mine wear black, leather addidas for the park.

StMarie4me · 08/04/2025 18:29

Children’s shoes are there to protect their feet. Either don’t buy branded, or don’t worry about it.

Your child is not a fashion model!

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 18:30

Yeah I think she was scraping them on the steps or something :( and yeah they used to have addias gazelles from Vinted I managed to get matching for them on there cheap and they lasted really well they just grew out of them! I wanted to get the vans you posted but I didn’t manage to get them in the sale quick enough and they sold out so we bought them the Nikes as their birthday present as they were in the sale too, I wish we just bought some from Asda tbh haha

Why on earth would you buy a new pair of trainers for a toddler because they have a scuff?? Do people actually live like this?

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 18:32

Mine do too just stupidly decided to wear these today

I have no idea I just want to fix them so I don’t have to buy new ones

You don't need to buy new ones until they grow out of these

You don’t need to fix them or buy new! You just continue to use them!

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 18:34

sorry I don’t understand how the shoegoo will help? Not trying to be ignorant

Next time go for a decent brand like Geox or Start-rite and choose a style with a protective bumper on the toes.

Like these for example (so cute!)

If there is a branch of John Lewis or Charles Clinkard near you, they stock Geox. Or try independent shoe shops if there are any nearby.

Nail varnish may work the best!

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 18:35

I will 100% continue to use them

There’s nothing wrong with them. Shoes are meant to take the brunt of all the wear and tear on toddler’s feet. That’s the point of shoes.

beenwhereyouare · 08/04/2025 18:38

This. But first, clean and use polish or a marker. Let dry completely.

One question- will the toddler be able to peel the shoe goo off?

Watch the site. Frequent sales. 😁

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 18:41

Not sure if she will notice it if it’s clear so hopefully not!

Cute but $$$ ( here in Canada, anyway). Yesterday, was shopping for my 3 y/o and a pair were $75 on sale. 😱

Stickortwigs · 08/04/2025 18:42

DD is 8 and this is the first year her shoes haven’t all constantly looked like that. I think you just have to ignore it and if they fits they get worn.
