Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I sent in a Pediatrician letter in, her letters for speech and therapy and also her letter for awaiting appointment for MATT for her autism assessment, my health visitor is out next week so I might ask if she can write me up and letter and send it of. My daughter has to use a helmet for extreme head bashing of hard surfaces and is seriously delayed and on melatonin for sleep (don’t seem to work) so I think that’s why I was advised to apply

Minnie83 · 03/06/2023 10:12

@MammaLBlue yes defo get letter off her, with what extra are ur daughter needs

Hi all :), I’m new here! Just wondering how long it took people to get a decision. My scan date was 4th April so I know my longest wait is middle of July 😫! Currently on week 8! I got rejected the first time around because apparently I didn’t have ‘proof’ but I have this time around and they have asked for birth certificate for me and my daughter so I’m abit more hopefully but still nervous in case of another rejection 😩 x

I think the waiting time is a bit of a mystery🤣 I was initially told 12 weeks on my letter, but then when I called I was told it's 15 weeks due to the backlog. I called again yesterday and was told it's now 17 weeks. However my cousin also called yesterday and was told it's 14 weeks.
I'm on 13 weeks but I'm actually not wanting them to rush as the additional supporting info I sent in weeks ago has gone missing in the post, so I've had to resend it last week, and without that info I feel I may get a decline. So my fingers are just crossed that everything aligns with the post and timings etc.

They told me 15 weeks but hoping I get a decision earlier but I very much doubt it 😂!! Really hope they get your post on time so you don’t miss out 🫢

Mammato2senkiddos · 03/06/2023 18:40

They told me 15 weeks yesterday too so hoping just another couple of weeks. I will be on week 14 tomorrow so 🤞 not too much longer. Also I wanted to ask my son had his assessment for autism and we have the feedback meeting on 16th which is a given for diagnosis. will I need to send this info in too or would you wait and submit it with renewal

It's a tricky one because I heard that if you end up needing to do a MR then it's best to have new info/evidence to send alongside the points you are arguing. So it may be an option to hold your info back, But as I have not done one myself I don't really know if it's a suggestion that's fair to make, and I obviously haven't followed that advice myself, as I had extra info to send as the previous got lost in the post, and I literally only sent it last week and next weds I will be on week 14. So maybe just send a copy regardless as if they get the additional info before the DM gets to your application it could still be beneficial.

Minnie83 · 03/06/2023 23:08

@Mammato2senkiddos yes wait see your out come as ur so close now

Sweetsweetlike · 03/06/2023 23:13

Also yesterday when I called DLA, they told me that they were only at the point of scanning info received from the week ending May 12th. They also said that whilst phone lines are closed, they do have people working and scanning info during the weekend. They did advise me to call back on Monday at 9am (when there is apparently not much of a queue) and that a note could be put on my file to inform to DM when the time comes that I have sent additional info, so possibly it may encourage them not to make any decisions until the new info is scanned onto my application. But it seems to be different advice from different people whenever I've called so who knows🤷🏽‍♀️😫

Minnie83 · 03/06/2023 23:17

Haha the decision maker won't wait for additional evidence to be scanned, believe me lol they will make decision on what they have, that's why I would wait before sending

Minnie83 · 03/06/2023 23:21

@Mammato2senkiddos what's ur scan date

Mammato2senkiddos · 03/06/2023 23:27

@Minnie83 @Sweetsweetlike Thank you I thought as much so I think I will hang onto it and see if I need it later.
I though it was a tricky 1 too. He already has a cognitive assessment report and an ADHD report I sent off too so not sure I will need it just yet.

Minnie83 · 03/06/2023 23:29

@Mammato2senkiddos yeah doubt it would be scanned before decision is made, they literally chat shit anyway telling anyone different things

Sweetsweetlike · 03/06/2023 23:43

I know right😩 Any option that gives them the chance to eliminate or decline applications is most likely the option they will take

Minnie83 · 03/06/2023 23:47

@Sweetsweetlike correct, thy make up the rules as they go along, nightmare

Mammato2senkiddos · 04/06/2023 06:51

@Minnie83 my scan date was the 27th feb so hoping not too much longer

Minnie83 · 04/06/2023 08:11

@Mammato2senkiddos your very close then, maybe this week or next

Lollypops88 · 04/06/2023 12:19

So ladies reguardless of diagnosis the whole point in dla apparently is extra care they need at home !!! Even tho they challenge that and how are u supposed to give evidence of that unless other professionals support it
My son is 11 and i never new he was entilted till he got into a special provision school for seconadry this year i sent his ehcp and he has like a eye lady that comes to school to help with adaptions.
Im currently on week 19 as they have sent off tp the docotors a letter which took 9 days to get there a further 2 and half weeks to sign its now somewhere in the the depo waiting to be scanned on to the system, i now have to apply for my daughter who is 3 she is awaiting a asd appointment, and has just got into speicial provision nhrsery and prob will need special provision primary but im so nervous anout sending her stuff, shes non verbal so all i have to support is the speical provision report her independent care plan and the speech and language report 😨

3Hearts1Beat · 04/06/2023 13:11

@Lollypops88 hi hun,

Honestly, don’t stress DLA are such a nightmare as you’ve already gathered for yourself. Hopefully you get an answer for your Son’s claim real soon. With regards to your Daughter, honestly just send everything that you have and everything that you have detailed in the Form illustrating her extra needs should be enough. Also if they need any extra information than, they can make contact with the professionals just like they did with your Son.

You’ve got this girl, don’t stress. It’ll be fine. 🙂

Lollypops88 · 04/06/2023 13:15

3Hearts1Beat thank you this community on here is soo lovley u guys make all the difference just so u no ❤❤❤

Also....use the cerebra DLA guide to help you fill out your daughters form if you didn't already know about it when doing your sons

Minnie83 · 04/06/2023 13:45

@Lollypops88 they change there mind like the weather, depending on who looks at ur claim. In my case I got declined due to no diagnosis or evidence yet others have been awarded and had none of the above. Its ridiculous tbh

Lollypops88 · 04/06/2023 13:59

@Minnie83 this is my fear

Minnie83 · 04/06/2023 14:02

@Lollypops88 why they ask u to provide contact details is beyond me, as they don't use them. They could of easily got evidence for my daughter but no its easier to decline any award

Lollypops88 · 04/06/2023 14:05

@Minnie83 they have taken nearly a month to get just a doctors letter for my son i thinknur right its prob thw decision makers choice

Minnie83 · 04/06/2023 14:07

@Lollypops88 yep it's unfair really, but my advice to u is, if they ring u don't answer as they put me on the spot then declined her
