I am a single parent, two DC's at home, 2 at uni themselves.

Going into 2nd year and starting to panic about how I'm going to juggle everything Smile

Anyone else?

Hello!

I had a couple of weeks of almost Actual Working.

I am now back to procrastinating, ignoring deadlines, pretending that essays do not exist, and fighting the urge to write (Well everyone fucking knows that, 2011) as at least one of my references.

There are another five weeks to go, the child is ill, I feel far more stupid than I did on the day that I started my degree, and I have the most mortifying crush on one of my amazing lecturers Blush

How is everyone else getting on?

I really am fighting the urge to watch Dexter/Misfits/Walking Dead/Frozen Planet this evening (am trying for a focused TV-free term)

fluffythevampirestabber · 02/11/2011 07:04

I have been doing work since 5.30 because I can't sleep.

The house is a shithole. Once the kids are up it will have to be a clean house morning.

Grin at crush on lecturer. I really fancied one of mine last year. Went back after summer, he's cut his hair, wearing jeans fit for floods and hiking trainers.

PMSL

There's not a lecturer worthy of a crush at my ENTIRE uni.

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 03/11/2011 01:06

I would say that 99% of the lecturers here are firmly ensconded in unattractive tweed elbow patch territory.

I am going to have to avoid him for fear of embarrassing myself as I am certain that I'm as subtle as a brick in the face.

On the plus side I spent hours working tonight on an essay for his course. He's not even going to be the one that reads it. My libido has guilted me into working Hmm

MissMunsterMogwi · 03/11/2011 13:33

Just remembered I'm off all next week.

I'm going to do all my essay plans for upcoming work and come in to the library at least once.

Disclaimer: i may well change my mind so don't hold me to it Grin

fluffythevampirestabber · 04/11/2011 12:55

My uni has banned reading weeks. So I'm not off Sad

And MrsPles - that made me snort, maybe if I had a hunky lecturer I would put more effort in

MissMunsterMogwi · 04/11/2011 13:50

Maybe when we get those surveys on what we think could be improved or whatever, we should suggest fit lecturers to increase attendance and effort! Grin

fluffystabby · 04/11/2011 14:09

fluffystabby · 05/11/2011 10:47

Right. Today I am going to finish my essay on supremacy and direct effect in the EU and ignore the jurisprudence law and morals one that I read the question and have literally not a clue about

work work work here

Anyone else?

MissMunsterMogwi · 05/11/2011 11:22

I'm going to do an essay plan for my next assignment. I'm determined to become more organised and not end up working until 3am

I'll do it just as soon as I stop finding other things to do first! My house has never been so clean!

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 05/11/2011 20:19

What are these reading weeks of which you speak? Hmm

My last essay nearly killed me so I'm having a day "off" due to a hangover

workload + < sleep = appearance of the "don't give a shit" face

I will no doubt be back tomorrow worrying about impending deadlines Wink

MissMunsterMogwi · 05/11/2011 21:17

I thought everywhere got reading week. We get another week in the spring term as well.

I always look more nackered and shite. than usual when deadlines are looming. And I go on about it to everyone; "blah blah 17th century blah blah referencing"

Grin
MrsPlesWearsAFez · 06/11/2011 11:06

I've never even heard of reading weeks

I have the pleasure of a 5th birthday soft play party today. Noooooooo.

fluffystabby · 06/11/2011 11:41

Needy wail.

Come and weep and panic with me please

here

MissMunsterMogwi · 08/11/2011 09:39

Had my first mark back. I did ok, could have done better but new material so not beating myself up.

My plan to do essay plans and go into the library this week has now failed twice. Still, it's only Tuesday! I am sat watching the scrotes on Jezza Blush

fluffystabby · 08/11/2011 09:46

I am MNetting and have decided to skip a lecture today Blush I feel headachey and I know if I go in I'll get nothing out of it and I have a couple of things I want to research and I can do that just as well here

Well done on the essay Grin as long as it's a pass is all that matters Wink

MissMunsterMogwi · 10/11/2011 20:56

Long time no see! How is everyone? Working hard I hope like me not

MissMunsterMogwi · 12/11/2011 21:03

Self indulgent moan alert:

Having little niggly doubts about doing the degree. The work is so much tougher and the amount of time I should spend working is huge. If I don't get a 2:1 I won't get on a PGCE and that was the main plan. I might
not get on one anyway dud to the level of competition. The economic climate is going to get worse before it gets better, teaching jobs are getting more scarce.

Sigh. I've had a bad week, I'm tired and a bit skint. Had a Christmas job lined up which fell through the night before I was supposed to start, so Xmas looking a bit leaner than I hoped.

I'm off to inhale Butterkist and green tea which negates the calories.

keynesian · 13/11/2011 11:04

Hi MMM, hope you enjoyed the Butterkist :) If we can't have self indulgent moans on here where can we?! Really sorry to hear about the job falling through, are there any others about you can apply for?

If you did give up uni, what are your options? I'm sure you can get a 2:1 (or better!) and the on to a PGCE - mature students for that are very highly rated and at least you know teachers are always going to be needed... possibly unlike economists!

Are you 2nd year? I am and it is a lot more challenging but I'm focusing on the end result and keep thinking of elephants to drive me on!

That is, 'How do you eat an elephant? Bit by bit!"

I've got my first exam of the year tomorrow and I'm feeling mostly ok about it... I did manage to study some of yesterday and will again this afternoon and evening... then there's plenty of assignments and two more exams before the end of term.

I'm still ignoring the approach of Christmas :o

MissMunsterMogwi · 13/11/2011 12:11

Yes I am in second year. I absolutely love the course, and I've worked so hard to get here but you're right it is so much more challenging.

I'm looking for a job and they are out there, however I can only find jobs that are a few hours every day rather than weekends or the days I'm not in uni. I can't do evening or night work as I'm a LP.

I think it's a combination of factors; tired, bit skint, problems with DD2 at school, tired, uni work. I just need a kick up the backside.Grin

Good luck with your exam, I also study in chunks like that. I find I go a bit more mad if I do a revision marathon.

Thanks for pandering to me!

fluffystabby · 14/11/2011 07:10

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK

WHY DO I DO THIS? DECIDE TO DO A FUCKING BASTARD RE-WRITE AND THE FUCKING THING IS DUE AT NOON

FUUUUUUCKKKKKK

MissMogwi · 14/11/2011 07:20

That's even stressing me out. The whole thing? How many words. ?

fluffystabby · 14/11/2011 07:27

Just a cut and paste and re-jig. 700 words to go.

Fuckssake. Every fucking time.

MissMogwi · 14/11/2011 07:30

Relief. I thought you were going to say 3000 words or some other awful number.

You can do it.

Get some coffee down you and get your geek on.
