Wouldn't we all be a nightmare on a rare ladies only night out?!

an OK from Prufrock definitely would be good.

spots · 23/09/2004 22:32

Hee Hee... we were in dulwich today! DH got his hair cut at a place called Keith's while I drooled at bootees in Grace and Favour... then we bought chocolate cigars and olive oil in the posh deli on the high street.

Dammit no!

spots · 23/09/2004 22:39

If you see a couple with a cold legged baby with a half undone zip, a muslin over her nose and a chocolate cigar.... do say hello... (or say 'Get that child away from those imbecile parents')

must stop being rude and go back downstairs

xxxto y'all

Spots I did manage to get the cot back into it's bag after a few tries. Couldn't get the mattress bit back in the bag though but that can go in the suitcase so it doesn't matter to much.

Is it cold in London? Wondering how many warm clothes to pack for dd2 and dd1 and me. I hate the cold, it's getting a lot colder here now need to buy a new fleece as my old one is all stretched from wearing while pregnant. Seeing as London is usually warmer than Scotland I'm not sure what to do. I'll probably just pack all dd's warm clothes to be safe.
The story making centre sounds great dd1 would love that. Will need to look into it. We're planning on going to Chessington world of adventures and that's the only concrete plan we have so far. Oh and Hamleys so we can trail round 5 floors of toys yet again, aarrggghhhh I hate hamleys, by the time we get to the 3rd floor I've had enough.

GeorginaA · 23/09/2004 23:13

Eh?! What happened to part 4?!!!

Go away on holiday for a week, and look what happens

Mental note. I think taking a 4 month old and a 3 year old away wasn't the most restful of ideas. I need a holiday to recover from my holiday...

Egypt · 24/09/2004 08:14

welcome back georgina and spots!!! oo and bozza! yes we have been a little chatty.

gosh, all these people going to the big smoke. and here i am stuck in good old leicestershire. mind you, we are off to gay paris if you recall!??!?!?!?! the date may have changed according to dh (its a works thing) but is around the 7th oct. dont want to have to cart babyrice everywhere now i think about it!

SusiS · 24/09/2004 10:15

thx linnet: yep I think DS is just about to cut out a bottle and somehow he changed his complete routine - he sleeps alot lately during the day. but he still wants his 2 bottles at night.

waving at bozza: yep, cabin fever can be very serious. not done the latenightcarride though - since i am new to this sahm-thingy there is still loads for me to do first before i really get bored. well, i baked my own bread! (you reckon i am bored yet???)

weaning: we started 4 wks ago and he did really well. but since last week - i guess it was the infection he had - he's gone off again. so i am starting over again - spoonwise ...

i am wondering myself when lo will finally start crawling. somehow i am looking forward to it but somehow i am worried too
he is also a very upright one! standing standing standing ... yesterday dp realized that i've got some bizeps - must be all that baby carrying around!

spots: hello hello! hope your are enjoying london! it's a lovely day today! i am not too far away from there - you seem to come around quite alot! well, since i was pregnant everything just got put on hold - we used to go to cornwall and n-wales alot but hey, it's getting cold now anyways so deffinitly next summer

welcome back georgina: hope you had a nice holiday despite needing another holiday now

morning egypt - how are things today?
DS is having his nap and I've got some time to myself

PicadillyCircus · 24/09/2004 10:23

Judd, I do love DS how he is and right now he is devloping his own character which is lovely! He even seems to be getting a bit of a sense of humour (or is it just that he finds me too silly for words ).

I just like reading about the April and May babies - might be because I discovered Mumsnet around then and was reading about the latter stages of your pregnancies.

Egypt, I'd agree that from about 6 months things feel a bit easier or at least different. I do have a baby who generally sleeps 12 hours at night and when we're at home rather than him at nursery and me at work he will happily sleep for ages during the day. (Virtually no sleep at nursery - they asked me if he sleeps in the day at home...)

And once they can do more things it becomes more fun although with crawling you are chasing them round when they are awake.

I might keep popping in now and again rather than just lurking - you are definitely the most prolific posters of any baby thread!

take a deeeeeep breath!!! or go for a walk - 2 hours is tough! - i remember when DS wanted feeding every hour day and night! but he didn't gain any weight. does yours??? if so then no reason to worry yet. well, you always can try give her some babyrice ... it's only spoonwise in the beginning anyways.
I started DS wk15 but he didn't like babyrice at all - so we went straight to veggies.

or maybe send dh for a walk with kids!!!

Egypt · 24/09/2004 11:39

me too twiglett. but having read mears post on my other thread am feeling that i shouldnt wean again. gotta go, dd hungry - again

libb · 24/09/2004 11:57

DS slept from 11 until 7am this morning - had a feed and then slept until 10am. Sorry. Obviously not ready for weaning, either that or my milk is the best in the world and there aint no substitution!

Again, sorry for mucking up the numbers . I am such a plank. Can I blame hormones or something?

There seems to an awful lot of invading each others turf going on at the moment. Egypt, am off to sunny Ludham for a visit - do you want me to pop by at your parents? Are trains buggy friendly?

Blinking heck. Ive was only gone for 2 days and its taken me ages to catch up with you all.
Welcome Susi. my DD is my first and is 17 weeks old. Were bf and not weaning yet. Im still trying to wait to nearer 6 months.
Im knackered DD is waking more often again.
Wed night she went to bed at 8 woke at 9 and stayed awake until 1am, she was lying in her cot playing and having the odd whinge but I just cant sleep if shes not asleep. Finally got her off to sleep by rocking her(i know ive got sleep association probs already) and then last night bed at 9 after 30 mins of crying, woke at 10 and I fed her then woke again at 10.30 tried to feed but she went to sleep after a few sucks, fed again at 3 and then she woke at 5am argghh I left her in her cot playing and whinging hoping she may go back to sleep, no such luck. In the end at 6 I brought her into bed where weve slept until 9. DP's not helping either, last night he said hes was going to sleep in the spare room as he has work and is too tired 'dont mind me though im not tired, just because i havent got work doesnt mean i sit on my @rse all day' i think was my response. Anyway at 5 this morning he says as hes awake he may as well get up and go to work, which he did. Think we need to chat tonight.

