@Mumoftwins2007 at the time of her claim I literally had no evidence, since then alot has happened in an out of hospital, cahms more involved an her school is abit more supportive so I was able to send lots of evidence with MR

Minnie83 · 07/06/2023 13:27

@Mumoftwins2007 I also received copy of her neurodevelopment team referral today, so il keep that for, if I have to go through appeal

Hi everyone.

I recently asked for a reconsideration for my daughter who was awarded lrm. I believe she should be entitled to the care element of some sort.

My question is, does anyone know how long mandatory reconsideration takes?

She suffers severe mental health issues and although she has been assessed by CAMHS I don’t have any evidence of what we deal with at home as she refuses to have therapy, every day is a battle to try and keep her thinking positively. I have included in my MR that I am on constant suicide watch with her due to previous attempts and self harming. I have little evidence to support it due to dealing with it behind closed doors. I’m not sure we will get what she deserves due to lack of evidence. Has anyone been in this situation before?

Thankyou.

Hi @Mumoftwins2007

How about something like a daily diary for a week or so, documenting all the things that happen typically, and then sending that off as part of your evidence. I've seen a couple of people on this and another thread mention sending a diary as part of their evidence. I also seen people have said things like they use meditation apps as a daily care aid for managing mental health etc

@Sweetsweetlike on my reasons off them they put no evidence of a professional

Minnie83 · 07/06/2023 13:53

They made there decision based on what I said on the phone an what was on form even tho I provided contact details of the professionals involved, still declined ffs, I have provided the evidence now so we will see

@Minnie83 Ahhhh ok ok, I'm that case it's prob best for @Mumoftwins2007 to get on to Camhs about writing a supporting letter

Minnie83 · 07/06/2023 14:01

@Sweetsweetlike but u no what there like, what u suggested may work 🤔 they change there mind so much

Yeah that's a point😖🤦🏾‍♀️, there is no knowing with them or the mood of the decision maker. I guess it's just a case of flooding them with every single thing possible whether that be professional evidence or personal evidence

Minnie83 · 07/06/2023 14:08

@Sweetsweetlike in my personal situation personal evidence wouldn't of been enough evidence as they requested professional evidence but it depends what reasons they have gave @Mumoftwins2007 really

3Hearts1Beat · 07/06/2023 14:14

@Minnie83 @Sweetsweetlike I sent off additional information, you know like more evidence, which was a Sleep Diary and a new Speech and Language report that I’d just received and now reading what you guys have just said I’m starting to regret, as maybe I should’ve held onto that in case of refusal to award… It could’ve used it for MR if need be. 😩

Also rang in this morning and the lady I got on the phone was so incredibly rude that I really had to give it to her. Came off the phone feeling so rubbish and annoyed. I just hate how they make you feel like your an inconvenience to them 🙄🙄… But nothing new really, still saying “it’s a long wait, due large volumes of applications received etc…”

Minnie83 · 07/06/2023 14:16

@3Hearts1Beat aw babe yes some that u speak too are horrible iv had afew that have hung up on me

3Hearts1Beat · 07/06/2023 14:25

@Minnie83 NO WAY!!! Hanging up on you, the bloody cheek. Do you know I really do wonder sometimes, who on earth offered those call operators their jobs. If you’re not happy in your job role, it’s really… Leave and stop making it every one else’s problem… Anyways just keeping my fingers crossed. The waiting really is just killin me!! 😩

MammaLBlue · 07/06/2023 14:49

I’m on week 9 and just got a text saying ‘we are still looking at your claim’ .. does this mean it’s with the decision maker?

Hood1991 · 07/06/2023 15:01

@MammaLBlue all claims are taking 15 weeks I phoned today :)

MammaLBlue · 07/06/2023 15:17

6 weeks to go 😂! Thank you ☺️

I've had 3 of those texts so far starting from week 10. I'm on week 14 now. My cousins application is a bit behind me on week 13 and she has had no texts at all. Additionally when I called the DLA last week mine was not with a DM so I don't think those texts are really an indicator of anything

Soph2345 · 07/06/2023 16:54

Has anyone else child had seizures( tonic-clonic ones) and are on medication for it who's applied for dla, my child also has had a brain tumour removed in the last month which apparently is nothing do with why he has been having seizures. My dad told me to apply but I'm not 100% my child will receive it, he does need more care than other children his age. I have already applied I'm on week 13, I just wanted to see if I'm in the right for applying because I keep thinking maybe I shouldnt of.

MammaLBlue · 07/06/2023 16:55

Oh gosh certainly won’t get my hopes up then best of just waiting till I hit 15 weeks

Minnie83 · 07/06/2023 16:57

@3Hearts1Beat yeah I remember saying what u just said to my case manager on my universal credit journal, as I asked him a simple question and his response 3 days later, was I'm not responding to any of your messages anymore, lol I mean who do they think they are. They ment to be there to help

3Hearts1Beat · 07/06/2023 17:16

@Minnie83 What on earth!… 🤯 I’m sorry but what an absolute bunch of arrogant losers. It’s just not on. Yet if we owed the DWP money, I’m pretty sure they’d be hounding us with an even more disgusting attitude to say the very least. Honestly so frustrating… At this rate I’m just over all the different statements I’m given every time I call in. None of them are consistent with the information that they provide. It really hit n miss… If you’re lucky enough to get a Decision Maker who isn’t in a bad mood than I guess it’s just your lucky day really with that lot. 🙄

My sister’s friend has also just been declined for “insufficient evidence”… when she literally sent in everything that she had and it’s so obvious that they didn’t even bother to read her application let alone all the evidence that she had provided to them. She’s so upset, she found out this afternoon when she rang in. It’s so wrong what they’re putting people through.

Minnie83 · 07/06/2023 17:18

@3Hearts1Beat very true, it is pot luck which decision maker u get, but it shouldn't be like that

Minnie83 · 07/06/2023 18:27

@Jay53 just checkin how ur getting on

Minnie83 · 07/06/2023 23:56

@Soph2345 course u should apply if ur child needs more care, why are u thinking u shouldn't apply

Mummytofivegirls · 08/06/2023 11:18

@Soph2345 you have every right to apply for DLA if your child needs more care, don't ever think you shouldn't be entitled too, we all have applied for different reasons on here and for all different ages, I was very thankful my daughter got awarded HRC as I didn't think she would with her only been 3 and half. I have had my awarded for my daughter but I still come on and check this group to offer support or just incase anyone needs someone to talk too! X

Minnie83 · 08/06/2023 11:22

@Mummytofivegirls high five 👊🤗
