Hi everyone I received a text this morning saying my daughter has been awarded from the 15th of March. Scan date is the 9th March and she's been awarded middle rate care.

Pk12 · 21/06/2023 13:03

Sweetsweetlike · 20/06/2023 22:57

If it's helpful my son got awarded with just his adhd assessment report as the additional evidence.
I later got a bit paranoid that I'd probably filled out the form a bit crappy, so right at the last minute I sent them a letter from the school senco, a letter from the educational psychologist, and his therapy appointment letters. But the extra evidence didn't even get there in time, and somehow we got lucky and still got awarded. So either my form was more acceptable than I thought or maybe they called some of the people (Gp, senco etc) I'd listed on the form

Hi sweetsweetlike I received my text today to say my daughter got middle rate care. Thank you

I actually thought I would get low rate mobility but I got middle rate care. So it was a suprise I'm not too sure how that works for universal credit though?. Did you get what you was hoping for?

Sweetsweetlike · 21/06/2023 14:13

@Pk12 oooh that's fab, so you got better than you expected🤗 I got the same but with Lrm aswell.
With UC you have 'report a change' in your circumstances via your online journal. In the 'children and other people who live with you' section you have to declare that your child is now receiving DLA, and then in the 'caring for someone' section you also declare that your now a carer. That will then get the disability and carer elements added on top of your UC

Oh thank you do you know what the disability element rate is for children for middle care. Thank you very much for the help

Sweetsweetlike · 21/06/2023 14:37

@Pk12 Im completely baffled about the disability premium types and amounts if I'm honest. I only submitted my changes to UC last week, so have not even seen a change in UC payment as of yet. When I spoke to UC they did tell me that disability/carer elements would all be back paid to the start of the DLA award though, but could take a month or so to be sorted out

Minnie83 · 21/06/2023 16:03

@Sweetsweetlike uc msgs for disabled element should be sent through payment option not change of circumstances as that triggers reassessment

Minnie83 · 21/06/2023 16:05

@Pk12 mrc for disabled element is 146 a month I think

Ooomgg I hope not as i went through the process step by step supported by an advisor over the phone. I'm going to call UC now to make sure nothing has been messed up

I changed my details on universal credit , fingers crossed someone will look at it for me I've seen a few people lately saying uc are taking ages.

@Minnie83 thank god UC is almost instant to get through to. Anyway I spoke to them and they said that the way the previous adviser guided me (through the 'report a change' route) is indeed the correct way to get the disability/carer elements added on and back paid. I think i caused confusion by initially saying 'journal' when I just meant 'UC online service'. It was the 'home' tab that gets you to the 'report a change' bit. X

Sweetsweetlike · 21/06/2023 17:10

@Pk12
Yeah I've been hearing that UC are taking forever with sorting things, although last week when I initially spoke to them they stated 'within 4 weeks' it would be sorted. I think all these DWP services are a mess though so who knows, although UC are way easier to get through to as I called them a short while ago and got though in less than 5 minutes.

Minnie83 · 21/06/2023 18:24

There full of shit honestly, they continue to give false information. Using payment option is fine

Minnie83 · 21/06/2023 18:30

My case manager once told me that anything to do with payments etc goes through that option and only use report a change, if you want the whole award looking at again. I don't know why he's told y different but if I'm awarded I will just be sending msg through payment option

Lianney84 · 21/06/2023 18:31

Hi for those wondering about UC and the element I get is £412 think it's gone up now though.. haven't actually looked. I was getting middle rate care and lrm and received that .
My son now get hrc and same mobility and its stayed the same element

Lianney84 · 21/06/2023 18:32

Anyone no if it goes up on UC if got 2 children receiving DLA.

Minnie83 · 21/06/2023 18:33

Yes it's per child, but 456 is for hrc only
