Just sent my (almost) 3 year olds forms off today. He's an amputee. Really hoping for MRC + HRM. Heard it's about a 16 week wait, already dreading it! Going to try and put it to the back of my mind now

Mum2b43 · 31/05/2023 12:32

I just took the plunge and called. My scan date is 8th March and she said to expect a result beginning to mid July!!!!

Absolute shambles. There still on mid feb

Annon12345 · 31/05/2023 16:07

Posted the form 27th Feb, don't know what scan date we got as dh got the text, anyone around there waiting or got answer yet?

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 31/05/2023 16:11

@Minnie83 for some reason my scan date was the 16th but they backdated from the 22nd Feb only a couple of days different so not that bad my daughter got MRC and LRM it's what I was hoping for... and no evidence?? That was their reasoning but they accept so many people for autism and adhd with no evidence? Not saying it's a bad thing because I know from experience not many schools or GPS help parents who have children with these conditions but if they can accept them then why not other people who have enough evidence from home? I think it all depends on the mood of the case manager and if they have any clue about the condition they are looking at xx

Mumof31995 · 31/05/2023 18:31

I’ve just checked my bank my scan date is 21st of feb & from what I can gather from the payment my son has been awarded high rate care & low rate mobility, I sent in his school SEN plan & a weekly dairy along with his referal acceptance letter to community peads x

Minnie83 · 31/05/2023 18:58

@Mumto2sengirlsxx they defo make the rules up as they go along. I was unfortunately 1 of the unlucky ones x

Minnie83 · 31/05/2023 19:01

@@Mumto2sengirlsxx also they are ment to backdate payment up until when you first rang to request the form x

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 31/05/2023 22:44

@Minnie83 they defo do! I have to send off for my youngest daughter the school want me too... for hypermobility joints and adhd referral but she needs physio for her joints etc so I hope they don't give me any issues with that... I rang twice and never received a form so had to print ours out so she wasn't on the system for a further backdate I was gonna call and ask why she wasn't backdated to the 16th but I can't be bothered for the sake of 5 days or so xx

baublewobble · 01/06/2023 00:34

I have just had a payment go in. Looks like my daughter has been awarded higher rate care and lower rate mobility. My scan date was the 22nd Feb, needed to be back by the 21st so wasn't backdated the 6 weeks. I am just glad she has been awarded and we can hopefully pay for some extra support she desperately needs! Hope you all get answers soon.

Anyone know when I could expect to receive a letter? Thanks

Mumof31995 · 01/06/2023 07:24

@baublewobble
im the same as you I have a payment pending but from what I can work out I’ve been backdated to the day I called up for the forms, I called them on Tuesday morning to see if there was an update and got a notification of money pending yesterday at 3pm he told me on the phone if he’s successful I would receive a letter with in a week of being awarded but it will probably be some time next year 🤣🤣

baublewobble · 01/06/2023 08:09

I haven't been backdated to when I called because I didn't send recorded delivery and apparently it didn't arrive until a day after it was meant to.
I'm assuming we cannot claim carer's allowance until we receive the letter?

Mumof31995 · 01/06/2023 10:20

I work part time & still have to attend the job centre 2 a month as my hours aren’t enough but I updated my work coach yesterday on my account that he received DLA yesterday and this morning all of my appts have been cancelled I don’t think I’ll be able to claim careers x

Minnie83 · 01/06/2023 10:49

@baublewobble I don't think you have to wait to receive letter, as long as u have all details you can start claim now

Minnie83 · 01/06/2023 11:04

@Mumof31995 without knowing ur situation and what u claim already no one can answer that x

Minnie83 · 01/06/2023 11:31

@Mumof31995 u claim universal? U should get disabled element back dated to start of dla award. Also u was awarded high rate care so ul receive around £343 amonth disabled child element I think it is

Mummytofivegirls · 01/06/2023 12:38

Sorry just wanted to jump on and wanted to say you don't have to wait for the letter to claim carers as long as you have the details and DLA reference number ( which will be on your letter they first with scan date etc) universal you can get DLA element which Is £456 ( my daughter gets HRC on DLA) and you can also get carers element which is £185 on UC. Hope this helps everyone also incase anyone didn't know UC do take around £330 a month carers allowance off you

Mummytofivegirls · 01/06/2023 12:42

I ment disability element not DLA element 🙈

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 01/06/2023 13:07

@baublewobble you don't need to wait for the letter as long as you have the reference number on your dla form that informed you of the scan date or sorry were still looking at your claim letter... I was awarded dla last week for My daughter and applied for the carers and it only took a week I received the backpay in my bank today xx

baublewobble · 01/06/2023 13:18

I don't get UC but have done entitled to and think we are entitled to it so will make the claim. I know the scan date is that all I need please? I obviously haven't been given what rates she actually got. I am assuming high care and low mobility but the pay doesn't work out for anything really :/

Mummytofivegirls · 01/06/2023 13:38

@baublewobble you might be better off giving DLA a call and asking rates etc, as I'm sure carers asked me and I've still not received the letter from DLA and my daughter was awarded 12th May but I called to find out rates etc

Minnie83 · 01/06/2023 13:42

I have literally just sent everything off😬 so we will see what there response will be 🤯

Mummytofivegirls · 01/06/2023 13:46

@Minnie83 fingers crossed for you 🤞

Minnie83 · 01/06/2023 13:47

@Mummy2fivegirls thanks babe I hope I don't have to fight anymore with them
