You that stress where you get so stressed that you become almost paralysed, like a rabbit in the headlights?

That's me.

I'm procrastinating big time.

In fact, even though I have the house to myself and a deadline looming and nothing done, I'm going to watch John Simm on BBC iplayer right now Blush

schroeder Blush, oh yes, i am the queen of procrastination.

why can i blether for nonsense about everyone else's bleeding work and stare absently at mine?

have hit a fairly large hiccup actually, which i am avoiding dealing with. was at a meeting the other day where the assembled were briefed that a dubious research project was likely to be touting for participants in the community, and warning against taking part due to ethical concerns about anonymity.

now, this project is not mine. but it is eerily similar, (one small difference) and is looking for the exact same demographic for participants. and they have now all been warned off participating in research.

fuckity fuckity fuckity fuck.

so now i'm utterly torn. do i completely change my methodology and look for participants online, do i battle on through and try and convince everyone that mine is different, oh yes, or do i completely revise my plan at the eleventh hour?

anyone? anyone?

feck.

and all i really want to do is find out who is doing the other research project and nosy on in there, obviously...

have made a breakthrough Grin I have copied and pasted like a madwoman and now it makes a bit more sense and I can see which bits need filling out hoorah! 1593 of 2000

Much as I enjoyed the piteous wailing (thanks for the back up prolesWink) and it was very romantic I've got to get this thing done and sent off.

MIL and DP have gone out for dinner, phew. Children in bed and surprisingly both quiet.

I need a kick up the bum to start on the tma instead of MNetting. But I am sooo tired as we walked all over town with MIL and grumpy DD today. And the chilled Wine tastes so good...

wildstrawberryplace · 11/05/2011 21:45

Well done schroeder and proles keep up the momentum.

As for me, I've asked for an extension and booked DS an extra day at nursery tomorrow, so will get cracking tomorrow morning. With plenty of milky coffee - sod the diet, I need to able to THINK. And be awake and alert.

Winny, when is your deadline? Have you started yet?

OP posts:
schroeder · 11/05/2011 21:58

Crikey strawberry, I wouldn't rely on an extension unless your tutor has already okayed it (if so ignore me) but I have been told by my tutor that noone will be getting one for TMA 06.

winnybella · 11/05/2011 22:17

Can you get an extension? I know that often for the last tma it's impossible.

Mine is due on the 17th, so next Tuesday. I've got loads of reading to do and need to choose the question I'll answer (basically intertextuality or integration of an invidual into the society or early and modern critics).

On my fourth glass of Wine.

wildstrawberryplace · 12/05/2011 08:33

Really? It says in the TMA booklet, if you think you won't complete TMA06 on time contact your tutor about it otherwise you will end up with a zero because it is non substitutable. What would be the point of them saying that unless there was some wiggle room?

Yeah I'm not relying on it anyway - will have something handed in written today and tomorrow if it is not granted. Maybe tutors are less willing to give extensions because the last one takes longer to mark as people will have chosen different subjects? Much harder and tedious to mark a bunch of assigments on widely differing subjects, with all those differing references to check...

Good luck wildstrawberry and Proles Smile
DD is downstairs at the playgroup and I'm wasting time drinking coffee and being on here. 5 days left...

wildstrawberryplace · 12/05/2011 10:09

Well, that's odd. My tutor just emailed saying it was fine (there are actually some extenuating circumstances which have occurred in the last month, it isn't purely down to chronic procrastination). No mention of regional office, just a request that it is submitted asap and before midweek next week as tutor will have a mountain of marking and doesn't want to fall behind schedule.

Confused

Good luck to you too winny, we have similar deadlines now. Get stuck in!

OP posts:
schroeder · 12/05/2011 15:13

I'm glad to hear that strawberry. Still struggling here, what do you put in the conclusion if you've answered the question at the start? Confused

wildstrawberryplace · 12/05/2011 15:19

Rephrase, using a thesaurus if necessary?

Either that or slightly tweak your intro and put some of it in the conclusion?

great chat - but this is adding to my procrastination...Please someone make me work....

keynesian · 12/05/2011 19:09

Schroeder...

Introduction - tell 'em what you're going to tell them
Main Body - telling them
Conclusion - tell 'em what you've told them! :-)

I'm so happy to have found this thread - I have an exam tomorrow (statistics) and having thought I'd done what I needed (more or less!) I've just found another practice paper with totally different methodology....

schroeder · 12/05/2011 19:24

Right hippyhill get on with it

keynsian (ooh my very favourite kind of economics Grin) Yeah that is the usual formula, but in the rubric it says specifically that they want the question answered firstHmm very unusual.

Have decided to keep my answer very general at the start and then in the conclusion I can talk about my specific examples IYKWIM.

If only those pesky dcs would go to bed, so I could get on with it (dreams wistfully about when I used to be able to just change the clocks.)

NormanTebbit · 12/05/2011 20:22
