Is six children too many ?

Someone,( a colleague..but I do not know them well ), just stopped me in the corridor at work...noticing I was pregnant they asked me if it was my first, when I told them ,' no, it's my 6th '...they said,' six is too many ', and strod off....Is six too many ?

I know it's my own buisness etc.,but do people think there is an optimum(ish) number beyond which no matter resources and experience 'quality' ifyswim declines...I'm thinking of the utter derision/venom directed at a mum of 13,( or was it 14? 15? ), on a thread recently. What if i'd said ' I have 13 '...or even I want 13..

On a serious note, I think it is up to the individual to decide how many is too many. If you can cope, then why not?

I can just guess what the reaction would be to a ton of my friends who have 5 and upwards. In fact, I've got a friend with 17, but they aren't all birth children, to be fair.

The simplest answer has to be that the 'optimum' number varies from family to family, surely? I'd love more, but my health probably means it won't happen

The problem, is, it's hard to trust someone who tends to start threads just to sneer at other people and their lives in a disingenuous manner. So people assume you have an ulterior motive in starting this.

Maybe your colleague meant that six would be too many for her personally? Did she say it in french or english(I'm thinking maybe there's a translation problem?)

or that you want us to actually believe that your a mother rather than a career-obsessed lunatic who only feels people are valuable if they work 7-7 5 days a week
