Wouldn't we all be a nightmare on a rare ladies only night out?!

Okay, My hours at home really are numbered now, DS has gone out with DP for a couple of hours and I can't stop being a bit weepy about it all. My baby isn't going to love me as much as the childminder and it will be all my fault. I don't care for welcome back lunches and nice e-mails - I want to stay at home with my darling and marvel at how brilliant and wonderful he is.

I didn't think I would be such a mess. Someone slap me or something . . . I need it and I won't hold it against you.

Obviously not weepy about their being out for a couple of hours, just that I am free to wander about the house doing so without DP fretting.

oh libb, the time when we have to leave our loved little ones to go to work is always going to be hard. BUT only for a while. We become so attached to their little lives and cute podgy faces and routines, that we feel guilty having to leave them to whoever, but let me assure you your ds will not love you're childminder more. Sure he'll like her, but he knows mummy and will always turn to you whenever you're around. I thought the same when i had to leave ds1 with MIL but our bond just increased even more. He knows who calls the shots and runs to me for every bit of advice or want. I can't say anything to change you're feelings, only that as you settle back into work and your ds settles with the childminder, those feelings will surpass, only for new feelings to arise, such as starting nursery . Time does fly, and it's so important to make the most of it when they're so tiny.

i feel so sad that you lot are sad about going back to work. even though i'm not i can totally imagine how i would feed if i was and its just like you are.

dd took a while to settle tonight. she was just dropping off during her feed when she felt the need to do a big pawpawpoo. def the pawpaw! oo dear. changed her but it went all over her.....lights ON -wide awake baby. lights off. feed......more pawpawpoo. oh lord. changed, fed.......sleep. we hope.

amfs - you have to change your name to something else, of the crisp/snack variet - maybe pringles would be good!

hey thats a great name....wish i had it actually.

having nice new working dryer delivered tomorrow, along with my tescos shop. need to go out and get a few bits, like more massage oil for dd. class is on tues. have run out. god, can you tell i'm bored....what other mindless stuff can i share ?

Hiya! Phew back from family weekend. I can report that my new pushchair is FABULOUS, So light and nippy. Kiera was very well behaved and smiled sweetly and gurgled, even when my seriously annoying 9 year old cousin decided SHE was her mum for the weekend, and kept carrying her round like a rag doll, waving every toy we had right. in.her.face. While her mum sat by and said...nothing.Oh and grimaced at me every time i went to take MY daughter away, so her head didn't fall of her shoulders and on to the carpet. Grrrrr.

Anyway, home now, and despite being asleep for two hours in the car on the way home (from 4.00pm till 6.00pm, Kiera went straight to sleep at 7.15 Let's hope she stays that way!

Susi- Hipseat from John Lewis, WONDERFULL. And Kiera's not even that heavy really, but i have a weak back, and it really takes the weight.

Libb-Of course you feel wobbly going back to work, we all would/do. Ds will not love the childminder more than you. You are his mummy. Always have been always will be. If anything he'll be more excited and pleased to see you if he doesn't see you all the time. {{{hug}}}

Kbaby- Like has been said, your baby is leading you with weaning. That's exactly what kiera did, and since she's had solids, she's been taking her milk better as well.

I thought baby's needed to be able to sit up by themselves before highchairs? If not, great! I will purchase one-for some reason i'm very excited about the high chair stage. I'm sure it's something to do with when you were little and you used to pretend to feed "your baby".....[blush}

Anyway hope everyone's okay!

Egypt · 10/10/2004 20:25

hi cat - i want your pushchair!

and can you find a pic of your hipseat on the net and post a link purlease????? dd is too heavy for her babybjorn for very long.

you must have the patience of a saint watching your dd being dragged around! surely the mother must remember how it feels when your little one is a baby.?

havent used the highchair yet, dd just gets fed in her bouncy chair, but when we went for breakfast in paris, a waitress brought us a highchair. she did actually sit in it ok. had to keep a close eye on her so she didnt slump under and fall out, and she kind of rested on the side bars, but loved it. dead cute.

Egypt · 10/10/2004 20:29

aha - is this it?

hipseat

Egypt · 10/10/2004 20:30

but how does it hold them in? or do you hold them? sorry, i am being a bit slooooooooowwwwwwww

Amfs · 10/10/2004 20:37

ahhhh Libb ... sweetie .. you'll be fine .. I've been there, done it .. .went back to work when DS was 6 months old .. tbh didn't even think of him whilst at work properly .. just give it a few days to settle down and remember nothing and no-one can ever get between how much your DS will love you .. you're his mummy

actually Egypt I'm beginning to quite like amfs .. sounds like a dog sneezing

SusiS · 10/10/2004 20:39

yes egypt, that's the one! been to the shop today - closed grmpf - going to order it now!
believe you me, lo was 22lb last weighin - so back really needs support!!!