Found my wedding dress, it was the first one i saw and none have come close. Just need to save the extra money as costs more than i had planned.

Your right about hv's my friends dd whos 17 weeks is only 2nd centile and as shes dropping weight the hv said to wean her. Shes not waking at night or anything, whereas my hv hasnt said anything to us even though dd's not gaining weight much.
Weve got the Annabel Karmel's New Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner book.
Learnt a lesson yesterday- never leave a 4 year old in the room with DD. My friends ds came into the kitchen carrying DD yesterday thank god he didnt drop her and carried her with both arms under her back and head.

SusiS · 24/09/2004 13:04

dont know libb, since DS is over 4 months already if "hormones" still count

but see? she is still happy, so keep going bf (if you feel ok with it that is)

heya kbaby!! welcome back
well, might also be just a growth spurt that she doesn't put on weight at the moment. as long as she is happy I wouldn't change a thing.

And re HV: well I am waiting now almost a week for a "return call" to discuss DS eating habits. Nothing yet ... go figure!

But I only go with their "advice" when I think it's ok for DS. And today I was really proud of him. As I said I stopped weaning for a few days and started 2 days ago from the beginning - spoon after spoon. And today I even started with solids (normally he screams and screams until he gets the bottle first and then he might finish off with solids) but today he couldn't get enough of his carrots/potatos!!! And it was soooo cute - he swallowed and then opened his mouth wide and his arms and legs were going like wild - I think that was the first time he really enjoyed it
And I've got my steamer out so I'll start making my own babyfood. Hope it works

At the moment he is lying on his mat in the conservatory and talking to his tree - you should hear him! cooking and babbling and smacking .... he's learning new sounds every day!

SusiS · 24/09/2004 13:12

oh i forgot
kbaby - when's the happy day????

and re dp; well i can't really complain. he is trying and doing as good as he can. he works nightshift so he get's to see DS quite some time.
But mostly his way of looking after him is putting DS down and doing his own things until DS gets really bored and annoyed - I am not really worried because DS tells him what he wants
anyways, every day when i ask him if he slept well he answers "i would of, but i've got woken up once and had to turn over back to sleep..."
grrrr does he have to get up???? fair enough when he gets up around 2pm I give him time to himself but after 2 hours or though I want him to look after DS too. If you don't say it somehow they don't see it. What is it with men???

utoh, gotta go and turn lo back again. He's lying on his tummy again :0 - happy for a few minutes but then he'll get frustrated

Egypt · 24/09/2004 14:23

yey libb! dont know about trains being buggy friendly.....if i was at my parents would meet you, but sadly i'm not! shall be in norwich around 25th oct i think, then again 5 nov, then again on 13-19th for a week. if you're that way, must let me know!

omg kbaby!!! (your friend's child). that is scary. what did you do? jump up and take her? or try not to look too perturbed in front of your friend? did dd mind? your hv sounds like a good'un. sounds like all babies are having a wakeful time this last week. (except YOU libb! - well done). hope dd improves soon or i might just scream. hope you get things sorted with your dh kbaby. i think men just dont understand how hard it is sometimes. i think just the mere fact that you are at home and not having to go to work means you have it easy. they should swap roles for 24 hours.

i'm supposed to be letting dd have some tummy time this week so she gets used to it by TUESDAY!!!! (yes this is our hv talking again). Baby massage concentrates on the back next week. all the babes couldnt do it and dd wont just lie there with her head to the side. she strains to pull her head up and gets very cross very quickly. there is no way she'll let me massage her back on TUESDAY!

Egypt · 24/09/2004 16:23

susi, you mentioned that you'd recently moved here - where is here and where have you moved from? nice to have another on the oh so popular may thread

Egypt · 24/09/2004 16:30

anybody want any gro-bags or anything else from kiddicare.com?
i want some of the £12.99 gro-bags that are on special deal, but you need to either buy something else before you qualify for them at that price, or spend more than £50. i want 3 bags, which is...der.er. £38.97, so if anyone else wants to order one........i will post to you (FOC) and that will make the £50!

GeorginaA · 24/09/2004 16:43

BALLS wish I'd read that this morning, Egypt - just bought a footmuff for the pushchair!! (I bought at a different site though, but could have just of easily bought from kiddicare).

Sorry

Re: tummy time/rolling etc... is anyone's baby doing that yet? Tummy time I can get ds2 to do for short periods, but he's still not very keen. He rolled once on holiday (from back to front) - aided by a very slight slope though, so I'm not sure that counts! Plus he hasn't shown much interest in a repeat. He's very active in moving around on his back and thumping arms, arching back, kicking legs etc... so I'm not sure how much of an issue it is. He also ADORES standing (with me holding under arms, obviously!). If you put him in a sitting position he'll immediately straighten his legs to stand and giggles manically. His legs seem so strong! I'm sure ds1 wasn't this keen to stand! Mind you, I don't remember ds1 being as energetic!

Not convinced the bumbo is working for us. Ds2 seems to like it, mainly because he likes to chew the corner, but to do so he crumples right over to get to it which doesn't look that good for his back to me. He'll never stay upright in it.
