Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

Unfortunately lots of people don’t read all the messages from the OP so you’ll be constantly telling people the same thing.

Glad you went with Audrey. It’s a nice name.

PantherPantherus · 18/03/2021 19:41

Oh...my mother was called Audrey. But she was Swiss.

Catlover77 · 18/03/2021 19:41

Eloise is the nicest name

OP! You have given me my first laugh all day, but you CANNOT be serious.

Pippa short for Josephine or Ophelia is fine, I know a Penelope who is Pippa, Phyllida or Phyllis or Philomena would all work - Persephone or Perdita would if you wanted them to. Pippa isn’t ideal as a nn I agree as it’s quite nick-namey generally and especially compared to your other names.

Not sure about Quinn either since we’re here - it’s an odd name for a girl, and sounds like quim. Could it be a second name, but give her something more conventional as a first?

The names of your other children are lovely, and Pippa is a great nn.

In the US, where we're from and where the kids will grow up, it's a girls name.

My friend Pip is a Piper.

Quinn and Piper might work and more unusual than Pippa. If you’re going to give one a name that might be dodgy you can’t call the other one something dull surely.

ODFOx · 18/03/2021 19:42

When you mentioned pippi Longstocking I thought of Astrid, which is a great name and goes nicely with Belle and Quinn.

Will Quinn be the youngest of the five?

PantherPantherus · 18/03/2021 19:42

Glad you chose Audrey. Your daughter will love it as she grows up.

RandomGrammarPun · 18/03/2021 19:44

Love how people haven't read the full thread (again)...

Quinn is non-negotiable for OP. Doesn't matter if we don't like it.

She's now also decided on Audrey...

(But now someone has suggested Edie and I love it - or Edith - even more! An E name, so not a problem with 2 As, goes perfectly with the vintage vibe, and I like that it's short, like Quinn. Choose Edie, OP Grin)

GettingItOutThere · 18/03/2021 19:44

pippalotta is bloody rediculous - sorry OP

your other childrens names are beautiful, please dont saddle your poor twin B with pippalotta!

Eloise seems to flow with your other name styles the most?

cremeauchouchou · 18/03/2021 19:44

I think you should call the other twin Zelie.
But where I live Audrey is a very, very common name, so it really doesn't have a wow factor for me.

laidbacklife · 18/03/2021 19:44

Ophelia - gorgeous name. And Pippa for short is fine, if you insist.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 18/03/2021 19:44

Quinn is gorgeous (I know you don't want feedback but since it's positive...)

Personally I'm not keen on Pippa, I like Audrey but not sure it fits with the other names. How about Charlotte - nn lottie?

Loopyloututu2 · 18/03/2021 19:44

This cannot be serious! Pippalotta!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

twinmama2021 · 18/03/2021 19:44

@MrMucker

Let's not forget how any girl with a name beginning with Pippi is obliged to tolerate smirks at customs when returning from any of the seventy six thousand countries on the planet where Pippi means "Piss". That notwithstanding yeah, gorgeous name, what could go wrong?
We've decided on Audrey but just wanted to say that we don't pick our kids names with customs agents opinions in mind! We pick their names because we love them, not because others do :)

Q&A?

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 18/03/2021 19:45

Oh sorry - fully guilty of NRTFT... Audrey is gorgeous. Congrats on your girls and their lovely new names!

VaVaGloom · 18/03/2021 19:46

PippaWotta?!

SarahBellam · 18/03/2021 19:46

I know you’ve settled on Audrey, but if you were looking for something vintage/traditional/slightly off the beaten track names like Martha, Edith, Iris and Violet are lovely.

We've settled on Audrey & Quinn, both of which are top 100 names in the US, where the kids will be raised, so not dodgy, nor dull.

I'm Lottie! So that's off the cards for us haha

Sorry but Quinn sounds like quim and the other one just sounds ridiculous

We have a dog called Iris and my DH vetoed Martha unfortunately :((

I know you said you'd picked Audrey, but if you do want to reconsider... I also adore Pippa but would also rather have it as a nickname than on the birth certificate. If we have another, we're considering Perpetua, nicknamed Pippa. I think Perpetua would go wonderfully with your older children's names.

I love Piper. Always have

Quinn is wonderful OP, it was on our long-list for DD due in spring. Love all of your DC’s names!
