Wouldn't we all be a nightmare on a rare ladies only night out?!

i've got a grobag from asda too actually! mil bought it for us, but has no tog rating....does yours? shall have to go and check asda out again methinks.

SusiS · 26/09/2004 08:00

good morning everybody! hopy you all had a good night? - DS went down yesterday 7pm and for once I woke him 10.30 for his nightbottle (poor boy just couldn't stay up any longer yesterday ) - I hoped that would make a difference him waking up 2 for food. well, he woke me 1.30 but wasn't hungry, was happy with his dummy and went back to sleep. then at 3.30 he was hungry - and 6 he decided he had enough sleep. normally he goes back to sleep again for another hour or so. but he started babbling and squeeking and laughing ... so i took him to bed with me - normally (again) he goes back to sleep grrr well, 7.00 we got up in the end and morningbottle was due! - but now he is lying on his mat and giggling and squeeking away - after reading all yr msgs i remembered i got a grobag too - used it last night and he seemed very happy in it! - but i realise one is not enough ... asda it is - agreed! isn't it just weird how quickly you forget how small they were once??? every time i go to see the hv i am surprised again when i see all those newborns - georgina: what are you writing??

GeorginaA · 26/09/2004 08:33

I'm not writing anything at the moment, that's the problem! Well, other than a weblog (online diary thing). Last November I participated in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) which is where you write a 50,000 word novel in just 30 days which I managed and the result wasn't dire, so I'd like to try my hand at writing one "properly" - but just don't have the 3+ hours a day to devote to it while the kids are little.

I am starting a City & Guilds Basic Photography correspondence course though soon. I must be mad!

dd didnt have a good night again. lack of babyrice? i know you're not supposed to link the food/sleep but coincidence?

kbaby · 26/09/2004 13:21

im impressed georginaa. Also did the cushki thing work again, id do anything to get dd to sleep longer than 30 mins in her cot.

DP and I agreed that wed try next year as it would be easier to get it all out of the way also 2 seems like a nice age gap to have. Theres 2 1/2 yrs between my brother and I and we get along really well. Plus I keep looking at pregnant women in Asda and I want to be pregnant again. Ive been to see lots of fortune tellers over the years and they have all said I have 1 girl and twin boys. I hope that isnt true as I dont think I could cope with that.
Mum had dd last night. She said she was ok fed 12,6.
DD can hold her head up while on her belly so I hope your right and I dont have too much to worry about. Fridays night she slept on her bellyShes rolling onto her belly all the time now. Every 5 mins or so when im cooking dinner I hear a cry and go in the living room turn her back over where 5 mins after she promptly does it again.

kbaby · 26/09/2004 13:22

egypt how often did she wake?

GeorginaA · 26/09/2004 13:59

Not sure if the cuski thing did or didn't work to be honest. He woke at around 1.30, cried (not hard, but with the potential to work upwards) for about 5 mins so I went upstairs ready to try and soothe him. Got to just outside his door and he went quiet and he's still sleeping!

Not complaining

GeorginaA · 26/09/2004 14:31

Hmm... ds2 STILL asleep.

Now do I wake him? Gawd, I'm never happy am I... first really extended daytime sleep he's had in ages and now I'm worried he's sleeping too long...

SusiS · 26/09/2004 15:05

know that feeling georgina! morning nap is sometimes even up to 3 hours!!! hard to resist to wake him - photography course!! me impressed ... i should think of something myself! - kbaby: dp asked me the other day about d2, we thought about trying again when d1 is about 18months

Egypt · 26/09/2004 15:09

georgina dd has slept lots in the day the last few days. strange. last night she woke at 10, 12, 3.30, 5, 7...i think. i know i got up 3 times.

oh well. would like to have about a 2 year age gap between them i guess. def wont be starting when dd is 9months though! even if we wait til she's a year, i may not fall straight away....or could manufacture it that way ! no, thats cruel! mmmmmmmmmm

Bozza · 26/09/2004 15:16

Asda bags are 2.5 tog.

GeorginaA · 26/09/2004 15:16

He got up at 14:40 - a record long sleep! He was all cuddly with his cuski too, very cute. However, he was a bit warm when I got him up. Don't think he was overwarm, but it's hard to tell. Got a grobag of 2.5 tog on him at the moment, because it is a lot cooler now, but wondering if that's too much in the day.

Then again, he slept.

Dilemma!

Egypt · 26/09/2004 15:19

oh great, 2.5 tog is good bozza.
yeah, i put her a 1.0tog on to sleep today. she was fine, but did wake after only 45 mins. i think 2.5 is maybe too warm in the day at the mo. but only saying that as she is dressed too. should be fine if still in the babygro.
mil isnt coming today afterall, as she has a cold. thats good, wouldnt want dd getting another one.

