And how old are they?

Just curious

When I was young i had a bath once a week on a Sunday at school age until I was old enough to shower independently.

My 4 week old has had one proper bath but is wiped down with cotton wool as and when needed

How often are you bathing your kids?

When I had one child, usually nightly. Now I have 2, it's every other day... Unless they're filthy and it's unavoidable!

WouldYouIo · 16/03/2022 15:34

Every day - newborn ,1, 3 , 8 and I tell the teenagers to bath or shower daily and they do !

Eileen101 · 16/03/2022 15:34

Sorry, forgot the ages: 4 and nearly 2.

Age 4 and a 7 week old, bath every other day for both of them.
Hair wash once a week for 4 year old but whilst I was in hospital it was left 2 weeks and still looked perfect (it had been brushed!)
7 week old has dry skin so we've been told to push the bath back to every 3rd day and moisturise.

ParkheadParadise · 16/03/2022 15:43

Dd(6) has a bath every second night and hair washed.
She sometimes goes in the shower in the morning BUT I put a stop to that when she appeared downstairs with her long thick hair soaking wet 30 mins before we were due to leave for school 🙈

1 and 3 year old and they get bathed weekly on either Saturday or Sunday morning. In the summer this will increase because of playing outside more and wearing suncream.

bombombo · 16/03/2022 15:51

We bath our 4 month old every other day Smile

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 16/03/2022 15:53

2 year old. Every day

Caspianberg · 16/03/2022 15:53

Toddler - 2-3 times per week.
At 4 weeks old once per week as his skin peeled otherwise.
He obviously gets more if actually messy

butterflycatcher · 16/03/2022 15:54

For me it is just too much to fit into the evening after picking them up from nursery, letting them wind down and play together, have a snack/dinner and then bedtime stories, brush teeth and asleep by 7. I suppose it could replace the play time they have but the eldest loves getting in and having time to himself to play with his duplo and cars after the mayhem of nursery.

usernotfound0000 · 16/03/2022 15:56

7 and 3 and they bath or shower every other day. Hair washed once a week after swimming. Obviously if there is a reason to wash more often, they are. And I find it is more frequent over summer if they have been wearing suncream etc.

SW1amp · 16/03/2022 15:58

Every day since about a month old

It’s part of our bedtime routine and has also made travel and staying with family easier - once they’ve had a bath, they are in sleep mode and will go down easily

firstimemamma · 16/03/2022 15:59

3 and a half year old. Bathed 3 times a week - Sunday (hair wash night), Tues and Thurs. Works for us.

Barrawarra · 16/03/2022 15:59

3 and 6. 1-2 times per week.

Bornsloppy · 16/03/2022 15:59

During winter, not so much - when they're mucky so could be every day, could be every third or fourth day. Get a wash down with a flannel on non bath days.
Summer - every day, sun cream needs to be washed off, they get covered in dirt & sand, and all sweaty from running around in the heat.

As little babies I probably bathed DC1 too much and DC2 too little.

user123654 · 16/03/2022 16:00

2 month old every night before bed as part of her routine. 4 year old most evenings but sometimes she's just too tired.

You are right though most children used to get bathed once a week and didn't have a clean uniform every single day.

Why has it changed so much?

nearlyspringyay · 16/03/2022 16:03

Once a week when they were tiny - eczema was more controllable that way.

Every other day now they are older.

user1471523870 · 16/03/2022 16:04

3 year old, bathed every night after nursery and before bed. It would be more time consuming to clean his face, hands, feet, bottom than run a bath! Also, some dirt under his fingernails from playing with mud/colors would only lift by soaking.....

As a child I was only bathed once a week, normally a Saturday.

user1471523870 · 16/03/2022 16:05

When he was little up to one year old I only bathed it 2-3 times a week as there was really no need. He also had eczema.

Rewritethestars1 · 16/03/2022 16:07

8 and 4 year old one or twice per week. I Wadhurst their hair once or twice a month.

Rewritethestars1 · 16/03/2022 16:07

Wash their hair

monicagellerbing · 16/03/2022 16:09

Once or twice a month @Rewritethestars1 I'm sorry but that's just grim. Poor kids

Easymeasy · 16/03/2022 16:10

5 year old every night.
Absolutely disgusting people bathing their children once or twice a week.
No wonder so many children have dirty, waxy ears and long, dirty finger nails.
Some children actually smell and you guys as parents probably can't smell it.

Phos · 16/03/2022 16:13

My daughter is 5. She tends to have a bath every night as it is her routine. She might occasionally miss one night, for example if we've been out for tea and back a bit late then we don't stress.

We wash her hair once or twice a week.

fratellia · 16/03/2022 16:14

My dad said not only was it one or two Baths a week when he was a child but the same water was used for 4 children each taking a turn with the eldest going first Envy must have been pointless by the time it got to the youngest!
