Wouldn't we all be a nightmare on a rare ladies only night out?!

I ballsed it up didn't I? knew I couldn't be trusted - how do I get this deleted?

OP posts:
Judd · 23/09/2004 18:18

Don't bother getting it deleted!
We're here now so let's just keep on with it. I like to think nobody but us...about 10? - ever reads this thread, so it can be our little secret! (when GeorginaA and Spots return, they'll think they've missed out on a whole novel's worth of conversation!)
Egypt - I've got AK's complete meal planner as well. I've found from flicking through other people's books that many of the recipes crop up in all of hers anyway so it doesn't really matter which you get. Whatever you decide to do will be fine: re weaning. Like Twiglett, I weaned DD at 4 months and have always been happy with the decision I made.

libb · 23/09/2004 18:22

Oh, I have contacted Mumsnet (I hope, unless I got that wrong too) - obviously I need all the help I can get, and then some.

Well its bathtime now, so I'll be off. I'll pop back later and see where we're up to.
Sort it out Libb

Egypt · 23/09/2004 19:36

oh libb, you little sweetie...i think we'll cope with a part 5. let's just confuse a few people when they look for the part 4

thanks for that judd. i do feel guilty and i know more people will tell me not to start, as i've started another thread now anyway. was chatting to my mum and she said i was 9 weeks when she started me! bloody 'ell! and i'm alright [deranged smilie]

we'll see how it goes. she's gone to sleep much better tonight anyway. at the mo she's just having a tiny taster anyway. may just keep it that way for a few weeks instead of introducing the purees.

PicadillyCircus · 23/09/2004 19:39

PicadillyCircus · 23/09/2004 19:57

Serves me right for being nosey

SusiS · 23/09/2004 20:00

DS is sound asleep and I put DP on babywatch!

egypt: I wouldn't worry. Firstly go with your instincts. If you think she is happy with bf then do just that. If you think she needs more just go for it. I had to start weaning week 15. He just didn't get enough and was always crying for more and put weight on and on and on ...
I started with babyrice 1 spoon a day (11am bottle) but oh well, he didn't like that at all - so I gave him some veggies mixed with babyrice (bad me ) and he really loved that - started 2-3spoons a day for about 1 week, then another flavour and a week later I gave him fruitpurees (again with rice ) with his 5pm bottle - he loved that one!!! and he ate almost a little glass each meal. but oh well, since last week he's gone off and I stopped for 2 days. Today he got 1 spoonfull again - he is still not very keen on it. But I keep trying - what he does like though are those little babyjoghurts (glutenfree) - that went down with no problem today

twiglett: hello and welcome back at you - I think libb skiped no.4 on purpose - it's just her personal touch - how many kids have you got? and what ages?

Egypt · 23/09/2004 20:00

oh no twiglett - i dont have asthma - well only a little with hayfever. my f.f.f.f was saying f*ck in quick succession!!!!!! rofl
thought you were saying that i was developing asthma in dd by weaning too early!

Egypt · 23/09/2004 20:02

I was taking it as a joke, don't worry I will keep lurking away! I like looking at April babies as well - not sure why April and May are my favourites seeing as DS was born in November...

Judd · 23/09/2004 20:18

We should swap, PC, because I can't wait for DS to be older! I'll be much happier after the 6 month mark ....only 7 weeks to go!

Egypt · 23/09/2004 20:36

why's that judd? are you about to tell me that they sleep 12 hours a night in one stretch, no longer cry, poo and sick everywhere........please??? ;)

actually, i am really looking forward to being able to communicate with dd. there was a lovely little girl in a shop with her mum yesterday. i was thinking how lovely it will be when i can walk down the town with her, holding hands, chatting away..ah....remind me of that in 4 years' time!

Egypt · 23/09/2004 20:39

blinkin' eck...she woke at 8pm AGAIN. dont know why she is doing this, but inconsolable again until fed. then only took a few sucks. clearly comfort feeding. i have developed a habit in my baby already. she cant go to sleep without my boob. great. oh well. might just go to bed as we're prob in for another night like last night........sorry, i do go on...and on and on.....ariston

libb · 23/09/2004 20:40

Hey - for a duff thread I did good!

OP posts:
Judd · 23/09/2004 21:07

Just that I'm happier when they can DO a bit more! Practically speaking, I would love DS to be able to sit up unsupported so that I have a free hand or two to grab DD down from whatever she has managed to climb up, help her hoik her trousers back up after using the toilet...stuff like that.
Also I think I have at the back of my mind that I came off my ADs when DD was 9 months so I must have been feeling pretty good then.
I do love DS lots, its just that his and DD's needs are so different at the moment and its hard to fulfil hers when he is so little and impatient!!

SusiS · 23/09/2004 21:14

allrighty I am back! had to watch "fat nation" - shouldn't have now I feel worse grrrr
they make it look so easy!

anyways, what did i miss????

As cute as he is at the moment I can't wait neither for him to comunicate. Go to the playground and on the swing or play with the ball

Egypt: Lucas never liked a dummy - he always spit it out. But lately I've got a different one and he seems to like that one. But only for sleeping. And at nights when I know he can't really be hungry he is happy getting his dummy and falls back to sleep again...
Although he started waking up at nights only recently ...

