MrsW! Great to see you here! How are you these days? Think of you regularly and miss your great humour. And of course the other day you were mentioned because I have had the good 'ol tit thrush (phrase coined by you). That actually sounds like a species of garden bird doesn't it?

Dentist today :( did not go well and i will be complaining. Quote of the day. ... ' oh not the B (breastfeeding) )word! !! In the end I didn't have the sedation as was told repeatedly it would affect dd and i was being totally irresponsible. 'D'h decided he was ill today and eventually agreed NOT to come, dd is enough to look after without his silly moods. Thankfully dear friend was married to an egyptain so really understood. We had a lovely time chatting together all day. She's a40+mummy of 2under 5and a diving instructor. . No shortage of chat.
I had to do a pregnancy test today at the clinic. It was just this week last year i got my bfp!!! What a roller coaster year it's been since then.
Some success with the dummy training, only using it at night feeds. When she stops feeding and is just comfort sucking I'm giving the dummy but staying with her. My nipples are recovering:)
Quick question. ... do i need to sterilise dummy? I have been but dh says I'm being silly as everything goes into her mouth (including the germ ridden ones at baby soft play! His words)

Eagle, this too shall pass, dd will stop being poorly, you will get some good sleep again and that perfect job will turn up at just the time. Keep believing. your doing great. Enjoy your week as a single parent, do as you please, have baby moon days, eat your favourite food. Take dd on nature walk. (I know some lovely ones here if you fancy company)

Rosie, sorry about the dentist and DH's moods :) you have not lost your sense of humour, which is brilliant ! Re sterilisation of dummy, I would say no need but make sure you wash it often with hot water and soap, the new trend when I had A was no sterilisation of bottle nor teat if baby is well but I have not very looked into that as she wanted boobs only. But it makes sense, boobs are not sterile either...
Goat, hope Baby G will go back to zzzzzz soon, A woke up at 8 am, went to nursery and had her only nap of the day from 3.30 to 4pm I don't know how she does it as she was not grumpy.

LRM, I am so glad I don't go into town too often, otherwise I will shop like crazy too ! And I know I should be sensible, these kids have so much stuff already. DS asked for 5 presents for Xmas, I managed to get him to agree to give away to charity 5 toys... He has not decided which ones yet.

Im 41 have a 4yo ds and an 8mo dd (somelet). Both c section.

Big annoying here. My sons hearing test clashed with his school play. I saw from his teachers face this was not cool. As I was fasting I was a bit manic and also there's no time to talk in the am drop off. So dashed off. Then cancelled the appt. only to find out they are moving the play. Called back to find I can't get the appt back it's lost.

So frustrating.

Rosie, so sorry about your treatment at the dentists, that's appalling . Goat, hope BG's sleep improves soon. LRM, hope your colds abate soon. And it's very tempting to keep buying stuff! We decided we weren't going to buy DD much this year at all, given that she couldn't give a monkey's! But I do keep seeing things! I've done her a stocking with a few bits from Toadstool Toys in (felt fruit & veg and the like!), and a couple of books. But as for DS, like BBD, he has been told that he needs to get rid of some of his Lego before Christmas or there won't be any more! There is physically no more room in his bedroom. He has tentatively put one large box to one side but it doesn't really make a dent in it . Scarecrow, congrats on DH's promotion ! Somewhere, how bloody frustrating about the hearing test/play! Have you managed another appt anyway? Snow, congratulations! I was in your position this time last year (well, nearly, DD born by ELCS on 17th Dec). Let us know how you get on. I'm 45, have a DS aged 9 and DD nearly a year old that can't be right.
Rosa is well & truly cruising around EVERYTHING and either wants to be on her feet or sitting reading books. Current favourite is Busy Baby which must be read at least 3 times on the trot. Current favourite game is when DS bum shuffles around the house with her cuddly bunny on his back and she follows him, laughing hysterically. Current favourite food is strong cheddar and fresh pineapple, which gives her lovely breath .

Talking of.which I have my first ever poo story .... So in the weeks before T was born, when.I was going to have lazy hours to.play on the grass and swum and run back to a size 10...., we joined a slightly swanky sports club (think heated floors in the changing rooms!) So on Sunday DH takes the preschooler swimming and she us in a nearly empty pool at 4pm when she starts singing ("singing" that is) "when it's running.down your leg...diahorrea, DIAHORREA". DH reports that the other swimmers looked a bit oddly at her. There is no emoticon fit for this story.

That is my poo story. Full stop. The End

Scarecrow. ... was there ACTUALLY poo involved? ? I have another poo story. Just dropped a full dirty nappy on a pile of clean baby clothes. Managed a get just allittle poo on everything whole pile straight back in machine!!

Drum roll. .....i have made inquiries about a childminder dh has agreed that if i find an Arabic speaking childminder (Muslim) it would be GOOD for Dd. I like the idea that she is spoken to in Arabic and learn Arabic children's songs :) I have been calling round cultural centres. They have been great and we're going to a play session at the mosque later this week ! They will also put an advert in their news letter!

Rosie, that would be such a gift to Rosebud, we speak French at home and DS learnt English at nursery, he is fluent in both. You can do it. As long as you stick to English with her and her Dad to Arabic, there won't be an issue, and once they master 2 languages, they develop their ability to learn other languages easily, the world will be their oyster. Montessori thinks than before the age of 6, they are sponges, absorbing minds with no effort. Do it.

Welcome to the thread Snow! Wishing you all the best for Thursday. I'm 42 and have 10mo DD.

Somewhere forgot to say before that's great news that you got to the sling library. Connectas are great - did you manage to get DD onto your back ok? There's a fab video on Youtube showing you how to do it safely on your own - can't remember if I've already posted it or not though. I've currently got a woven wrap out on hire - might try a back carry when DD wakes up later.

Last night was another shocker. DD went to bed fine, then woke up at 11pm, whining/chattering at first but full-blown crying by midnight, then proceeded to scream all night ti 7am. Tried boob, calpol, ibuprofen, teething powder, cot mobile and still she screamed and wouldn't sleep. Strangely though, when I showed her photos of herself on my phone she stopped crying and was laughing and smiling for a while And then we both slept til 11am - I loathe waking up late! Really can't go on like this - can only think it might be teething but actually have no idea. Anyway, need a plan of action for tonight. Might give her Calpol as soon as she wakes up at 11pm, and maybe try putting her on her front, as she has rolled onto her front the last two nights anyway.

Anyone care to guess what DP has bought DD for christmas?

Eagle, poor poor you .... I slept T on tummy a lot in first weeks. Once they can move head a lot safer, and at 10mo really she is much stronger. Remember we are talking teeny tiny percentage risks. Also would going for a walk help? Once with DD and once - two nights ago - with Tintin was the only thing that calmed them. If Calpol, milk and cuddles not worked the problem probably subsumed by monstrous OT-ness. Anyway it worked for us so add a 3am walk to mix.....

Strangely, she smelt really pooey in the night and felt a bit guilty that I was too demented with tiredness to change her. And then this morning - empty nappy!

I may try night walking too, although she HAS to sleep tonight as v busy day tomorrow. And may have some big news for you all, possibly... Maybe...
