It seems like I'm the only one. According to Facebook atleast. My son is super excited to earn his next lot. There must be others though right?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Weezol · 30/12/2017 18:19

Have just read the whole thread.
I can't find an emoji for 'cross eyed with the beginnings of a headache'.

QueenieMum · 30/12/2017 18:22

Haven't seen a thread like this for ages!! OP just in case you're still reading this, all you had to do was explain the full idea not just give bits of an idea and expect everyone else to follow. What was totally unnecessary was your rudeness.

If you want to find like minded people you need to be completely clear in what you say. If you're looking for validation you also need to be really clear what you're saying to people so you can receive the validation you're after. It seems like I'm the only one - you'll never know now because you didn't fully explain your idea. It could be a great idea and you might even get people agreeing with you but you needed to be clear rather than rude and stroppy.

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/12/2017 18:32

Queenie Most of us have given up in favour progressive mockery.

Interested in this thread?

Hmmm, I honestly think people are being a bit cruel here. So the button idea might seem a bit bonkers, I also think it's quite cute for a small child. Not my thing but Jesus, what's with the pack mentality on here? No need. There's children out there in desperate need etc and everyone's so concerned about this woman's idea. So flaming what, it's hardly cruel and to say her child will most likely grow up and stay as far away as possible is bullying and no bloody need at all. Reporting this thread

WhiskeySourpuss · 30/12/2017 18:42

@Mummyoflittledragon I'm just grateful that their laundry makes it to the basket, the cups/plates don't grow mouldy & I can see the floor... besides DD2 has an irrational fear of buttons even now lalaloopsy dolls fill her with terror & we've never seen Coraline

RebelRogue · 30/12/2017 18:45

@WhiskeySourpuss Coraline is awesome!! I can lend you my DD to watch it with.

Beansonapost · 30/12/2017 18:50

So the moral here is:

PRESENTS ARE NOT GIVEN, RHEY ARE EARNED!

Nah you sound like a mean person! Poor child must be freezing with only one button on his jacket!

GreenTulips · 30/12/2017 18:50

Noooo caroline caused huge nightmares here, never again

LittlePaintBox · 30/12/2017 18:50

Verilyfrankinscensed:

And I just googled progressive presents and it came up with this thread.

Well done. OP, you made the internet eat itself.

Did you do it for a bet?

WhiskeySourpuss · 30/12/2017 18:56

@RebelRogue fab but I'll have to come to you as we can't even have the DVD n the house!

@GreenTulips DD2 will be so pleased that she's not the only one however I'm guessing your children are younger than her 16 years... apparently it's the button eyes Hmm

QueenieMum · 30/12/2017 18:56

Mummyoflittledragon GrinGrinGrinand that's what has entertained me!!

RebelRogue · 30/12/2017 18:58

tinytemper66 · 30/12/2017 20:51

SimonBridges you had Sindy's house? 🏡 Well jealous! 😁

cakedup · 30/12/2017 21:33

I thought op explained it quite well actually? Not my cup of tea as an idea but I understood what she meant because I read all the words that she typed out.

GreenTulips · 30/12/2017 22:22

WhiskeySourpuss

Just turned 15!

gingergenius · 30/12/2017 22:23

SimonBridges · 30/12/2017 23:00

The house and the lift, Tiny

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 31/12/2017 01:45

Well cupcake I read all the words she typed out too, my understanding is this,

OP; is any one doing progressive presents, I've been on Facebook no one else seems to. My son can't wait to earn his next presents

MN; what's that then we can't really answer wether we do it because we don't know what it is explain please?

OP it's when you give something and it gets better over time.

MN; ok still not understanding how do you mean and what's this got to do with earning?

OP obsessing over the fact one poster doesn't understand tells her to shut up and go away twice,

MN er ok OP that was rude your still not making any sense. How do the presents get better and what do you mean earn presents, maybe we'd understand if you gave examples,

OP well if my son keeps his room tidy for a am out of time he can have a name or character sewn on his dressing gown he got a jumper, coat and some books,

MN Oh right, still slightly not really understanding why are you linking Christmas presents to behaviour; takes the joy out of Christmas, where does this idea come from what are you doing to make the books and coat better.

OP I'm letting him swap out buttons on his coat and he earns the books by reading them.

MN nope you've lost us again we're still not understanding, buttons are a bit crap present and sorry what he has to earn books? If you mean you just buy him the next book in the series when he's finished reading it, yeah we do that, it's just not linked to behaviour a present is unconditional.

OP well everyone spoils their kids I guess this generation will grow up not knowing the value of things.

MN; no OP, not everything has to be a bloody life lesson, you can get spoilt and still learn the value of things, every other generation has been spoilt at Christmas and still knows the value of things, presents are just fun and unconditional behaviour rewards are conditional their two different things. we still don't really understand why your linking Christmas presents to behaviour and buttons aren't really a better present,

OP everyone's lying!

MN in frustration hahaha buttons hahhhaaa

OP You are all Trolls

MN; WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND, YOU HAVE NOT EXPLAINED WE ARE NOT LTING WE DON'T DO THIS IT SOUNDS TOTALLY BATSHIT HAHAHA BUTTONS

gingergenius · 31/12/2017 01:58

@NaughtToThreeSadOnions

FUCKING BRAVO.

I almost orgasmed there with sheer joy at the beauty of your description, but realise that might be inappropriate so will wave politely in true regal fashion 👋🏻

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 31/12/2017 02:26

ginger i was trying to demonstrate even 'reading the words OP typed' didn't really explain what the hell she was blithering on about.

But having summarised the thread I think I might understand, i think OP means over the course of the year if her son is good he gets to choose something for her to sew on to his dressing gown/coat/jumper. She's using this as motivation for him, a bit like sewing your brownie badges on to your blanket or adding to a family patch work only she's using it as a reward.if your good mummy will personalise your dressing gown a bit.

I'm not sure however this is a present really I think it's just a the kind of task most parents end up doing, such as sewing badges on uniforms/blankets/towels/swimming costumes/tracksuit jackets as and when their earnt, I guess it's nice that at the end of the year Ops son will have a lovely dressing gown that he's added things to, I just wouldn't label the additional personalisation as a present.

I mean the OP might cone on and tell me to read what she's written And I'm lying and a troll but I think I've finally made sense of it, and only because I did that summery

KenForPM · 31/12/2017 05:32

Especially when said “presents” cost very little, buttons can cost as little as 10p.
ginger grow up with your stupid sarcasm. You’re clearly in the minority on this thread.

Rainatnight · 31/12/2017 05:36

Applause for NaughtToThreeSadOnions

Rainatnight · 31/12/2017 05:37

I thought ginger was genuinely paying a compliment.

Mummyoflittledragon · 31/12/2017 05:41

KenForPM
Eh, what? I’m confused. Sarcasm? I thought for a sec you may be the op but have seen your username around so figuring not.