and i can't wait for ds sitting in highchair either - well, maybe i should buy one first - dp always wanted that wooden one which is also a table with chair for later on. but i think i changed my mind. want one easy to clean and easy to fold up!

cat: i always have that with MIL. have to drag ds away from her to rescue him

i think ds is getting another tooth - poor boy has got bright red cheeks and was whiney all day! dribbling like mad and sometimes even gushes of water coming out of his mouth (scary) - and his last nappy looked really weird!!!! luckily he fell asleep without any probs. hope he can get some rest (didn't get much naps during day) -

Egypt · 10/10/2004 20:40

lol! spose it does.

Egypt · 10/10/2004 20:42

bless your ds susi. you'll have to go to photobox.com and post us a picture of him. with his toothy grin

funny - i also have that prob with mil

Egypt · 10/10/2004 20:46

oh no - its photobox.co.uk

put dd in her door bouncer thing today - what are they called? you'd have thought she'd won the lottery to look at her. she loved it. so funny

SusiS · 10/10/2004 20:54

got one of them doorbouncer too! but every time i think of using it ds has just eaten!!! and experienced we better wait an hour or so

cat82 · 10/10/2004 21:02

That's my hipseat Egypt! You rest the little 'uns on the side facing outwards. Very comfy for them. My pushchair is a Mclaren XT Storm, I highly reccomend them, and if you do consider them, get it from www.kiddiecare.com not mothercare, kiddiecare is sooooo much cheaper.

Susi- Bless! kiera also has had bright red cheeks for a while, and has been a little grumpier than usual...hmmm. Calgel at the ready methinks, ooh and those teetha granuals as well....
Hope Ds is okay tonight, i am dreading teething. I really am.

xxxx

SusiS · 10/10/2004 21:13

he is not too bad! just quite in pain sometimes, always something in his mouth - despite that he still is putting happy face on
teetha granulas? where do i get them from?

thinking of getting new pushchair too! but shhhhh don't tell dp - he doesn't know yet
but the one we've got now is way too big and heavy and bulky and just takes all the room on the boot!

cat82 · 10/10/2004 21:15

Susi- ours did too! We couldn't take it away with us when we went away for the weekend and it drove me mad!!!

cat82 · 10/10/2004 21:16

Oh and teetha granuals (i think) you can get from Holland and Barret. Tho i went in there the other day and couldn't find any.

SusiS · 10/10/2004 21:19

and we've got a travelsystem; with carseat included; which was great for the beginning - but ds is too big for that now. luckily we've got a bigger one already from friends - but now pram well, just too big

now i rather carry him around instead of taking pram - and poor me!!! haven't even got the hipseat yet

SusiS · 10/10/2004 21:20

egypt: do i have to "invite" you to see the pics???

spots · 10/10/2004 22:14

Hello, back from grannying. Had a lovely weekend, actually. MIL looked after DD while I did some work today and yesterday, and that was great. I found it so much easier to be fun mummy and think up good games after not having to pacify her while I do boring stuff like washing up. (A lot of our normal days seem to be spent pacifying her while I do boring stuff like washing up.) But she also got suddenly very mummy-orientated and shouted like mad if anyone else tried to change her. I feel like I've had a first mini taste of her being left with someone else. Thinking about you as I write this, Libb. I know this was just a teeny toe in the water, and you are obliged to jump right in with all your clothes on. But I bet it does really make you and DS appreciate each other loads, and more consciously, and then it will settle down and become just normal. And let's face it, you'll be soldiering on earning money for your wee family, and that is good mothering too. Hope you aren't too weepy tonight. Or, actually, you probably are but don't beat yourself up about it... just be bittersweet sad that it is so rip-you-up-y being a mum to such a lovely boy...

SusiS · 11/10/2004 09:15

what a bad bad night! when i went to feed ds last night at 9.30 i realised he was sooo hot! indeed; 38.7 temperature - i couldn't leave him in his cot alone in his room. he came with me in my bed! and he was whimpering all night long. he did sleep though! just woke once at 4.30 for food and slept again till 6. - but i just couldn't sleep!!!
today in the morning he seems allright though! emptied his bottle in one go and temperature is normal again a and cheeks are not bright red anymore - but no new tooth
well, any minute then

hope you all had a better night

Egypt · 11/10/2004 09:36

susi, you can also get ashton and parsons from boots. yes you have to invite me to see the pics, or just put them on shared by anyone.

not so great a night. dd went from 8 til 11 then 3,4,6.30,9! at least got a lie in.

libb, hope you are ok. you must be at work now. can you get online there? let us know how things go, which i am sure you will anyway. {{{{{hugs}}}}}}
