Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

@Thighdentitycrisis

Sorry but Quinn sounds like quim and the other one just sounds ridiculous
Thanks for your feedback. We weren't looking for/don't want feedback on Quinn and have chosen Audrey for twin B. Thanks!

Why not go for Lottie then?

It actually made me laugh out loud, sorry! Not convinced this isn’t a wind up...

I think it’s really unfair to give one twin a family name and the other any old name with no significance.

That is a ridiculous name.

You've decided on Quinn and Audrey. Great.

However, as I believe a pp has also pointed out, it would be a bit odd to name your 4th child Quinn, as opposed to the 5th.

If I were you I would name twin A Audrey and twin B Quinn.

merryhouse · 18/03/2021 19:51

Isn't Pippilotta the given name of Pippi Longstocking?

You could call her Pippin Galadriel Moonchild Grin

I think Philippa goes quite well with Arabella, Felix and Hugo. Quin is definitely the odd one out. Is Quin a boy or a girl?

Lionel, Arthur, Jasper, Silas, Oscar, Lucas
Got some of these from this list I suggest you don't go for Oswald or Adolphus, or for Newdigate Henry Knightly Grin

Op has already.said that's her own name, so doesn't want to use it.

She will be Quinn the twin , but then I don’t like surnames used as Christian names generally.
I agree with pps that Pippilotta is an invented name and a bit bonkers, and neither name works with all your other names which are similar in ethos.

Reminds me of Chickaletta from Paw Patrol 🐾

Why not go for Lottie then?
Because that's my name, as I've said a handful of times on here already :)

I agree with pp that Philippa works really well with your other childrens’ names.

I'm surprised to see so many people saying they like Audrey - to me it goes with names like Joan, Brenda and Maureen - old lady names, but not quite old enough to have come back into fashion.

Quinn is an Irish name which has nothing to do with the number 5.

Suggestion for classic names:

Vera
Margot
Martha
Gwen

It's what I call my dog who's name is Pip 😂👀

Thanks! We disagree. I'm the only child with a family name out of me and my three sisters and it has never caused any issues so we're going to stick with the names we've picked; Audrey & Quinn. We love them and that's all that counts :)

Was just going to suggest Astrid, since your mum is Stella and it links to Pippi Longstocking, but I see you've decided

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 18/03/2021 19:55

Glad you have given up on Pippalotta! I think you've decided on Audrey with Quinn now, but just in case I thought I'd put a late case for Josephine (nn Pip if you want, although I prefer Sephie/Effie personally).

Audrey sounds good with Quinn but having the same initial as her sister Arabella could be a pain for them. Ophelia is wonderful with Arabella but sounds very girly compared to Quinn.

Josephine is a perfect choice - 3 syllables so a nice bridge between Arabella and all her 2 syllable brothers and sisters names, and neither very feminine like Arabella or unisex like Quinn, but a bit of both. It's fits perfectly in the sibset imo.

YouokHun · 18/03/2021 19:55

Pippalotta sounds like some obscure attractively packaged ingredient purchased from an Italian deli that is never used because one has no idea what it is. Don’t name her Pippalotta, she will never forgive you.

I’m not a fan of diminutives in place of the full name generally but in this case go with Pippa! You’ve got some lovely names for your children and some great suggestions from others too.

I must say I also misread Quinn as Quim as I’d left my glasses upstairs. I’ve recovered my equilibrium now and realised it’s my sight that’s the issue not your hormones @twinmama2021! Obviously Quim would be very tricky to carry off, almost as tricky as Pippalotta Wink

Disagree with this... Audrey goes with Joan (as well as Margot, Edith, Veronica) as a glam 1940s name. Brenda and Maureen are slightly later and much more dowdy.
LadyLolaRuben · 18/03/2021 19:56

Eloise is lovely and Ophelia is too - if you would like a name to shorten to Pip. I think these names go nicely with those of your other children

Roszie · 18/03/2021 19:56

Can't believe you're not going with Harley for twin B Wink

I agree. My Nan lives in a sheltered accomodation and has a neighbour Audrey. I couldn't imagine calling a baby it it's horrendous 🤣