..waiting for judd's reply on what happens to kids with 6 months ... (dreaming egypt's dream dumdidumdidum)

...waving at peeping one...

linnet · 23/09/2004 21:48

A new thread. Must admit you had me confused when I saw it was part 5!

Welcome Susi. I'm Linnet I have a dd1 who is 7 and a dd2 who is 18 weeks tomorrow. My dd cut out bottles by herself. At 10 weeks she cut herself down to 4 bottles a day.

Egypt my HV said I could try dd2 with some baby rice if I wanted last week. I bought some but was reluctant to try her but sort of excited so I did try her with a little at her teatime bottle but she just spat it right back out again. I tried a few more times but she's not really been interested. Until yesterday when she took the whole lot, which of course was only a tiny amount but she ate it all. Didn't give her any today though as Thursdays are a nightmare day with dd1 at gymnastics after school and I really didn't want to be trailing baby rice etc to the sports centre. Dd1 started solids when she was around 17/18 weeks and she's ok so I'm not to worried. but dd2 doesn't seem all that fussed, she's happy with milk. I'll try harder once we come back from our holiday. I'm getting dd2 weighed next week she gets her last lot of the first part of the jabs on monday, does that make sense? I'll get her weighed on Wednesday and she'll get her last Men C when we come back from London.

Yes, our holiday is most definitely on. DH got the ok so I booked the flights last night and the buggy and pop up travel cot arrived today. I can't believe how small the cot folds up, it's amazing if only they'd been around when dd1 was a baby. When she was a baby and we went to London we trailed my cousins travel cot with us, you know the huge big heavy one the size of a playpen, looking back we must have been mad. and it was so heavy! at least this one is so tiny we can stick it in the suitcase. Took me ages to figure out how to fold it back down though, lol.
Twiglett, I quite like the Techno xt, it's a bit heavier than the one that we were looking at in the shop the other day, I think that was just a techno, but the xt does seem a lot more padded. Much fancier than they were when dd1 was a baby. Amazing how much changes in 7 years when it comes to equipment like prams and cots.

Bozza · 23/09/2004 22:19

Lots been happening since I last managed to post. Been stuck in the house with poxy DS and DD all week which has NOT been fun. New suite arrived today though which was nice - its leather and apparently smells but I've still got a cold so can't smell it.

So who's weaning then? Judd and Susi? And Egypt thinking about it. Is that right? I don't think I will make it to 6 months but am definitely thinking about waiting until after our holiday at the beginning of October so might make 5 months.

Kbaby - I seem to have upright children. DS was just like DD - never happier than when he was held upright - wouldn't be cradled as a newborn - and never crawled/shuffled. So come February when you lot are all posting about your crawling babies being into everything I will probably be winging about how frustrated DD is because she can't move about yet.

Am wondering if DS is near the point of not being contagious because I have a severe case of cabin fever. And I think the kids have too. Got so bad yesterday, I bundled them into the car (DS in underpants and pj top) and drove aimlessly for an hour.

spots · 23/09/2004 22:24

Oooh hello darlin's and guvnor's ... I am postcarding you from the big smoke! Our friends in Lewisham have internet in the bedroom, and broadband, and DH and AJ are watching a spoof documentary. I couldn't resist. FIRSTLY... and so sorry Linnet... NOBODY ELSE GET SAMSONITE TRAVEL COTS! They are so hard to get back in their packets that we have knackered ours within five uses. I am gearing up to write to Samsonite and tell them that the dinner plate business is quite unnecessary; we'd rather have a bigger product we can actually use.

I also need to say how lovely I think London is, all over again. Today we went to Greenwich on the Docklands Light Railway and I nearly wet myself with excitement. Linnet, perhaps you would be interested to know about Discover in Stratford which is a children's 'story making centre?' Things like light-up stepping stones that make giggling sounds, and screens that put you in a film, and climbing tunnels. Meant for 3-7 year olds but lots of things are sensory so good for babies too.

We are off to Manchester tomorrow for this wedding. Staying in Sale. I don't know Mancs AT ALL; have only been once... to a party in Didsbury! The wedding is in the Cathedral and the Cathedral Choir will be singing. Think I might giggle.

Weaning eh? yus yus... I turn my back for one little moment...Am also tempted, but DD has been so peachy and happy I can't yet spot any desire for 'more' in her. I'm just looking forward to offering her further pleasures in life!

I hope Prufrock is feeling better... and you too Judd...

Keep wondering how many mumsnetters are walking down the same street as me in this big peopley place. Babies make everyone so friendly. We keep getting helpful comments about maybe DD's legs being cold, or her nose being covered by her muslin, or her zip being half undone! obviously glaringly apparent parenting glitches in action.

Had better shut up I think. Thank God I logged on... would hve taken me all week to catch up if I'd left it any longer, you natterers you.

and welcome to Susi! (and piccadillycircus... we haven't been there this time)
