maybe i am shallow but my ambition is to be a yummy mummy!!

since day 1 i have showered and washed hair then blowed dried it and had make up on from day 1 too.

thankfully was back in jeans in 3 weeks though still trying to work out how to lose mummy tummy - am same weight as before pg but tummy looser.

wear jeans and high heels every day unless i am going for long walk then change to MBTs. always wear outfit i wouldnt be embarrassed inif someone calls to visit.

go to mother and baby group, baby swimming and baby massage. have lunch once a week with mummy friends and sometimes coffee on other days too.

finally drive an X5 though had that since before i got pg.

anyone beat that??

Night everyone it's been a bit of a laugh even if that wasn't the intention of the op!

OverMyDeadBody · 12/01/2008 21:54

lol at the goat!

I don't have a car, but I have a bike, the lights are attached with sellotape and it is very muddy and 15 years old, is that worse than an old banger?

My nails are short and scratched from climbing.

I Fing hate mother&baby groups

hair is washed once a week

mummy friends bore me as do coffee shops

But I have a flat tummy, did when I left hospital 5 years ago. It is still flat so na na nana na.

I'm glad I am not shallow

MummyAnnabella · 12/01/2008 21:55

not scared away i just went to finish my glass of wine. thought i may get 1 or 2 posts and cant believe how many cages i have rattled! why are people so proud of being "scummy" mummies - i just dont get that!!

i do these things to look and feel good and for ds and i to be happy. what is so wrong with that? thought i would post to see if any like minded people out there?!

to respond to a few posts:-

i do work but am enjoying my maternity before returning to my demanding job. when at work i have to dress well and look presentable so why should i change?

i dont go to starbucks at all just the local village coffee shops to support my local small businesses.

i do make all my own baby purees and only buy organic but i just want the best for ds - do most parents not??

as for my pram it is a jane and i highly reccommend it to you all.

anything i have missed????

Well, duh, of course, Annabella!

You have put your child's name down for his place at pre-school already, right? Surely you handled this before he was born!

And whatever are you doing making purees?

The properly BLW'd child doesn't need those!

Surely your maternity nurse or nanny knows this?!

MummyAnnabella · 12/01/2008 21:59

oh yes the MBTs - i know they are hideous but trying to tighten that tummy!! only ever wear for long wals round the forrest park would never wear to mother and baby group. why does the poster hate those groups?? i love mine.

Can I just ask, how come cod can ask which lipgloss we all like best, which hair mask etc, but Annabell pops up and gets a right royal roasting. No offence to cod btw, just wondering at the double standard.

onepieceoflollipop · 12/01/2008 21:59

Not having enough money to buy a big posh car doesn't make me scummy.

For some of us there are more important things in life than material possessions and going to the "right" activities.

I work too but in the NHS, not very glamorous I know but I get job satisfaction.

expatinscotland · 12/01/2008 22:00

MBTs look like old peoples' shoes.

And they're hell on anyone who has Achilles tendonitis.

Overmydead as a former climber myself, man, that tendonitis is a bitch!

Um, maid, this thread is a wind up.

ArmadilloDaMan · 12/01/2008 22:02

Competitiveness, boasting etc don't usually go down well on here.

It's just not British!

expatinscotland · 12/01/2008 22:02

Hiking is actually better for the bones, because the uneven terrain helps strengthen them even more than just walking or jogging - thereby decreasing the risk of osteoperosis.

Lace up those boots and go for a ramble!

LynetteScavo · 12/01/2008 22:02

MummyAnnabella, are you weaning already? How old is your LO? Will you return to work full time? If so you will , I'm sorry to say fall into the catagory of working mummy. To remain a yummy, you should have an undemanding part-time office job like me

and eyeliners and lipglosses are fun to talk about!

LynetteScavo · 12/01/2008 22:03

Maid, we're just glad that we can understand what Cod is talking about!

Maidamess · 12/01/2008 22:03

See, expat I've thought that about LOADS of threads in the past, only to discover they are completely valid! So I believe everyone now Is there a naive emotion ?

LynetteScavo · 12/01/2008 22:06

MummyAnnabella wen't to finish her glas of wine. Why can't she MN and drink wine simpoultaniously like the rest of us?

Can you tell I've been drinking?

MummyAnnabella · 12/01/2008 22:06

maid thank you for the support. you are totally right why should i get roasted when others post about fluffly topics and just get helpful or friendly replies. i think there are a lot of chips on shoulders!

it is not about money my X5 was 2nd hand and was not 56k as has been suggested. that was the only material possession i referred to and i go to the activities because ds and i enjoy them. i never called anyone scummy but there were a number of replies where people were boasting as to who was scummiest.

as for my job it can be glamorous but i also help people who are in what can be percieved as an underclass.

Hahahahaha MummyWhatsitbella you are so up your own arse - can't wait until little lord Fontlewotsit grows into a stroppy teenager with long hair and acne and mummy is still posing around the village in her granny MBTs thinking the flat tummy will come back one day. He won't have seen you for a fortnight as you were away getting liposuction, but my, he will be sooo proud that all his baording school mates want you!!!!!

that's nothing, lynette!

plenty of us have MN'd, drunk wine, AND breast-fed at the same time!

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 12/01/2008 22:08

I really don't think your child cares what you look like or what you wear/drive etc.

I thin kyou need some self esteem!

expatinscotland · 12/01/2008 22:09

'can't wait until little lord Fontlewotsit'

Ah, but from what I have experienced, those who are truly in the upper echelons never boast.

About, well, anything, because it's well, needless.

Quattrocento · 12/01/2008 22:09

I know a few yummy mummies. They are blissfully shallow and cannot add 2 and 2 together. No reason why anyone should be able to add 2 and 2 together of course, and I am not being judgmental in the slightest.

The other thing is that they all have pots of money. Skiing chalets, and/or apartments/villas in Barbados etc etc

It's not a lifestyle choice for I'd aim for but if it's what you want.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 12/01/2008 22:09

underclass????
