Chew some strawberry gum, nice and soft, stick it over them clear nail varnish on top. Perfect

Can't help with these but my now 6 year old has always been very hard wearing on footwear. He's always worn adidas tensaur trainers including the all black ones to school. Never had a pair that has looked worn out before he's outgrown them.

Tensaurs are amazing, I always buy these for my 5 year old. They are the only shoe that doesn't get ruined. However he also had a pair of skechers that he loved. He thinks they are much faster, the old ones were in bits so I bought him a new pair. The rubbery top of them was coming away within hours!

Buying toddlers branded shoes is wasting money. They grow out of things so quickly.

Branded ones are actually not much dearer than primark or supermarket ones these days
Some of the unbranded ones are really clunky too so I'd rather pay a bit more for a lighter pair.

Fridgetapas · 08/04/2025 20:38

So odd people saying don’t buy expensive trainers when Nike are usually cheaper than geox, startrite, Clark’s…

Its not actually a terrible shape for a toddlers foot although annoyingly they get more of a pointed toe box in the bigger sizes, they don’t have a big heel rise and fairly flexible so not an awful choice. Especially for narrow feet.

Think you’ve been a bit unlucky OP but id probably just let them wear them a bit longer. Have you looked at bgreater trainers online? They are amazing and have lasted well for us.

Cross your fingers he doesn’t turn into mine and drag his toes along the ground to brake the scooter 🤦‍♀️

Its probably for the best toddlers grow out of their shoes in the blink of an eye, otherwise they would just rip them to shreds anyway!

He has small feet so we've been lucky enough to get good use out of trainers so far. I'm waiting for him to have a huge growth spurt when it comes to his feet. 😂

You are a mug for buying Nikes for a toddler and then expecting a toddler not to behave like a toddler.

Buy suitable shoes for a toddler.

This.

Depends on the child. My 2 year old has slow growing feet, he can wear trainers for ages right now.

TizerorFizz · 08/04/2025 20:42

@Sofiewoo They should not grow a while size in 2 months. Usually you buy with room to grow as well. Three pairs a year is the most anyone usually needs.

I didn’t say every 2 months.

I was going to say the same.

My 2 year olds dunks were £45. Compared to Geox, Startrite etc I wouldn't say it was super expensive at all.

ThisOldThang · 08/04/2025 20:51

My son's Clarke's shoes have never done that.

I usually get them for £25 in the regular sales.

And I’ve got Nikes for £20 in an outlet store. They are both really similar in price point.

Edited

But apparently not at all similar in terms of quality.

My youngest wears my eldest's old shoes and they're still going strong. They're a bit dirty/grubby, but that's mainly because I can't be arsed to clean them.

lessglittermoremud · 08/04/2025 21:11

Also worth looking at the Schu imperfect sections, ex display ones are listed on there etc I’ve brought many pairs of shoes on there and you can’t even notice that they aren’t perfect.

Literally got their feet measured in Clark’s and they were just getting annoyed as the girls wouldn’t sit still and I got their feet measured in SCHUH and the women couldn’t get a clear reading both places unhelpful

In fairness if they’re fidgety and restless then yes it’s hard for staff

Yourethebeerthief · 08/04/2025 21:27

Sofiewoo · 08/04/2025 20:44

I read it the same was as @TizerorFizzbecause you said surely it’s normal for young children’s feet to grow every couple of months. So every 2 months.

I’ve not found that. My son has always stayed in the same size of shoe for 6 months at a time at the very least. Of course, all kids are different in terms of growth spurts.

oobedobe · 08/04/2025 21:27

skimmed the messages, but why would you not return them, I think a lot of stores would agree that that is a lot of wear and tear for 4 weeks of use.

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 21:29

I have messaged Nike and they said to message the company I bought from so have messaged SCHUH just waiting on their response but hopefully they will be able to help

For an adult’s shoe yes, but kids literally crawl about on the ground.

It boggles my mind that there are people with kids so dainty on their feet that this seems like a lot of wear and tear. The only reason my 3 year old’s don’t have the same wear on them is all his shoes have toe bumpers. That’s why well designed toddler shoes do have toe bumpers.

Today alone my child was crawling on concrete to draw with chalk, crawling on a stoney, shell-covered beach, and scuffing his shoes on his bike. The kid needs steel toe caps!

unlike the other poster on your thread I think they are cute shoes and would have bought them 😄 My teenage boys live in Nikes as I find them really hard wearing. They get one pair every couple of years and many are still going strong. More importantly, if you are a Nike club member an duse student discount they are by far the cheapest way for me to buy trainers for them that they will wear and will last. But their feet arent growing much anynore.

In your shoes (sorry!) I would order some bright pink polish or shoe dye off amazon and go over them with that, it will hardly show after that. Does the twin have the same ones?

of course they are cute but not overly practical for a toddler!

My toddlers have always worn Clarks for everyday, sometimes a pair of vans or adidas trainers if we were going out to lunch and wanted them to look extra cute 🤣 But no way they would have worn them for everyday day! And wouldn’t expect them not to get ruined if they did…

Its impossible for a shoe to be “brand new” after one month of toddler wear…

I think it is ridiculous to try and get a refund after a month of toddler wear!! They literally drag their feet on the ground while playing… You’ll probably be successful though.

FlyHighWithTheRightAngles · 08/04/2025 22:12

I remember one of my children’s Clarks shoes looking similar to that after just one day at school nursery. It was more noticeable though as under the black material was white and they had worn through to that. Apparently they had to use them as brakes on the scooters and balance bikes. How else could they stop? It’s part of having children.
