I don't talk that much about my DS, actually, I spend the day marvelling at all the little things he had accomplished and then, at dinners time I can't tell his father about them because I just don't remember , but I still find M&T groups difficult, sometimes they are so competitive that even mention about an accomplishment gets you a not such a nice reponse...

I do make an effort to smile and be friendly and try to join in and talk... but I live in an area with a load of stuck-up cows TBH, hence the reason why I never post where I actually live

jampot · 20/09/2004 13:58

i smile and say good morning to everyone and talk to any mum standing near me and if half way through the term a new mum arrives i go and introduce myself,we also get each others mobile numbers in case one is late to pick up their child, apart from 2 or 3 mums everyone is really friendly

Whaddya mean not healthy????? Think of it as a virtual school gate. I'm sure we'd all be friends in RL too....wouldn't we?

Jampot, I am one of the been-there-done-that mothers too, but again everyone went out of their way to include first-timers. It's the best way of finding out the school's quirks, so it seems a bit harsh to me to deliberately exclude people.

actually I have to say I went to my first M&T group today and most people were nice, I found the vicars wife a bit, erm...whats the word? she spoke to me like I was a little girl. But the three other mums I spoke to were fine

tamum - noooo - we didn't deliberately exclude anyone!!!! I said it all a bit tongue in cheek. The new mummies formed their own little group and go out on social occasions and leave us out!!! I talk to anyone and everyone. In fact when one of the families moved over here from Zimbabwe it was I who showed her the ropes etc, had her kids so both parents could go to parents evening, took her to the local supermarkets/gave lifts/took her to the shopping centre/toys r us (which completely blew her away) - I really am a nice person - honest x

lou33 · 20/09/2004 14:08

Doesn't matter where I stand , I create an exclusion zone around me. So it isn't just mums of one child. Actually tbh, I quite like it, it means I don't have to mop up the blood from my bleeding ears during conversations.

whymummy · 20/09/2004 14:09

yes,great memory cod

tamum · 20/09/2004 14:10

Ah, jampot, I'm sorry! It's so hard to get nuances on here. I could tell from your other posts that you're nice really. I always quite like imparting my superior knowledge to new people to be honest so I may not have the purest of motives
