The fabric is showing through and these shoes are only a month old :( does anyone know how I could possibly fix them as I have twins and don’t fancy buying another pair of trainers I would rather try and fix
thanks in advance!!

Lol

Why is everyone talking about nail polish??

You do know they have this crazy invention, polish for shoes, called shoe polish.

That said though - this is caused by crawling, sitting on ride on toys like balance bikes/little scooty car things, or as my middle used to do, sticking his feet out of the buggy so they would drag on the ground/wheel!

I agree that solid toes are a good idea.

OP mentioned the nail polish as a repair remedy

oh I see, well I'm not bothered about scuffs and scrapes showing, I just want to make sure they stay waterproof. Hence my fix, and my modification to make them better.

I'm not new to shoes or 4 year olds btw 😂

The colour and finish is impractical for a young, playing child if you’re overly concerned about scuffs and scrapes showing.

Light coloured shoes, particularly with a thin pleather coating, are never going to be hard wearing on children. That’s just the reality of how they move.

Toddlers are better with start right or similar.

Thankyou so much for your message, I’m not grumbling I just want to save money and fix them 🤣 no point wasting money on other shoes although I will only save them now for occasions not every day use!!
I was thinking pink nail varnish to match so it hides it!!

Some matching paint, a small pot maybe

Mandoidi · 09/04/2025 19:21

There we go, not perfect but good enough to keep them going for a bit longer!

Just keep them as is. Toddlers grow out of shoes quickly.

ThejoyofNC · 08/04/2025 17:41

They're not brand new. Your child is a toddler, what do you expect? There's no way to fix them, they aren't just scuffed, the fabric is missing.

I say that as a person who happily dresses my toddler in expensive stuff, but don't grumble when it gets ruined.

Toddler shoes only last 3 months at best anyway they grow so fast

justanotherimperfectmum2025 · 09/04/2025 20:32

Timpsons? They are expensive though. Do they not have good old fashioned Cobblers anywhere anymore?

Thalia31 · 09/04/2025 21:04

Why would you buy a toddler Nikes?

Why not? They are pretty similar in price to Clarks, Startrite etc.

Same price for a poor quality shoe. Probably better to stick to brands that don’t disintegrate under normal toddler wear and tear.

I've had issues with the quality of Clarks before which is why I no longer use them, never had any issues with Nike though.

Think it depends on the child too, some are just harder on shoes no matter the brand.

I don’t rate Clarks. Bopy and Start Rite are good brands. Bopy are invincible.

andfinallyhereweare · 09/04/2025 21:26

If it helps going forward I’ve found addidas to be the most durable kid shoe..

We didn't get on with Startrite either. So far so good with Nike, Adidas and Vans.

kaela100 · 09/04/2025 21:39

If you bought them from Nike they have a 3 year guarantee. They'll examine the shoes and if they agree with you will give you a full refund. It's why we always buy from Nike directly

The idea of a 3 year guarantee for toddler shoes is ridiculous Grin
Are you sure it doesn't apply only to adult shoes?!
There's no way a toddler would wear the same shoes for even half that long before outgrowing them.

I’m sure these shoes are fine for kids who aren’t hugely active and on balance bikes or scooters every day. Friend of ours 3 year old is like that. His shoes are always pristine, it’s just the type of kid he is. Seeing the OP’s picture tells me that I wouldn’t waste my money on them for my 3 year old.

If I had already bought them though like the OP, I wouldn’t be bothering about a bit of a scuff. The shoes are fine to keep wearing. I just wouldn’t buy the brand again.

3 year guarantee? For a two year old’s shoes?

You’d think they’d make better quality shoes if they’re offering a 3 year guarantee for a toddler shoe.

tellmesomethingtrue · 09/04/2025 21:49

How much were these?

My 2 year old is at nursery every day, loves to ride his scooter etc and so far, those brands have held up well. I don't expect them to be pristine because toddler but I'd be disappointed with those marks after only a few months.

Which is why I don't buy Startrite and Clarks any more.
