Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

Pippalotta made me laugh out loud!
What about Loretta? I like Audrey the best. I always think Audra has a bit more of a modern sound to it though.

Im lolling at Pippalotta.

Ophelia is nice I think - Pippa is an alright nickname I suppose although it doesnt immediately spring to mind.

Yes, it's a ridiculous name.

So is Quinn. (You know that she'll get called "quim" a lot, don't you?)

Are you Mrs Jacob Rees-Mogg by any chance?

Arabella is a great name. Grin

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 18/03/2021 19:58

What about Aubrey? Its a bit more modern than Audrey.

LeopardPrintKnickers · 18/03/2021 19:59

Twinmama you have the patience of a saint Smile

Love the names you've chosen and your gracious way of saying 'thanks but we love it now shut the f*ck up about Quinn'!

ArabellaScott · 18/03/2021 19:59

I like Pipilotti, as in Pipilotti Rist.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/03/2021 19:59

I like Audrey - I always think of Audrey fforbes-Hamilton Hepburn

Lille4 · 18/03/2021 19:59

Haha yes it cracked me up. Ophelia is a gorgeous name though 😊

Why on earth would anyone call her Quim? 😂😂😂

I must say, OP, I love how chipper you are against this onslaught of negativity! Good on you!

Did occur to me that I wonder if you've thought of initials. I'm a bit funny about names and I really don't want anyone in our little family to have the same first initial. E.g. Arabella and Audrey Green both being A. Green. It's a small thing, but I just feel like it might be annoying getting post for A. Green and so on.

There are so many wonderful names out there that I don't think it will be too hard for us to choose ones with different initials. (Unless I have 24 children + the two of us... in which case I'll have to rethink my policy!!!) But then again, some people mind these things and some people don't.

Cleverpolly3 · 18/03/2021 20:00

Quinn and Audrey don’t fit together at all IMO.
Neither do they go with their eldest siblings names

CambsAlways · 18/03/2021 20:00

Pipalotta good grief

bellie710 · 18/03/2021 20:00

I know 2 Quinn's and they are both men never heard it used for a girl before? My mum has a boys name and she hates it and it isn't something like Charlie which can be unisex.

I have a friend who has an Arabella her other 2 girls are Phillipa and Arianne.

I know Quinn is non negotiable but when I say the name it sounds like Pippa Quinn, I can't get past Quinn being a boys name or a surname but baby names are a very personal thing so good luck with whatever you choose.

nevertrustaherdofcows · 18/03/2021 20:00

Piper? Pepper? Xanthippe? Apple?

All could be Pippa for short (especially Apple!)

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 18/03/2021 20:00

I'm American. I work in a school so see lots of kids with lots of names. Quinn is not considered "girly" it is definitely considered "unisex". Yes its higher on the chart for girls then boys, but for sure it is not "girly" at all. Also, you say it's both your grandmothers names. Do you mean their last name? Two female Quinns old enough to be your grandmothers would be very unusual.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 18/03/2021 20:02

I have an Ophelia and I can't say I've ever thought to shorten her name to Pippa. It's not the most obvious abbreviation/nickname. We call her Fifi as a nickname but use her full name a lot too. It sounded a mouthful when she was tiny but now she's 3 it really suits her. I think Quinn and Ophelia (just Ophelia not Pippa) sound great together and Ophelia goes well with your other names. We also have a Theodora but strongly considered Arabella (and Allegra)

Aubrey1981 · 18/03/2021 20:02

@twinmama2021 I have a Quinn (boy) Arabelle and Aubrey (girl) ! We have similar choices.

ivykaty44 · 18/03/2021 20:02

just use Pippa

but not pippalotta

or use Pippa as a nickname if you want

lavenderlove · 18/03/2021 20:03

Sorry yes it's a bit far.. I know a Penelope nn Pip so I'm sure Pippa would be work for that too? I also think that goes lovely with your other names Smile

MrMucker · 18/03/2021 20:04

I'm in the US my closest friend's daughter is a twin called Quinn - I've always loved the name.

Audrey and Quinn sound lovely together. I prefer that to Pippa and Quinn.

Good luck - you're going to be busy with 5!

Spudbyanyothername · 18/03/2021 20:05

Audrey and Quinn lovely names.

For what it’s worth (not much!) I love Ophelia as a name too.

Congrats

nosyupnorth · 18/03/2021 20:05

@MirandaMarple

Too sausage-ey. I like Phillipa, and if she'll always be called Pippa what's the point in a full name?
I knew it reminded me of something! sausage-ey indeed
TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 18/03/2021 20:05

Probably been said a dozen times already but I've been busy cleaning out the gerbils, so I'm not up to date but what about...

Pippacalifragilisticexpialidocious with nn of Pippa?

And, bonus point, you won't need a middle name!