SusiS · 26/09/2004 21:11

don't you just love it when everything goes to plan? bottle for Lucas at 3pm - playtime till 5pm then fruits (had to sneak in 2oz milk or he wouldn't settle) - had trouble to keep him awake till 6pm - bathtime - 20min singing and yawn, eyerub and i had to run to get him into his cot awake grin! - gonna wake him at 10ish - see if that makes any difference! - had a very easy day. he is ever so good and a real sunshine. lately he's "singing"; sounds really cute - and he is starting to discover anything close enough to touch smile - he's holding on to things quite well now and yeah guess where everything ends up!!

kbaby · 26/09/2004 21:31

tell me about it. Because dps home ive been able to let dd sleep on my lap(normally i have to disturb her to get the door/phone etc) she slept for 2 hrs from 2-4 and now this evening I took her upstairs fed her, she sat on my lap and talked for a bit and then snuggled her head in and went to sleep. I didnt need to rock her and we didnt have any crying. Shes been asleep now since 8pm and shes not woken as she has previous nights. I think she must be overtired which is why she wakes so often early night. The only thing I need to crack now is how to get her to sleep for longer than 30 mins in her cot so I dont need to hold her for her to sleep. During the week were out or im cleaning etc and dont have the time to sit and hold her for 2hrs. Suggestions welcome!

SusiS · 26/09/2004 21:45

nice when you get some time to yourself. if only for housework pfff - well, maybe put a shirt with her into the cot, let her hold it, something that's got your smell on it? - and when DS wakes sometimes it's enough just to shhhhh him and stroke his head. sometimes dummy helps too.

Egypt · 27/09/2004 08:11

do you mean in the day kbaby? or will she wake after 30 mins in her cot at bedtime sometimes too? (take it you cant out her to bed drowsy/awake?) does she have a dummy or suck her thumb? do you have blackout blinds? mine still let the daylight in a bit so at least she can tell its day nap, but is dark enough to sleep. is she warm enough daytime? i have to bf dd to sleep, then when i put her down she stirs and grumbles for a second then puts her thumb in and goes to sleep. most times! before that i had to give her my little finger to suck as she would gag on a dummy and spit it out. some babies are just sucky. have now almost got to the stage where i just put her down at 10am for a nap and she goes to sleep. no bf. this has worked the last 2 days, and i'm sure never will again, but i think it's because she has learned to really associate the cot and darkness with sleep. if i hadnt have bf her to sleep for all this time to start with i dont think we'd have got to this stage, because there was just no way she'd lie there and fall off on her own. now she does (touch wood). can you find the time when she is absolutely knackered in the day, when you know that if you bf her she will fall asleep? then do that, put her in her cot and walk out? if she doesnt settle after a bit put her back on the breast? she should fall asleep very quickly again. repeat and repeat. she'll learn that she can have some mummy comfort, but then it's time to sleep in the cot.

or i could just be talking a load of balls
hth!?

spots · 27/09/2004 08:46

Hi everyone. back for keeps now, phew...boy, it's cold in Scotland!DD is extra glad to be home . We tried her in her own cot last night, away from us, as she's really wriggly and rolly and getting a bit dangerous in the pram... It was good and she only woke twice but that's prob. because we got back late and shewas knackered.

Is there a weaning thread on the go that I ought to look at? Egypt, you referred to one...?

SusiS · 27/09/2004 08:47

had a bad night - DS went to bed 7pm, i woke and fed him 10pm and hoped he'd last longer for once. hope again! woke up at 1, but i could settle him without feeding - then again 3.30 (bottle) again 4.30 (had a bad dream i think) again 5.30 (just lost his dummy) 6.30 i could hear him cooing and laughing - so i took him into my bed (hard to get up straight away ) - we always have some giggle time in bed! - 10min later he was gone again (hooray) well, for 20 min! and then we got up! morning bottle, played a little bit and guess what? he is tired again grmpf so gone to bed again. well, now i can have some breakfast in peace

spots · 27/09/2004 08:52

found it!

Egypt · 27/09/2004 08:52

susi you must be knackered!

kbaby, on second thoughts, dont get her used to bf to get to sleep esp if you are going back to work soon! sorry, talking out of my bum again. and i guess your prob is getting her to stay asleep, not get to sleep. sorry, my advice is useless

spots, i started a thread, unsure whether to start dd on hv's advice and there is another going about aswell.......

mine

making it to 6 months without solids

Egypt · 27/09/2004 08:53

oops, too late

SusiS · 27/09/2004 09:19

yep i think i am - you just don't think about it anymore. but i've been sitting here for about 30min and can't get my brain into gear! pfff, i guess i should get my some breakfast and another cup of tea - maybe that helps

GeorginaA · 27/09/2004 09:41

Feeling gross today. Started yesterday where bizarrely I had itchy ears - very odd. Anyway, in the evening it got unbearable and I ended up putting germolene on them to numb them so I wouldn't rip them off my head. this morning I have a rash all over my face, neck and part way down my chest and I'm having to sit on my hands to stop scratching.

No idea what it is... doctor's appointment due in 40 minutes. Gut feeling is that it's something allergy related (although god knows what - not used/eaten anything new) as I was also a bit asthma-y. Actually, I don't care what it is as long as the doctor can MAKE THE ITCHING STOP!!!!

scream

SusiS · 27/09/2004 09:48

awww that sounds horrible georgina! hope you get it sorted quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
