@notpsychic yup mine didn't use a dummy either. Not interested at all!

Hopefully yours does the same.

SleepingStandingUp · 20/01/2022 18:35
@SleepingStandingUp - so much solidarity to you. You are truly amazing.

Can I ask- has anyone tried medications for silent reflux?
Mine were on gaviscon and omeprazole for it

I'm scared to drink wine as I get so lite sleep ill fall asleep in my dinner 😂😴

Lemongrass9 · 20/01/2022 18:58

@TreaclePlum I’ve just spent the day with a friend who has a formula fed 9month old and she isn’t getting anymore sleep than I am. I also have friends who breastfeed and their babies sleep through. I definitely think switching to formula is worth considering but I’m not sure it’s magic sleep fixer that some people suggest.

This is why I find it hard as I’ve been struggling with breastfeeding too @Kate105 I do think there are pros and cons to both feeding methods and although FF would solve some issues it wouldn’t fix everything. And would probably bring about challenges that we don’t currently have.

Not at all trying to start a debate about a very emotive subject - this is just what I’ve been thinking about after a tough BF weekend last week. Trying to think about it properly and not make a decision in the heat of a stressful moment!

Timeturnerplease · 20/01/2022 20:33

@TreaclePlum FF both DDs from the start and they have both been rubbish sleepers. DD2 truly takes the biscuit though - sleeps 6-9ish, then 90 minute stretches at a maximum. I normally crack around 2am, kick DP out and bring her into bed with me.

My children like to break the sleep stereotypes: FF babies sleep better…nope. If they self settle they’ll sleep through….nope. They start to consolidate naps after about 6 months….big fat nope, 28 minute naps for DD1 until she stopped napping at 18 months.

This is why I am fat and grey and survive a day’s teaching by drinking four cans of Pepsi Max.

Sneezymcsneezy · 20/01/2022 21:01

@SleepingStandingUp you're doing a tremendous job and sending lots of 🍰🍸🍷☕ your way. Are you getting any help at all?

SleepingStandingUp · 20/01/2022 21:08

Mine were formula fed, clearly didn't work 😂

Tbf if I wake up DH he will do his bit so I was up with them both at midnight then 2 am then 3 am Dt1 decided enough was enough and he'd just scream. Managed to keep him in our bed until 5 at which point I made DH take him downstairs 😴😴

notpsychic · 21/01/2022 01:47

@SleepingStandingUp did you find the meds made a difference? Sending so much strength your way

StickyStickyStickStickSong · 21/01/2022 07:37

My DS has silent reflux and has been on Omeprazole and carobel instant thickener since he was 5 weeks. It does help and I see a difference when he's outgrown his dosage and then I see a difference once he's put on higher dose

Frazzled37 · 21/01/2022 08:19

Can I join too please??! My LO is 12 weeks and EBF, and I think has been trying to kill me with sleep deprivation! 😂 a few weeks ago I thought I made progress with him doing a 3 (very occasionally 4) hour stretch usually, followed by 2ish, and then waking hourly after 2/3am. Still hell but better than hourly all night and not feeding on all of them...BUT then along came a feeding aversion so I started feeding him more at night as he'd let me, and now have a feed to sleep association to get rid of! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂😭 last couple of nights he's got better (only 3 wakes ups!!!) but we all know that can change!

Kate105 · 21/01/2022 08:37

This does make me feel a wee bit better to hear that FF babies aren't necessarily better sleepers... the FF babies around me seem to be sleeping through from day 1 almost and it makes me want to poke my eyes out 😂

We had a slightly better night last night bar a big party between 2 and 4am. What to do when you want to suck boob all night but don't want to actually have any milk come out and you definitely won't suck on that plastic dummy shit your mother keeps offering instead?! Asking for a friend... Answers on the back of a postcard please!

grey12 · 21/01/2022 08:57

Hi! Teething baby problems here Grin

Last night was ok, thank you paracetamol Blush

But my "once coffee a day" rule has been broken for long Sad

SleepingStandingUp · 21/01/2022 09:23
@SleepingStandingUp did you find the meds made a difference? Sending so much strength your way
I did, but you do need to be mindful of constipation with gaviscon.

LCF2021 · 21/01/2022 10:57

After 10 days of much improvement after sleep training last night DD was awake between 2-5am and then up for the day at 6am. I couldn’t get back to sleep at 5am so I’ve been awake since 2am and I’m exhausted. I think she may be teething, she’s doing the bulldog face as I call it and has had some horrible nappies so here’s hoping it’s short lived.

notpsychic · 21/01/2022 19:48

@LCF2021 sending coffee and love.

Can I ask how all your babies wake? Is it screaming? Crying? Alert and chatty? Mine wakes whinging as if something has woken her and she’d rather be asleep.

Sneezymcsneezy · 21/01/2022 22:48

@LCF2021 it must be something big to throw your baby off like that! Give paracemtol/ibuprofen and hopefully it'll help!

SleepingStandingUp · 22/01/2022 00:12

@notpsychicmy toddlers wake screaming as though their brother has just stolen their favourite dream toy. They've also always been sleep screamers so will scream and roll over and shit up so sometimes it's a judgement call to run in quickly before they wake their twin or to lea e them and not disturb them further.
Someone's just does sleep screaming
Quiet for now but it foretells a disturbed nighg

SleepingStandingUp · 22/01/2022 03:16

Wl that was a fun hour I🙄. Too much to hope they'll sleep til 6??

Lemongrass9 · 22/01/2022 03:25

We’ve just had an hour of awake too @SleepingStandingUp 🙄 haven’t put DS down yet but he is asleep in my arms.
Prior to this we’ve had 2 hourly wake ups all night so I’m expecting to be up at least once more before getting up for day.

Hope everyone’s night has gone well or if not that you at least get a nice coffee tomorrow x

Lemongrass9 · 22/01/2022 03:38

And we’re wide awake again 🤦‍♀️

SleepingStandingUp · 22/01/2022 06:41

Been awake with them since 5.30, then big one gets in our bed as I'm try and jg to settle twin 1, he's red hot (PCR'd hum yesterday). DH took them down at 6 and I'm failing to go back to sleep!!

Kate105 · 22/01/2022 08:32

Wee one slept on me last night so we both got some sleep, then comfort sucked on and off from 3am to 5:30 when H took him. I hate it I hate it I hate it and I really need it to stop!

SleepingStandingUp · 22/01/2022 11:41

It's OK to stop Kate if it isn't working for you. Your needs are important too xx

Sneezymcsneezy · 22/01/2022 11:43

@Kate105 as @SleepingStandingUp said, it's ok to stop. I went through a phase of absolutely hating it too, and was so touched and grossed out, it was weird. I just wanted him to stop. He did eventually stop being on me all night and it was because of teeth but it was luckily short lived for me (2 weeks). Sleep still shit but not relentlessly every hour.
