The fabric is showing through and these shoes are only a month old :( does anyone know how I could possibly fix them as I have twins and don’t fancy buying another pair of trainers I would rather try and fix
thanks in advance!!

I wouldn't put shoe goo on a toddlers shoe, it's not safe if licked or eaten.

SouthLondonMum22 · 08/04/2025 18:44

My 2 year old lives in Nike trainers and they've never looked like this after a month. I'd take them back to where you got them from and see what they say.

Measure them yourself at home with a gauge

Or a tape measure while sleeping! 😄

First post nailed it as usual.

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 18:56

even if they were unbranded I would still be posting how to fix the shoes 🤣

But it’s pointless. Kids scuff shoes. If I see toddlers in pristine outfits and shoes I just feel sorry for them. Better to see a kid with scuffed shoes and worn out knees.

The shoes in the photo you’ve posted are fine. There’s nothing wrong with them.

lovemyfreedom · 08/04/2025 19:11

Op lets forget about the scuff mark just get cheap shoes till she gets bigger.
However in the nices kindest way you could fix your nail polish sorry but i just cant un-see it.

bloodredfeaturewall · 08/04/2025 19:11

looks like you have a heathy, active toddler.
toddler shoes are supposed to be scuffed and trousers are supposed to have permanent grass stained knees.

RedToothBrush · 08/04/2025 19:13

You are a mug for buying Nikes for a toddler and then expecting a toddler not to behave like a toddler.

Buy suitable shoes for a toddler.

But they aren't broken? They are fine. What do you think nail polish would 'fix'?

Yeah I think she was scraping them on the steps or something :( and yeah they used to have addias gazelles from Vinted I managed to get matching for them on there cheap and they lasted really well they just grew out of them! I wanted to get the vans you posted but I didn’t manage to get them in the sale quick enough and they sold out so we bought them the Nikes as their birthday present as they were in the sale too, I wish we just bought some from Asda tbh haha

Mine wrecked a pair of shoes at nursery once in one of those little tykes cars. She dragged her toes while another child pushed the car.

Notjustabrunette · 08/04/2025 19:16

When my kids were toddlers they wore the Clark’s canvas trainers with the rubber bit on the toes. The rubber bit stopped the scuffing and the sole is better for toddler feet as is more flexible than Nike trainers.

Does your two year old not ride a bike or crawl on their knees to play in the dirt and sand or climb trees?

Some kids are placid and toddle about not wearing out shoes very much. My 3 year old destroys shoes and did at the age of 2 as well. Being constantly on a balance bike is the biggest culprit. That’s better now that he’s riding pedals at least.

Compared with the state of my child’s shoes, the OP’s look pristine after a month. My son’s would be like this an hour after first wearing them, but I only buy shoes with toe bumpers for that reason.

SnoozingFox · 08/04/2025 19:21

Lesson learned. Toddlers do not need designer trainers. Toddlers do not CARE about designer trainers, it's purely for the parents' vanity. Total waste of money.

Agree with everyone else, these cannot be fixed, but neither do they need to be thrown away.

He definitely isn't placid. We get him Nike because we've always found them to last the longest.

Leather shoes can take more wear & tear.

babytum · 08/04/2025 19:27

Sorry if this has already been mentioned. Nike do a 2 year guarantee. I’ve had runner replaced in the past but they were adult ones.

No harm in enquiring, worst they’ll say is no.
The runners are very cute and if they are marketing for the toddler age group then for the price of them I’d expect them to be able to take the wear and tear of a toddler.

Hope you get sorted

PS it’s not a sensitive image, I can’t see how to take that message off

Cute but $$$ ( here in Canada, anyway). Yesterday, was shopping for my 3 y/o and a pair were $75 on sale. 😱

I doubt the OP is in Canada (she mentioned Clarks and Schuh so probably UK). But Geox shoes are expensive in the UK too. They're worth it when they're on sale as they do last, they're sturdy and good quality.

If you want cheap shoes, Decathlon are decent.

Twinkletoes10 · 08/04/2025 19:29

Oh gosh I've bought these exact ones for my 18 month old in the next size 🙈 they look so lovely with the glitter through them. Obviously not durable though!

Mosaic123 · 08/04/2025 19:32

Could you paint a gold or pink glitter flower over the patches in nail varnish?

It would disguise them a bit.

clary · 08/04/2025 19:34

I agree with those who say you don’t need to fix them? They are perfectly wearable. Yes, the fabric or leather is scuffed off the toes, but they still look as tho they will be waterproof (hardly an issue just now anyway) and protect your DC's feet – which is what their purpose is.

As a side note, please don’t feel you have to dress them in matching clothes (which is kind of the subtext I am reading from your posts @Cherlyynn – apologies if I am wrong). I always understood this to be a bad idea with twins and a post from a twin on another thread underlined it – they really hated being referred to as “the twins” and fought to be seen as a separate person, so maybe dressing them to contrast is the first step? Just a thought.

Is he fast on a balance bike yet? Any shoes are trashed with a kid who’s balance bike obsessed. I don’t mind, a shoe that’s scuffed up and dirty is doing its job.

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 19:39

Appreciate this thankyou
